MAINTENANCE WORKER (Part time)

Working in the Community Development and Public Services Department, the Maintenance Worker will perform a variety of unskilled, semiskilled and skilled light and heavy duty construction, maintenance and repair work involving public works, sewer and drainage systems, buildings, parking meters, and other facilities.

The position will be filled as a Maintenance Worker based on the experience and qualifications of the candidate.

SALARY RANGE:
Part-time Maintenance Worker I   – $14.90-19.17 per hour.

DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS:

Maintenance Worker I (Part time)

This is the entry level class in the maintenance worker series. Positions in this class normally perform a variety of unskilled and semi‑skilled maintenance tasks. Although trucks and other motorized equipment may be operated by a Maintenance Worker I, the equipment is used on a training basis or for tasks which are repetitious in nature. Under this training concept, positions assigned to the class of Maintenance Worker II which become vacant may reasonably be filled at the Maintenance Worker I level, with the understanding that reassignment to the Maintenance Worker II class may be expected following successful job performance and personal development.

EXAMPLES OF ESSENTIAL DUTIES

• Perform a variety of maintenance work in the construction, maintenance and repair of streets, parks, sewers, storm drains, curbs, gutters, sidewalks, parking meters and other public facilities.
• Operate power‑driven equipment such as skip loaders, dump trucks, water trucks and fork lifts.
• Break out old concrete work such as curbs, sidewalks, and gutters.
• Cut and prepare streets for patches, spread premix and oil, and rake asphalt.
• Replace, repair, couple, test, and backfill sewer lines.
• Clean and maintain basic tools used on the job.
• Paint traffic directional markings, such as crosswalks and safety loading zones.
• Fabricate, install, repair and replace street signs.
• Operate heavy power‑driven equipment on a relief or training basis.
• Water, mow, weed, trim, renovate, and fertilize grass and other landscaped areas.
• Rake leaves, clean walks, fields, courts, and other facilities.
• Spade and otherwise prepare ground around plants and shrubs, including mixing and applying fertilizers.
• Plant, trim and/or remove trees, flowers, and shrubs. 
• Load trimmings on trucks for disposal.
• Pick up rubbish and litter materials and perform general grounds cleaning.
• Operate power mowers, edgers, sewer rodders, and other hand-operated and power tools in the performance of maintenance and repair activities.
• Drive vehicles as required and assist in routine care and upkeep of such vehicles.
• Assist in moving and installing park and recreational equipment.
• Install, maintain, and repair sewer system mains, sprinkler systems, pipes and facilities.
• Inspect, maintain, and repair parking meter devices.

EMPLOYMENT STANDARDS (position requirements at entry and throughout employment)

Maintenance Worker I: Possession of a valid California Class C driver license.  There is an employee weight limitation of 325 pounds to meet the legal limits for the safe use of certain equipment.

Building Attendant I/II

The Belmont Parks and Recreation Department is recruiting for part-time Building Attendants. Building Attendants provide operational supervision of facilities during the absence of full-time staff.

Building Attendant I - This is the entry level class in the Building Attendant series.  Incumbents in this class work under close supervision.  As experience is gained, incumbents may be granted more independence of action under established guidelines.

Building Attendant II - This is the journey level class in the Building Attendant series. Incumbents are expected to work independently in the absence of close supervision.

Tri-City Mental Health Authority (“Tri-City”) is now actively recruiting for two (2) part-time/temporary Wellness Advocate I positions.  These positions will work an average of 20 hours per week and is a limited term, grant funded position.  The Wellness Advocate I will provide advocacy, guidance, feedback, outreach and support to help families to access and work more effectively with the systems involved. One position will report to our Wellness Center and the other position will report to our Community Navigator Division.

The Wellness Advocate I will report to a Employment Outreach Supervisor (Wellness Center) and a MHSA Program Supervisor (Community Navigator Division).

A brief summary of additional responsibilities for this position are included, but not limited to:

• Perform community outreach and presentations to educate the community at a peer level not requiring licensure as a mental health professional;

• Function as a team member of the Wellness and Recovery Center participating in all aspects of the center's programming;

THE POSITION

The PSE IV- HHSA Mental Health Counselor, Senior II position at the Glenn County Health and Human Services Agency performs a variety of professional duties in the provision of outpatient and crisis mental health services to individuals in the Social Services Division, Children’s Welfare Services Unit. The HHSA Mental Health Counselor, Senior II is distinguished from the HHSA Mental Health Counselor, Senior I by the performance of the full range of duties as assigned, requiring attainment of a Licensed Clinical Social Worker or Marriage Family Therapist License. IDEAL CANDIDATE

The Ideal Candidate will have experience with equipment, materials and methods utilized in general construction, maintenance, and repair of streets, sidewalks, signs, and tree maintenance. Be able to work independently with limited supervision, and make sound decisions.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

Operate a variety of light and moderately heavy construction and maintenance equipment including such pieces as a loader, dump truck, water truck, rubber-tired and steel rollers, rubber-tired tractor with all attachments (except backhoe attachment), striping equipment, and trencher in order to perform a variety of routine construction and maintenance operations.  Spread asphalt in patching and repairing streets.  Use concrete cutting equipment; operate a jackhammer; pour and finish concrete; construct concrete forms and perform rough carpentry work.  Paint and install traffic markings on streets, crosswalks, parking lots, and curbs; operate a striping truck; manufacture and install traffic signs and remove signs no longer required.  Install and remove traffic control barricades and cones.  Assist in a variety of tree maintenance activities including low limb, stump routing, tree watering, and tree planting.  Utilize proper safety precautions and comply with policies and procedures in the Department Illness and Injury Prevention Program.  Operate equipment and vehicles with possession of all necessary licenses and certificates.  Regular and consistent attendance.  OTHER JOB FUNCTIONS Respond to inquiries from the general public.  Clean storm grates and drains.  Perform work in emergency situations as required.  Perform minor and preventive maintenance on paint spraying equipment, compressors, sprayers, compactors, and other construction equipment.  Work cooperatively with others.  Perform related duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

Education: High School diploma or equivalent.

Experience:  One (1) year of work experience in construction or related field.

License or Certificates:  Possession of a valid California Driver's License required upon hire.

BENEFITS

All of these positions are temporary part-time, offering no more than 130 hours of work per month.  Temporary employees work no more than 130 hours per month AND no more than 960 hours in a Fiscal Year.

The pay cycle is monthly. Pay day is the last working day of the month. With the exception of worker's compensation coverage and sick leave accrual, no other benefits compensations are provided. Employees must contribute 1.45% of salary to Medicare and 7.5% to a retirement plan in accordance with Federal Law.
