The Capital Improvement Program (CIP) division is responsible for delivering a 10-year Capital Improvement Program estimated at $1.4 billion. The first Five-Year CIP includes Headworks Improvements, Aeration Tanks and Blower Rehabilitation, Nitrification Clarifier Rehabilitation, Secondary Clarifier Rehabilitation, Filter Rehabilitation, Digester and Thickener Facilities Upgrades, New Cogeneration Facility, Digested Sludge Dewatering Facility, Advance Facility Control and Meter Replacement, Treatment Plant Distributed Control System, and Facility Wide Water Systems Improvements.
The Department is currently recruiting multiple Associate Engineer positions of different disciplines (Civil and Structural) and may be assigned to work in the following area:
Transportation and Hydraulic Services Division
The actual salary shall be determined by the final candidate’s qualifications and experience. In addition to the starting salary, employees in the Network Engineer classification shall also receive an approximate five percent (5%) ongoing non-pensionable compensation pay.
Public Works Department is seeking to fill a vacant Network Engineer-HVAC Controls position. This position deals with local/wide area networks with multiple servers and network segments, systems administration and system maintenance.
The Water Resources Division (Division) is comprised of three sections: Municipal Water System (MWS), South Bay Water Recycling (SBWR), and Operations and Maintenance (O & M). The Division provides potable water service through the MWS to the communities of Evergreen, North San José/Alviso, Edenvale, and Coyote. The MWS consists of 350 miles of pipeline, 15 pump stations, 14 wells, and 18 reservoirs, and serves a growing population of over 115,000 in a 33.3 square mile service area.
The Assistant Engineer performs paraprofessional engineering duties in such areas as reviewing development plans, estimating costs, coordinating construction projects, maintaining engineering records, and developing in-house project designs and specifications using engineering techniques.
