The Fire Captain is responsible for performing and supervising company activities, including emergency response and safety, command and control, supervision, management, delegation and prioritization, documentation and communication, station apparatus and equipment maintenance, training, fire prevention, vegetation management and other life safety inspections, public education, public awareness, and other related work, tasks, and assignments as required.

Minimum Requirements

• High School Graduate or equivalent
• United States citizen or legal right to remain in the United States 
• San Luis Obispo County paramedic certificate/accreditation is preferred
• Current Health Care Provider CPR or equivalent
• Hazardous Materials First Responder Operational certified
• Valid California driver's license with either non-commercial Firefighter Endorsement or Class B commercial license, with driving and operating experience. (Applicants who do not possess the required DMV license or CPR certification may be admitted to the testing process but must possess the required license or certification prior to being appointed.)
• Must have begun the State Fire Officer’s Certification track
• Three years of firefighting experience with supervisory experience 

Some minimum requirements may be waived upon substantial demonstration and documentation of substitute fulfillment.

• College graduate or holds a college degree, preferably in fire science or other comparable coursework

Benefits

• $86,683 to $105,364 annually
• Non-exempt employees assigned to a 56-hour (average) workweek schedule will receive pay for overtime as defined in the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA). All overtime shall be paid at a rate of one and one-half (1 ½) times the regular hourly rate of pay.
• All covered employees hired on or after December 28, 2012, who are not defined as “new members” under the Public Employees Pension Reform Act (“PEPRA”) will be covered by the 3% @ 55 retirement formula and the 36 highest consecutive months’ final compensation provision.  All covered employees hired on or after January 1, 2013, and who are defined as “new members” under PEPRA will be covered by the 2.7% at 57 retirement formula and the 36 highest consecutive months’ final compensation provision. 
• Regular employees, after completion of their probationary period, shall be eligible for the Health Care Reimbursement Program. Eligible employees receive a credit of $1300 each January 1.
• For all regular employees working full time, the District will pay 85% of the premiums currently in effect for employee and dependent coverage for the lowest cost plan available to District employees offered through the PERS system.
• For all regular employees working full-time, the District will pay 85% of the premiums for employee and dependent coverage for the lowest-cost dental plan.  In the event the employees elect a higher cost coverage, the employees shall pay the increased cost for that plan.
• A Group Life Insurance Plan will be provided with a $25,000 life insurance policy for each unit member, a $1,000 policy for each employee's spouse, and a $1,000 for each employee's dependent under the age of 21.  The CCSD will pay the full monthly premium for each unit member, spouse, and dependent children.
• Covered employees assigned to a 56-hour average workweek schedule shall accrue 4.31 hours of vacation leave biweekly (112 hrs/yr) from the date of hire to sixty (60) months of service.
• Each full-time employee, assigned to a 56-hour average workweek, shall accrue sick leave from the date of employment at the rate of 6.4 hours per 14-day payroll period (based on 120 hours per year times the conversion factor of 1.4).
• In lieu of time off on holidays, covered employees assigned to a 56-hour workweek shall accrue 5.92 hours of holiday leave per 14-day payroll period for a total of 154 hours per year (based on 110 hours per year times the conversion factor of 1.4). 
• The District shall provide covered employees with an annual boot or safety shoe allowance of $250, payable in July of each year.

The Public Works Department is recruiting for an Operations & Maintenance Superintendent, who, under general direction from the Operations & Maintenance Manager, will oversee the operations and maintenance activities of the Facilities, Streets, Parks, and Vehicle Maintenance divisions. This position will manage budgets of the respective divisions, supervise and guide division supervisors, and advance technical knowledge and skills to affect the research, analysis, planning, and implementation of operations functions.

