Applications are being accepted for the position of Civil Engineering Intern (part-time hourly/temporary) with the Town of Hillsborough - Public Works Department.

Academic Experience
Interns with relevant coursework in the following fields are encouraged to consider assignments in the Public Works Department:
- Civil Engineering
- Water resources
- Construction Management
- Environmental Engineering
- Traffic Engineering
- Land Development
Preferred candidates will have strong skills in Microsoft office, GIS mapping, GPS marking, and Autocad are desired, but not required.
Interns may assist with the following:
- Survey utilities, property lines and sensitive species areas in Town owned open spaces or rights-of-way using GPS.
- Assist with developing database and mapping using ArcGIS.
- Assist with implementation of the Town’s computerized maintenance management system.
- Assisting with development of Capital Improvement Programs for sewer, water, and street departments.
- Assist with Public Outreach and content development.
Desirable Skills
Surveying, familiarity with Trimble GPS units or other similar equipment, GIS, writing skills, able to work independently, good research skills, able to work outdoors and in heavily vegetated areas on steep terrain, , work safely.

Academic Credit
Students seeking academic credit for their internship must check with their respective school for requirements. If credit is desired the Town will make a reasonable effort to assist in meeting your school requirements.
Compensation
Interns will be paid for their services between $25 to $30 based on skills and background. Flexible weekly hours will range from part time to full time hours, depending upon assignment.
Restrictions
Internships are limited to no more than 960 hours in a fiscal year and are non-benefitted positions.
