The Position

The Housing Authority of the County of San Mateo seeks a collaborative, innovative problem solver, experienced with housing authority operations for the position of Executive Director to provide exceptional leadership at a high-performing agency.

With general direction from the Department of Housing Director and Housing Authority Board of Commissioners, the Executive Director organizes, coordinates, and directs through management staff all Housing Authority functions and activities; provides policy guidance and strategic direction regarding housing issues; fosters cooperative working relationships with the Board, HACSM staff, the public and other agencies; and performs related work as assigned. This position has overall responsibility for department administration, policy development, financial, operational and planning functions, and other activities of the Housing Authority. The incumbent is responsible for accomplishing all HACSM goals and objectives in an effective, efficient, and equitable manner.

Example of Duties

• Plan, organize, coordinate, and direct through subordinate staff, the work of the Housing Authority.
• Establish organizational priorities; schedule and monitor the quality and timeliness of the work performed.
• Work closely with and advise the DOH Director, the Board of Commissioners, Housing Authority staff, the public and other agencies to implement a variety of efficient and effective housing programs
• Ensure compliance with local-, state-, and federally mandated standards.
• Provide ongoing vision for how HACSM and its programs integrate with the County of San Mateo.
• Direct the preparation of agenda items for the Board of Commissioners.
• Interpret, analyze and defend HACSM policies, procedures and programs.
• Coordinate the preparation and presentation of a wide variety of reports to the Board, the public and other agencies.
• Direct the development and implementation of management systems, procedures and the application of standards for program evaluation on an Authority-wide basis.
• Direct the creation and administration of the comprehensive annual budget for Housing Authority operations.
• Maintain current knowledge of federal, state and local laws and ordinances affecting the Housing Authority.
• Promote racial and social equity within HACSM, its teams and processes, and through the agency’s public-facing programs.
• Provide supervision to the Housing Authority management team and advise the team on federal, state, County and Board policy.
• Foster a positive work environment valuing teamwork, equity, and high-quality work products.
• Represent the Housing Authority before the Board, and in other meetings involving local, regional, state, and federal stakeholders.
• Perform related duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

Any combination of education and experience that would likely provide the required knowledge, skills, and abilities is qualifying. A typical way to qualify is:

• Three+ years of managerial experience in a social or community service program, preferably in a housing authority program.

Salary Information
The salary range for Maintenance Worker II is $64,604.80- $78,582.40.
Actual salary shall be determined by the final candidates' qualifications and experience.The Department of Public Works is seeking to fill a Maintenance Worker I position in the HVAC Shop located at the Central Service Yard within the Facilities Management Division. The Maintenance Worker I will support the basic preventative maintenance of the air conditioning work group. This position reports directly to the Air Conditioning Supervisor for various daily assignments. Working under immediate supervision and working with HVAC Staff and/or independently in mechanical rooms and on rooftops would be a regular occurrence.

Typical duties include but are not limited to:

• Performs preventive maintenance functions on Exhaust Fans, HVAC Package units and Air Handlers.
• Clean HVAC Cooling Towers and Mechanical Rooms.
• Install V-belts on HVAC Equipment.
• Uses general carpentry, mechanical and hand tools such as power saws, hand saws, drills, pliers, wrenches, hammers, screwdrivers, ladders and other tools and equipment.
• Installs air filters in various types of air conditioning equipment.
• Cleans aluminum finned condenser and evaporator coils.
• Performs minor semi-skilled carpentry and plumbing repair work.
• Maintains database records of their daily work with the Departments inventory management system.

This position may require working some weekends and/or holidays. Ability to perform the essential functions of this position will be determined by a post-offer medical examination conducted by City of San Jose Employee Health Services.

The HVAC SHOP maintains all City-Wide Facilities, including Police Buildings. The San Jose Police Department requires all civilians working at their facilities pass a background check and obtain a Civilian Police Badge. The Maintenance Worker I candidate will be expected to apply for and successfully pass the Police Department background check, to successfully pass their probationary period.