THE POSITION:

This position performs the following essential job duties (including but not limited to):

• Provide leadership, direction, and supervision to operations and maintenance staff, including assigning tasks, monitoring performance, and providing feedback and coaching.
• Foster a positive and productive work environment that encourages teamwork, collaboration, and professional growth.
• Develop and implement operational plans, policies, and procedures to ensure the efficient delivery of services.
• Coordinate with other City departments and external agencies to prioritize and schedule operations activities, including street maintenance, park maintenance/landscaping, facility upkeep/repair, fleet maintenance/replacement, and utility services.
• Oversee the planning and execution of maintenance activities for city infrastructure assets, including streets, sidewalks, parks, buildings, vehicles, and utilities.
• Coordinate with contractors, vendors, and service providers to ensure timely and cost-effective completion of maintenance projects.
• Monitor the condition of infrastructure assets and develop strategies for preventative maintenance and repairs.
• Maintain accurate records and inventory of city-owned infrastructure assets, including condition assessments, maintenance history, and replacement schedules.
• Develop and implement asset management strategies to optimize the lifecycle of infrastructure assets and maximize return on investment.
• Prepare reports and presentations on asset performance, budget projections, and recommendations for capital improvements.
• Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations, codes, and standards governing public works operations and maintenance activities.
• Coordinate safety program for department staff ensuring proper training and protocol.
• Obtain necessary permits, licenses, and approvals for maintenance projects and activities, and ensure timely renewal and compliance with regulatory requirements.
• Respond to inquiries, complaints, and requests for information from the public, elected officials, and regulatory agencies regarding operations and maintenance issues.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

• Graduation from high school or G.E.D. equivalent, supplemented with training/education in supervisory principles.
• Five (5) years of progressively responsible experience in streets maintenance and repair, parks maintenance, facilities maintenance and/or vehicle maintenance, including a minimum of two (2) years in a supervisory capacity.
• Training/experience in database management and/or experience using database systems is highly desirable.
• Ability to converse in Spanish is preferable
• Valid California Driver’s License

MAINTENANCE WORKER (Full time)

DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS:

Maintenance Worker I:  This is the entry level class in the maintenance worker series. Positions in this class normally perform a variety of unskilled and semi‑skilled maintenance tasks. Although trucks and other motorized equipment may be operated by a Maintenance Worker I, the equipment is used on a training basis or for tasks which are repetitious in nature. Under this training concept, positions assigned to the class of Maintenance Worker II which become vacant may reasonably be filled at the Maintenance Worker I level, with the understanding that reassignment to the Maintenance Worker II class may be expected following successful job performance and personal development.

Maintenance Worker II: This is the journey level in the maintenance worker series. Positions assigned to this class are expected to perform semi‑skilled and skilled public works maintenance activities and to operate light and moderately heavy power‑driven equipment on a continuing basis. All positions allocated to this class require that an incumbent be able to work independently, exercising judgment and initiative to fulfill assigned tasks. Maintenance Workers II may also be expected to assist in the supervision and training of less experienced personnel.

The City of Sebastopol is currently seeking qualified candidates to fill one current full-time Fire Engineer position and to build a list of eligible candidates for possible anticipated openings in the future. The Fire Engineer participates in fire suppression, training, prevention, rescue, inspection, and public education activities in protecting life, property, and the environment. The incumbent drives and operates all fire apparatus and equipment; responds to all emergency calls for service; and provides emergency medical care to the sick and injured. In addition, perform training, other safety and prevention duties as assigned.

The Position

The City of Fremont currently has a vacancy for the position of Park Maintenance Worker I. The Park Maintenance Worker I performs routine maintenance and repair work in the care of parks, recreation areas and equipment. The selected candidate will be part of a work crew assigned to a daily work detail.

This recruitment will establish a pool of candidates to fill regular and temporary vacancies.

Examples of Job Duties

All Assignments

• Responsible for vehicle and pedestrian traffic safety in work area.
• Manually transports heavy objects, supplies and materials.
• Operate ground maintenance equipment including a backhoe and tractor attachments, as well as a variety of hand and power tools.

