PHYSICAL, MENTAL AND ENVIRONMENTAL WORKING CONDITIONS

Position requires sitting, standing, walking on level and slippery surfaces, reaching, twisting, turning, kneeling, bending, stooping, squatting, crouching, grasping and making repetitive hand movement in the performance of daily duties. The position also requires both near and far vision when inspecting work and operating assigned equipment. The need to lift, carry and push tools, equipment and supplies weighing 25 pounds or more is also required. The Public Works, Transportation Engineering Division plans and operates a multi-modal transportation system with safe and convenient choices for walking, bicycling, driving and using transit, through local actions, and in coordination with regional and state transportation agencies. Our work is guided by a City adopted Mobility Action Plan, Vision Zero Action Plan and in Coordination with the City's Mobility Commission. 

The City is currently developing its first Active Transportation Plan (ATP), which updates and consolidates its previous Bicycle Master Plan and Pedestrian Master Plan and provides guidance for its active transportation programs for the next five years.

The Position

The Senior Transportation Engineer plays a key role in implementing Fremont's General Plan vision to be "a national model of how an auto-oriented suburb can evolve into a sustainable, strategically urban, modern city." Specific City goals and current projects include implementing the "Vision Zero" traffic safety improvement program, transforming Fremont's transportation corridors into "complete streets" that are safe, comfortable, and convenient for all travel modes and users of "All Ages and Abilities", reducing the number of vehicle miles traveled, expanding available transit services, modernizing the City's traffic signal system, upgrading State Highway corridors, and supporting new innovations in transportation technology.

Ross Valley Sanitary District is seeking an Inspector excited to join our high performing team. Inspectors work with contractors, homeowners and real estate agents to ensure construction projects meet District standards while educating and providing excellent customer service to the public.

Under general supervision of the Senior Engineer, the Inspector performs advanced, complex, and critical inspections of District infrastructure. Working independently, the Inspector is responsible for ensuring compliance with District regulations and codes related to the repair of District infrastructure, construction of private sewers, and collection system pump stations. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:

• Check and review construction plans for construction and repair on public and private sewers.
