The Position

The Town of Atherton invites you to apply for the position of Front Desk Receptionist / Clerk for the City Manager’s Office. The position requires an individual to provide responsible professional, administrative, and technical assistance to support the City Manager’s Office which includes City Clerk functions. The individual will provide administrative support and general reception for the Town Hall. The administrative functions include, but are not limited to, supporting activities to promote and prepare for Town meetings, processing applications for permits, customer service and public interaction related to Town programs and services, special projects based on needs; and assisting in office management functions.

Typical duties include, but are not limited to:

• Assist in providing support for community events that will include assistance with public engagement, planning, and outreach.
• Assist with preparing public meeting agenda packages and materials.
• Maintain files and filing systems in accordance with departmental policies and procedures.
• Provides support with calculating, preparing, issuing and/or submitting bills invoices, and other payment records for services.
• Provides general administrative support to the City Manager’s Office that may include drafting and maintaining departmental records, tracking and filing Town contracts.

The position will occasionally back up the City Clerk at evening meetings.

The City of Sunnyvale is looking to fill the Part-Time Golf Services Assistant position with a team member that believes the impossible is possible. Sunnyvale Golf Course is a par 70 regulation 18-hole course with numerous bunkers, dog legs and water holes. Sunnyvale is a well-manicured test of the player's skill stretching out to 6,255 yards. Sunken Gardens Golf Course is a 9-hole, 1,502-yard executive course. Sunken Gardens is ideal for the beginner golfer with ample practice facilities and shorter length holes. 

The Part-Time Golf Service Assistant is responsible for performing customer service and cash handling tasks in accordance with standard procedures and following specific instructions from the supervising staff. The Golf Service Assistant classification is distinguished from the higher classification of Assistant Golf Professional in that the latter has increased level of responsibility, such as explaining and enforcing rules of the game of golf, equipment repair, golf starting, and event coordination.
 

Working in the Public Works Department for the City of Sunnyvale as a Golf Services Assistant provides an opportunity to improve the golf courses in the community and see the results of your work. The City of Brisbane is currently recruiting certified Lifeguards for our beautiful year-round outdoor aquatic facility.  Lifeguards patrol and watch the activities in and around the community swimming pool, enforce regulations to prevent accidents, and rescue swimmers in distress.  A full job description is available at www.brisbaneca.org.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Education:  Graduation from high school or GED equivalent is desirable.  This provision may be waived for applicants 15 to 18 years of age with ability to obtain a valid work permit.

Experience:  Previous experience as a lifeguard, having worked with youth and WSI certification is desirable.

Special Requirements:  Current Lifeguarding, Standard First Aid, and CPR for the Professional Rescuer certificates are required. Current certifications for this program are not required prior to applying for position.

SALARY AND HOURS:

$18.08 - $18.99  -  $19.93 -  $20.93 -  $21.96 per hour.  This is a part-time position, paid sick leave benefit available. Initial appointments are generally made at the first step of this five step scale.  Hours will range from 15-25 hours per week.  Candidates that make the eligibility list may be selected for shifts as needed throughout the year.  Must be able to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays throughout the entire year.

This entry-level aquatics position is designed to give valuable training and orientation to the American Red Cross Learn-to-Swim Program, and the Mill Valley Aquatics Program for Individuals who desire to work in aquatics but don’t have required experience. Minimum age required to apply, 14 years old. 

EXAMPLES OF DUTIES:

• Assist Swim Instructor to provide all levels of swimming to all age groups.
• Follow the Instructors’ guidelines and directions working with the group or an individual as needed.
• Maintain certain class records and reports as required.
• Prepare instructional equipment, and clean up after classes.
• Provide basic locker room checks and regular restroom and facility light cleaning.

Read Santa Clara’s adult literacy program serves adults who seek to strengthen their basic literacy skills to achieve their goals as family members, workers, community members and lifelong learners.

The Position:

The Literacy Technology Assistant helps Read Santa Clara's adult learners gain basic digital literacy skills. The person helps adult learners 1:1 or in small groups learn how to use the literacy program's laptops and iPads as well as how to use literacy software on their own devices. The Literacy Technology Assistant may also be called on to support volunteer tutors or Read Santa Clara staff, as the need arises. The Literacy Technology Assistant is a patient, empathetic individual, who can teach basic technology skills to adults who have little or no digital literacy skills.

As an as-needed employee, this is an "at-will" position and there is no guarantee of hours. Hours are limited to 999 in a fiscal year or 960 hours in a fiscal year for retired CalPERS annuitants.

• Check in and check out RSC devices to adult learners.
• Advise volunteers on how to effectively incorporate technology in literacy instruction and assist them as-needed with the online platform used to turn in monthly tutoring reports
• Write user-friendly instructions/create tutorial videos to help adult learners/tutors use literacy software.
• Record data and provide reports of sessions held with learners and tutors.
• Support Read Santa Clara staff, as needed, on specific literacy projects.
