Spinning/Indoor Cycling Instructor 

Salary: $35.00 - $40.00 per hour DOQ (Part-Time, Non-Benefited position)

Schedule: Actual work schedule and classes taught to be determined through mutual agreement with coordinator. Employees may be required to work mornings, evenings, and weekends.

The Position: The City of Campbell Recreation and Community Services Department is seeking enthusiastic, knowledgeable, and experienced Spinning/Indoor Cycling Instructors for Spinning class instruction at the Campbell Community Center for weekday NOON classes, as well as subbing evening Spinning classes occasionally.

Responsibilities: Under direct supervision of the Recreation Fitness Specialist, is responsible for group instruction of Spinning fitness classes, utilizing Spinning or Indoor Cycling Certification training, and must possess a current CPR/AED certification. Ability to interact professionally and communicate effectively with participants and general public; adhere to class structural guidelines and time schedules; maintain patron safety in and around Campbell Community Center facilities; comply and enforce all City of Campbell and Campbell Recreation and Community Services Department policies and procedures.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Minimum age at time of hire is 18 years old.

• Professional certification(s) and experience.

• Valid California Driver’s license.

• Must have a Spinning certification through Mad Dogg Athletics, or nationally recognized indoor cycling certification.

• Current CPR/AED certification • Fingerprint clearance (Department of Justice background check.)

The City of Campbell will schedule fingerprint appointment and encumber cost upon hire.

Selection Process: The most qualified applicants as determined by initial screening of applications and references will be invited to participate in an interview process and instruction practical. This is a part-time, at-will, non-benefited position. Hours are limited to less than 1,000 hours per year.

THE POSITION:

Under general supervision, the Clinical Supervisor plans, organizes, participates in and oversees the clinical work and clinical staff of Youth and Family Services, including coordinating crisis and counseling intervention services, providing technical expertise, guidance and supervision for clinical staff, administering the clinical intern program, and performing related duties as required.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

Duties may include but are not limited to the following: 

• Plans, organizes, assigns, supervises, reviews, and evaluates the work of clinical staff; recommends selection of clinical staff; trains clinical staff and provides for their professional development; administers discipline as required. 
• Provides clinical expertise and consultation to clinical staff, interns, and police officers.
• Administers the clinical intern program; actively participates in intern recruitment, placement, training, and completion of all documentation required by educational institutions. 
• Provides group and individual counseling to youth and provides family therapy when appropriate, including the most challenging cases; provides crisis assessment and intervention; develops treatment plans and implements interventions; coordinates and follows up on referrals to relevant agencies and service providers; and provides follow-up support to students and families.  
• Conducts assessments of youth, individuals and families to identify appropriate resources and provide referral services.  
• Works in close collaboration with the Program Manager to develop and implement consistent standards and practices in clinical operations; develops and/or revises policies and procedures in response to changing client and organizational needs; participates in the development of Youth and Family Services goals and objectives. 
• Coordinates and responds to the rare occasions of crisis Union City Police Department call-outs and other community emergency situations as needed. 
• Ensures that staff remains current in the professional, legal and ethical standards of the profession; provides training and workshops as necessary for clinical staff and interns.
• Conducts and participates in meetings, trainings, and workshops with community partners, schools, and guardians to ensure high-quality delivery and coordination of services.
• Develops and maintains relationships with all stakeholders, including other social welfare agencies and organizations; conducts presentations and workshops for guardians on various educational topics.
• Works with the Program Manager to develop, track, and compile clinical program data and statistics; prepares various local, state and federal reports as necessary.

Under general supervision of the Columbia Neighborhood Center (CNC) Site Manager or designee, the recreation instructor will develop and facilitate nutrition curriculum and program hands-on cooking activities to support health and wellness programs for youth, adults and families.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

May include, but are not limited to the following: 

• Prepare nutrition curriculum and cooking activities for each 90-minute cooking lesson which may include but not limited to researching and preparing appropriate recipes, submitting supply and equipment requests, nutrition educational materials such as demonstrations, tastings and/or worksheets. Recipes and curriculum must emphasis and support healthy, budget-friendly eating habits,
• Maintain a safe, friendly and clean environment for class participants. Must practice and demonstrate safe and proper food handling techniques during class while using public facilities and ensure facility is returned to original condition after use.
• Provide an orientation and initial assessment to new participants that join the health and wellness programs at CNC. This includes introduction to proper cooking techniques and how to use the equipment and kitchen tools safety
• Work with participants to create individual and group goals and adjust lessons and recipes to reflect participants' skills, needs and interests.
• Actively supervise, monitor, and support participants during hands-on cooking sessions to ensure proper use of equipment and minimize risk of injuries.
• Provide excellent customer service and demonstrate ability to be flexible and creative in meeting the diverse skills and interest of participants.
• Complete clerical and administrative tasks such as open and classroom as needed, submit equipment/supply requests and track participant progress through pre- and post-surveys.
• Submit motivational and educational content suggestions to be sent to program participants bi-weekly via email, text communication and City social media channels.
• Become familiar with programs, services, and special events taking place at Columbia Neighborhood Center to make referrals as appropriate

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education and Experience
The minimum qualifications for education and experience can be met in the following way:

• An Associate's degree or higher from an accredited university with a focus on Nutrition or health science.
• Minimum one year experience in providing nutrition education
• Experience with working with diverse populations (youth, adults, seniors, etc.)

Licenses/ Certificates: 
Possession and continued maintenance of a valid class C California driver's license and a safe driving record, or the ability to provide alternative transportation as approved by the appointing authority.

Desirable Qualifications:

• Bilingual in English & Spanish
• Current CPR and First Aid certification
• Currently certified in Nutrition by a nationally recognized organization such as ACE, NASM, ISSA, NESTA, Precision Nutrition or AFPA.

THE POSITION

The City of Dublin is looking for Lifeguard/Swim Instructors to perform lifeguard duties including enforcing City public swimming pool rules, monitoring pool patron conduct, and perform emergency rescue and lifesaving techniques, if necessary, and teach swimming classes.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

THE POSITION

The City’s Parks and Community Services Department is looking for a current credentialed teacher at Cottonwood Creek School, with access to a classroom on campus, to serve as Program Specialist for the City’s After School Program at Cottonwood Creek School. This position provides: Homework assistance Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Fridays from 3:00 PM to 4:15 PM and from 1:45 PM to 3:00 PM on Wednesdays; Access for Student Union Program participants and staff to utilize classroom until 5:45 PM every day; And assistance to staff with general supervision of Student Union Program participants.

Essential Job Functions:              

• Assist in caring for and reinforcing instruction to individual or small groups of special education students in a classroom or other learning environment; monitor/oversee student drills, practices and assignments in various subjects; confer with the teacher concerning lesson plans and materials, and provide input and suggestions to meet student needs

Qualifications:  Any combination of education and experience providing the job knowledge, skills, and ability for successful job performance will be considered for positions in this classification.  Typical qualifications would be equivalent to:

EDUCATION:      Equivalent to completion of 12th grade; additional training in education, special education, or a related field is desirable

EXPERIENCE:      Minimum one (1) year of experience working in an organized educational setting; Experience working with special education students is strongly desired

Specialized Skills and Knowledge:

• Knowledge of methods, techniques, procedures, and practices utilized in the care of severely disabled children of all ages
• Knowledge of problems and concerns of students with special needs
• Knowledge of safe practices and procedures in classroom activities, and appropriate student conduct