The County of Yuba is actively recruiting to fill current vacancies and establish an employment list for the position of Public Safety Dispatcher within the Sheriff’s Department.  The incumbent receives 9-1-1 system sheriff, fire, medical emergency and rescue calls; dispatches sheriff, fire and medical personnel following established procedures; maintains communication with officers in the field to ensure safety and provide back-up and information; provides relief coverage for the records unit; and performs related work as assigned. These classifications require shift work and the ability to make decisions and act appropriately in stressful situations. The Finance Department has an opportunity to staff a Senior Info Technology Technician.  We seek a skilled individual with the competence and experience to address IT challenges confidently and professionally. Primary Responsibilities

• Responds to inquiries regarding PC systems and programs at user sites throughout the City
• Troubleshoots hardware and software problems and recommends hardware, software, and configuration changes for City-wide implementation
• Installs desktop/laptop equipment and software; customizes installed software to specific requirements of the user department; reconfigures software to correct problems or conflicts between applications and hardware
• Provide desktop support and troubleshooting to City staff
• Serves as local area network (LAN) administrator; ensures LAN performance, maintains security, creates new users, and installs related hardware
• Installs virus signature files on servers and workstations for use with an anti-virus system; responds to and troubleshoots virus invasions of the City network

Under the administrative direction of the Ports Finance and Administration Division, the Information Systems (IS) Director plans, directs, and coordinates information system operations and activities for the Port of San Francisco. This includes overseeing system design, development, and implementation, as well as coordinating data and information systems across departments. The IS Director is responsible for the operation and maintenance of these systems.

The Port is in the process of replacing several business-critical systems in the next five years, including real estate and work order management systems.  The IS Director will lead these efforts, requiring the creation of a systems strategic plan that aligns different systems with the Port’s primary business needs while integrating with citywide financial and payroll systems.  This plan will involve collaborating with business divisions to identify and prioritize system requirements, such as vacancy, profit and loss, and common area expense allocation reports for the real estate portfolio, as well as berthing management systems for various visiting ships and boats.

The IS Director will also identify necessary business division process changes and establish short- and long-term deliverables. This position oversees two distinct functions: an applications group responsible for implementing and maintaining technology applications tailored to the Port’s needs, and an infrastructure group that ensures a stable and secure environment for desktop and mobile devices.

The essential duties of IS Director include the following:

• Develops and implements the strategic systems plan for the Port.
• Leads the IS division, building capacity and supporting the infrastructure and business applications teams.
• Plans and directs the day-to-day information systems activities for the Port, including application and infrastructure support, desktop administration and IS Help Desk support services.
• Performs continuous evaluation and assessment of all activities, providing timely reports to upper management. 
• Develops and manages the IS budget, including project management and hardware/software procurement.
• Develops and manages the Port’s technology policies, standards, and strategy, ensuring alignment with citywide technology goals and standards.
• Oversees devices and information management, security and compliance, risk management and response, and technology governance.
• Supervises, evaluates, trains, and coach staff and consultants in the performance of their assigned duties, adhering to departmental and city and county standards, policies, and procedures.
• Serves as liaison and representative of the Port with various City and County staff, policy-making officials, and officials of external agencies.

The mission of the City of San José 's Park Ranger Program is to provide a safe, enjoyable park experience by protecting and educating the public, providing recreational opportunities, and by protecting, preserving, and enhancing the natural and cultural resources of the City's parks, trails, and open spaces.

Over the course of the program's 50+ year history, San José Park Rangers have worked to ensure a safe and enjoyable atmosphere in city parks. Park Rangers assist park users, provide information on appropriate park use, and educate visitors on park rules and procedures. As public safety officers, Park Rangers also render emergency medical care, conduct search and rescue operations, and perform wildland fire prevention patrols as well as provide initial wildland fire suppression. As stewards of the City's natural and cultural resources, Park Rangers work to protect and monitor park lands, restore native vegetation, maintain rustic hiking trails, and educate the public on the cultural and natural history of San José. Supervising Park Ranger Position & Duties:

• Prepares and reviews written reports such as police, fire, injury, activity, vandalism, and visitor data reports; may make court appearances.

• Supervises and performs the preparation and presentation of interpretive and educational programs related to park services to civic groups and park visitors.
• Recommends improvements and inspects conservation and resource management projects to maintain and restore the natural and cultural resources in City parks and undeveloped City park lands.
• Monitors weather and fire condition reports; may recommend restricting park use.

Additional duties may include:

• Performs and directs search, rescue, fire suppression, and other emergency activities; may coordinate activities with other public safety agencies.
• Completes equipment and supply requisitions.
• Provides budget input on needed personnel, equipment, supplies, and related items.
• Performs enforcement duties such as park patrol and writing misdemeanor citations; may make arrests of persons in violation of Federal, State, or Municipal rules and regulations.
