The City of Berkeley invites you to apply for the position of Assistant Fire Inspector in the Fire Department! In this role, you will have the opportunity to work in the Wildland Urban Interface (WUI) Division and help administer special projects aimed at assisting residents with defensible space, hazardous vegetation cleanup, and preparing for wildfire. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

A typical way of gaining the knowledge, skills, and abilities for this position is:
Equivalent to graduation from high school and one year of experience in fire, building, or code enforcement inspections in a paid professional, internship, or volunteer capacity. Municipal experience desirable.

Other desirable qualifications include: Completion of California State Fire Marshal's Fire Prevention 1A, 1B, and 1C courses; Fire Inspector 1A, 1B, 1C, and 1D; or International Code Council (ICC) Fire Inspector I; Associate’s degree in fire science, emergency management, fire protection engineering, environmental science, ecosystem management, public policy, public administration, or related field.

THE POSITION:

Under the general supervision of the Youth & Family Services Clinical Supervisor and the Community Services Manager, the Intervention Counselor provides crisis intervention, individual and family counseling; identifies appropriate referral services to youth, families and individuals.

CLASS CHARACTERISTICS:

Intervention Counselor is a journey-level professional classification. Incumbents perform the full range of counseling duties within the Community Services division. Incumbents in this position receive occasional instruction as new or unusual situations arise. The Intervention Counselor is distinguished from the Clinical Supervisor in that the latter is responsible for overseeing clinical work, providing direct supervision to clinical staff and interns, responsible for ensuring counselors follow professional guidelines, establishes processes and procedures for the clinical side of the division, researches and provides appropriate training, and is the primary liaison with the school district and police department in regard to referrals, counseling, and crisis support. While the Intervention Counselor provides direct counseling, run group counseling and workshops, and provides intervention services and supportive tools and resources to clients.

Duties may include but are not limited to the following: 

• Provide individual, family and group counseling to children, adolescents, and adults using a variety of therapeutic and counseling techniques. 
• Provide crisis intervention services around a variety of issues including: incorrigible youth/status offenders, child/adult abuse, domestic violence, trauma, individuals experiencing mental health issues, and families in conflict; may conduct visits at homes, schools, and juvenile detention centers. 
• Conduct assessments to identify appropriate resources, provide referral services and connect clients with additional services as needed.

The City of Berkeley is seeking a Housing Development Specialist (Community Development Project Coordinator)! AC Transit is seeking a Project Manager I (Utility Location and Marking) in the Capital Projects department. Under general direction, serves as project manager for routine to moderately complex projects and assists higher-level project managers on more complex projects as needed. This is the experienced level within the Project Manager series. There are four (4) levels within the series, which are distinguished from one another by the technical complexity of the assigned duties and the level of discretion and independent judgment exercised. Positions at this level are responsible for performing project management activities for routine to moderately complex projects.

Positions in the Project Manager series are flexibly staffed to meet the needs of the District. Highly Desirable: 

• Ability to read and understand as-built plans, including construction plans
• Ability to observe construction work performed by others that impacts District's utilities to ensure any site restoration is done to code.
• Must understand the 811 / USA Alert system and program, how it works, how to monitor for projects that may impact our District assets.
• Must know the color codes used to mark utilities.
• Interpersonal skills to coordinate with contractor who are permitted to excavate in/around District assets and with City inspectors to enforce quality standards on subject contractors. Ability to use locator equipment, materials, and hand tools to perform marking tasks. Ability to write reports documenting marking tasks performed.
• Must be proactive and a self-starter. Utility marking requires the individual to stay ahead of the contractors.
• Must be willing to work in inclement weather.

AC Transit is seeking a Market Research Project Manager II. Under general direction serves as the project manager leading a variety of complex market research projects, functions, and activities. Incumbents in this position provide actionable data-driven insight informing and aligning strategic business decisions with customer sentiment.

This classification is distinguished from other marketing and communications classifications by the assigned project management responsibilities leading District-wide, market research projects and studies of considerable size and complexity. Incumbents at this level are expected to operate with a high degree of professional judgment and independence, providing technical and functional direction to vendors, professional, technical, and contract staff.

REPRESENTATIVE FUNCTIONS:

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Education: Equivalent to a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited four-year college or university in a field directly related to the area to which assigned. For the Market Research Project Manager position the following are applicable fields of study: business administration, sociology, statistics, market research, communications, public administration, marketing, or a related field. Additional experience may be substituted for education on a year-for-year basis.

Experience: Six (6) years of experience in the professional field required by the assigned special projects. THE POSITIONS

Under direct supervision, the Public Service Assistant II will perform litter/trash pick-up, barbeque maintenance, leaf/debris pick-up, and miscellaneous park duties in Central Park and other community parks.  The Public Service Assistant II will also perform related duties as assigned.
 
WORK SCHEDULE

The positions work up to a full-time schedule of 40 hours per week and may be required to work a regular shift that includes evening and weekend hours. These temporary assignments are limited to 999 hours per fiscal year (July 1 - June 30).
