The Air District is currently accepting applications for the position of Principal Air Quality Engineer in the Engineering Division. This is an open recruitment for one (1) vacancy which is a full-time, represented position.

About the Position
The AB617 Principal Engineer (AB617 Role) will join a high performing and motivated team of professionals who work in partnership with the communities most impacted by air pollution.  You will have the opportunity to contribute to the successful preparation and implementation of community-scale air quality plans in partnership with Air District staff, community members, partner organizations, local governments, the California Air Resources Board, and other state agencies.  With knowledge of the Air District’s permitting and risk reduction programs, you will lead the division’s participation in internal and external AB617 engagement, including communicating the role of the division; analyzing, reporting, and presenting information about stationary sources, emission inventories, permits, and risk reduction; participating in community meetings; proposing and guiding discussions on emission reduction strategies and development of plans and programs to implement environmental justice and civil rights.
 
The Principal Air Quality Engineer for the Engineering Division may perform the other complex and highly specialized air quality engineering work such as, but not limited to, processing permit applications for complex facilities; analyzing air emissions and other metadata; evaluating program effectiveness; and providing project leadership. The Principal Air Quality Engineers review, mentor staff, and provides training. The Principal Air Quality Engineer may also participate or lead complex, sensitive and controversial projects.  The incumbent in this position may provide technical presentations on complex and/or sensitive engineering activities to the Board of Directors, public, industry, or other agencies.  The Principal Air Quality Engineer will also represent the Air District while participating in working groups comprised of public, industry and other agencies. Researches, develops, and documents guidance for calculating emissions.

They collect, analyze, and report on diversity metrics and demographic data to track progress and identify areas for improvement. They ensure organizational policies and practices comply with DEI principles and relevant laws by reviewing policies to remove potential biases. They also build and maintain relationships with diverse communities and external partners to support the organization’s DEI goals and initiatives. Serving as a resource and advisor to leadership and staff on DEI matters, they provide guidance on best practices and emerging trends in the field. Furthermore, they assist in creating a formalized supplier diversity process that supports equitable contracting opportunities. Overall, the Senior DEI Specialist works to create a work environment where all employees feel valued, respected, and included, ultimately contributing to the agency’s overall success.

Definition
Under direction, provides lead direction and performs the more complex administrative, technical, and specialized functions in the areas of incentives, contracts, business services, finance, budget, and facility management; and performs related work as assigned.

Distinguishing Characteristics
This is the advanced lead level in the Staff Specialist series. Incumbents may provide lead direction and may be assigned to perform the more complex duties. This class is distinguished from the Supervising Staff Specialist in that the latter assigns, supervises, reviews and evaluates the work of assigned staff. This class is distinguished from Staff Specialist I/II, which is at the journey level, and does not typically perform lead work or the most complex duties.

The Office of the City Attorney is committed to providing excellent legal services, consistent with the highest professional and ethical standards, to the City with the goal of protecting and advancing its interests in serving the people of San José. The Office is seeking a motivated individual with the ability to work independently and also in a team environment. This position is responsible for performing legal secretarial duties requiring both sound judgment and good technical skills. Salary Range

The Public Works Technology Services Division is recruiting a full-time on-site Microsoft Windows Desktop Support Engineer (Network Engineer) . The Desktop Support Engineer an individual contributor role includes day-to-day desktop support , user support, patch management , system administration and maintenance . The environment includes Windows based dev ices, approx imately 50 servers , mobile devices, running on multiple network segments . THE DEPARTMENT

The City of East Palo Alto is seeking qualified candidates for a Building Inspector I/II. Under direct or general supervision, the Building Inspector I/II performs routine to complex inspections at various stages of construction, alterations, and repair of residential, commercial, and industrial building sites to enforce building, plumbing, mechanical, electrical, and environmental codes, and other governing laws and ordinances. Inspections include basic zoning, grading, fire, and safety regulations to ensure conformance with approved plans, specifications, standards, permits, licensing, and safety standards.

The Building Inspector I/II provides a variety of information to property owners, developers, architects, engineers, and contractors; and performs related duties, as assigned. The Building Inspector II differs from the level I in that is the advanced level classification in the Building Inspector series. The Building Inspector II provides a high level of discretion and independent judgment in performing the full range of routine to complex inspections. Work is normally reviewed upon completion and for overall results. Incumbents also provide lead direction and functional supervision to assigned clerical, technical, and professional staff. We have exciting internship opportunities available at the City of Millbrae’s Public Works Department.  The Public Works Department is looking to hire two (2) interns for the Engineering Division. This is an open-ended internship without a specific term. The working schedule is to be determined based on business needs and candidate availability, and no more than 1,000 hours in a fiscal year.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORKING ENVIRONMENT:

Work is performed in an office environment in close proximity to other workers.  Incumbent shall be exposed to those conditions normally encountered in a business office environment.  Physical demands require frequent standing, reaching, leaning, twisting, grasping, lifting and sitting for prolonged periods of time.  Must carry moderately heavy boxes up to 50 pounds and/or utilize a dolly.  Incumbent must be able to drive safely to various City sites.  Incumbent must be able to see and hear in the normal range, with or without correction.  Incumbent must have the stamina to work long hours and overtime, if assigned, and be willing to work an irregular schedule, which might include evenings, weekends, holidays, and varying hours.