Trees Assignment

• Prunes and trims designated street trees to shape and improve growth.
• Operates an aerial pruning platform, brush chipper, chain saw, stump grinder, leaf blower, and pole saw.
• Drives a one-ton truck to locations where work is to be performed.
• Clears areas of leaves, using rake or blower, and remove debris.

Central Parks and Sport Complex Assignment

• Maintains lawns, trees, shrubs, ground cover, picnic tables, benches, and sprinkler systems.
• Irrigates, cultivates, prunes, plants, and transplants a variety of turf, shrubs, trees and plants.

Outlying Parks Assignment

• Maintains lawns, trees, shrubs, ground cover, picnic tables, benches, and sprinkler systems.
• Maintains and make minor repairs to playground/picnic equipment, picnic areas and athletic fields.
• Operates mowing equipment in parks and athletic fields.

Special Assignments

• Performs general painting, plumbing and carpentry.
• Maintains, repairs and renovates irrigation system controllers, valves, pipes, and related components.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

• CA State Firefighter 1 or completion of CA State Board of Fire Service Firefighter 1 curriculum prior to appointment
• Valid California Paramedic License (or equivalent); or ability to obtain prior to appointment
• 1-year experience as a full-time paid Firefighter/Paramedic

We're looking for a Supervising Public Health Nurse to manage programs in our Public Health Division! Join us in our mission to achieve health equity and optimal health for all people in Berkeley through systems change, service provision, and collaboration with community members and partners.

As a Supervising Public Health Nurse, you will have the opportunity to direct the Family Support Services Unit or the Communicable Disease Prevention and Control Unit. You will supervise nursing and support staff, develop program goals and policies, and perform professional nursing work within your program. You may also coordinate and supervise the operation of health-related services like Targeted Case Management and programs involving education, prevention, and coordination of resources.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

A typical way of gaining the knowledge, skills, and abilities for this position is: Equivalent to graduation from a four-year college or university (accredited by the National League for Nursing) with major coursework in nursing and four (4) years of general public health nursing experience with involvement in project leadership or program planning, including one (1) year of lead-level experience. A master's degree in public health or public health nursing is desirable.

• Possession of a valid California Registered Nurse License
• Possession of a valid California State Public Health Nursing Certificate
• Willing to work evenings or weekends
• Ability to travel to various locations within and outside the City of Berkeley to meet the program needs and to fulfill the job responsibilities. When driving on City business, must maintain a valid California driver's license and a satisfactory driving record.

Behavioral Health Clinician I:
Behavioral Health Clinicians at this level provide a variety of community behavioral health services to clients and to the community in an outpatient setting. Responsibilities include conducting assessments; performing case coordination, care management, and rehabilitative services; providing diagnosis and treatment plans; providing psychotherapy; providing linkage to resources and support to maintain resources; and preparing reports, case summaries, and other required forms.

Behavioral Health Clinician II:
At this level, Behavioral Health Clinicians handle more complex or difficult client cases. In addition to the responsibilities of a Behavioral Health Clinician I, incumbents at this level may lead teams conducting intake assessments and crisis intervention. 

Required Qualifications

Both positions require a master's degree from a recognized school of Social Work, Counseling, Psychiatric Nursing, or other Marriage and Family Therapy eligible discipline, or a doctorate degree in Psychology. 

Behavioral Health Clinician I:

Field placement of at least one (1) year in a medical, psychiatric, or community mental health setting

AND

Registration as an Associate Marriage and Family Therapist (AMFT), Associate Clinical Social Worker (ACSW), and/or Associate Professional Clinical Counselor (APCC) with the State of California Board of Behavioral Sciences (BBS) OR a Registered Psychologist with the Board of Psychology. 

Behavioral Health Clinician II: 

Two (2) years of experience in an out-patient clinic, hospital, child guidance clinic, mental health program, or family agency which included regular psychiatric consultation

License as a Clinical Social Worker, Marriage and Family Therapist, LPCC, or Psychologist, as provided for by California state law.
