Under general supervision, the new team member will perform sub-professional engineering work involving manual and computer drafting, traffic data gathering, records management, map interpretation and processing, retrieval of information, assist with field surveys, and to do related work as required. This position will assist the Department of Public Works, Engineering Division.

Child Care Aide

THE POSITION:

The City of San Rafael, Child Care Division is accepting applications for Child Care Aide to work in our School-Age Program.  We are looking for people who are available Monday thru Friday from 2:00 – 6:00 pm.  This is a great part-time position for someone who attends school in the morning.  No weekend work required!

This position performs the following essential job duties (including but not limited to):

• Assist Director and Instructors in planning and implementing activities.
• Assist in the supervision of children at the child care center or on outings/trips.
• Assist in the cleaning and maintenance of equipment and materials.
• Assist in the preparation and cleanup of snacks.
• Other related duties as assigned.

• Child guidance methods.
• Developmentally-appropriate practices and curriculum.

• Accept direction from supervisor.
• Establish and maintain effective relationships.
• Work as scheduled.

• Some experience with school age children, preferably 6 months.
   

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:

• Department of Justice and FBI fingerprint clearance
• Prefer possession of a valid California Driver’s License
• Must have a current TB test clearance

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

Must be able to perform physical activities such as but not limited to lifting or carrying children or heavy items (up to 40 lbs.) unassisted, reaching, bending, standing, or walking. The employee is occasionally required to sit, climb or balance, twist, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus. Facility and Sports Field Attendants work in the formal Suisun City classification of Recreation Specialist I. Starting hourly rate will depend on qualifications. This position works on average 19 hours per week.

The Department: The Recreation, Parks and Marina Department is responsible for the operations and programs of the Suisun City Marina, the Senior Center and the Joseph A. Nelson Center, including preschool, after-school programs at various sites, recreation classes and sports leagues, community events and special event rentals.

The Position: Facility and Sports Field Attendants work behind the scenes making all Recreation and Community Services excel! This job entails performing participant or event rental check-in and reception duties, opening and closing facilities, general janitorial services including but not limited to sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, bathrooms, room set-up and break-down, field preparation by dragging, chalking, placing bases, hole filling, safety checks, restroom opening/closing as well as restocking and general cleaning, working in concessions, stocking, preparing, and selling food during tournaments and league play. We’re looking for highly motivated people with a customer service orientation who genuinely enjoy helping others and who are flexible problem-solvers.

The department: The Recreation, Parks and Marina Department is responsible for the operations and programs of the Suisun City Marina, the Senior Center and the Joseph A. Nelson Center, including preschool, after-school programs at various sites, recreation classes and sports leagues, community events and special event rentals.

The Position:  Responsible for maintaining the coordination, implementation, and administration of designated after school program. The specific duties of the After School Program Site Lead include program and curriculum development and implementation, budget management, staff management, participation and coordination of staff development, and general oversight of the designated after school program. The position will provide a safe, nurturing, and well-supervised after school program; act as a liaison between the program and parents, stakeholders, school administration, and school district staff to provide for a collaborative, positive, beneficial program. Special Events Attendants work behind the scenes making all Recreation and Community Services excel! This job entails interacting with the public and vendors participating in recreation and community activities, facilitating arts, crafts, games, and sports; performing participant check-in, reception duties and cash handling duties; assisting with large equipment (stage and booth) set-up, take down and housekeeping; opening and closing facilities. As experience is gained, may provide administrative and onsite program support; assisting with training, leading, scheduling and directing staff; organizing and directing event activities; preparing written and verbal reports and correspondence which may include drafting advertisements and social media posts. The City of San Rafael Library and Recreation Department is now accepting applications for the position of Facilities Attendant (two part-time/temporary positions available).  This position provides customer service to renters and program participants while assisting with the supervision of front counter/reception area, set up and breakdown equipment for scheduled activities, custodial and cleaning including but not limited to emptying trash, vacuuming, cleaning windows, cleaning restrooms, etc.; opening and securing facility before and after building use and interacting with instructors, clients, and the general public.  Bilingual in Spanish is desired. 

Qualifications:

• Ability to provide good customer service to instructors, clients, and the general public.
• Ability to use a variety of cleaning equipment and materials.
• Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing in English.
• Ability to follow written and oral directions.
• Ability to work cooperatively with others.
• Ability to work evenings, weekends and some holidays.
• Ability to regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds.
