The City of Berkeley invites you to apply for the position of Equipment Parts Technician in the Public Works Department! In this role, you will have the opportunity to plan, monitor, and manage the ordering, purchasing, storing, billing, issuing and maintenance control of equipment parts, accessories and supplies utilized in the service and repair of the City vehicles and equipment and to perform other related duties.

There are two shop locations – one at the Corporation Yard which focuses on light duty vehicles and one at the Transfer Station which focuses on heavy duty vehicles. This is an amazing opportunity for a self starter to organize the parts room and support the staff, the division, and the entire City fleet.

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

A typical way of gaining the knowledge, skills, and abilities for this position is equivalent to graduation from high school and two (2) years of experience ordering, purchasing, issuing, and maintaining electronic inventory systems for heavy equipment parts and/or automotive parts and accessories.

Other requirements include possessing a valid California driver's license and have a satisfactory driving record.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Frequent walking, standing, sitting, kneeling, squatting, twisting, and bending at the waist. Ability to hear automotive sounds, read fine print, and view a computer monitor. Sufficient strength and stamina to lift and transport parts weighing up to 80 pounds. Manual dexterity for detailed mechanical work and computer use. 

WORKING CONDITIONS
Work is performed indoors and outdoors with exposure to hot and cold environments. Noise level ranges from moderate to high. Potential exposure to hazardous materials and emergency conditions. Must be available to work evening and weekend shifts.

The Water and Sewer Utilities Department (Department) is a utility enterprise responsible for the planning, design, construction, maintenance, and operation of the City's water distribution, sewer collection, and recycled water systems. The Position: 

This is an entry-level maintenance position within the Department. Incumbents are typically assigned to a crew and perform semi-skilled work related to the maintenance, repair, and operation of water, sewer, or recycled water infrastructure. This position may require working irregular hours and extended shifts when job assignments run longer than expected or during emergency response activities. Employees may be exposed to raw sewage, muddy conditions, trenches, and work environments located on busy city streets.

 

Under direction, this position performs work related to the operation, maintenance, inspection, repair, rehabilitation, and replacement of the City of Santa Clara’s water distribution system, sanitary sewer collection system, and recycled water system. Work includes performing heavy physical labor associated with routine maintenance, system repairs, and emergency response activities related to the City's utility infrastructure and associated appurtenances.

 

This position requires one (1) year of related experience. Related experience may include work involving pipefitting, plumbing, commercial or residential construction, underground utility construction, landscaping, paving, warehouse operations, facility maintenance, steelwork, HVAC work, or heavy equipment operations.

 

As an as-needed employee, this is an "at-will" position and there is no guarantee of hours. Hours are limited to 999 in a fiscal year or 960 hours in a fiscal year for retired CalPERS annuitants.

ABOUT THE POSITION

CSWs perform a variety of skilled - journey level work and manual labor in the operations, maintenance, and repair of sewer lines and related mechanical, hydraulic and hand-operated equipment. Collection System Workers are on a 9/80 schedule - Monday through Thursday from 6:00 am to 3:30 pm, with Fridays alternating between 6:00 am -2:30 pm and off work. All Collection System Workers also work on a rotating “on call” basis.

SAMPLE DUTIES OF THE CSW CLASSIFICATION INCLUDE:

• Participate in inspecting, cleaning, maintaining, constructing, and repairing of wastewater collection systems utilizing a variety of mechanical and specialized equipment including, but not limited to, rodders, CCTVs, high velocity cleaners, vacuum trucks, construction equipment, and related equipment.
• Perform a variety of manual tasks such as lifting and carrying heavy loads including material, equipment, and debris with assistance and utilizing equipment when appropriate.

Minimum Qualifications

• Completion of the twelfth grade, or its equivalent.
• Two years general maintenance and construction experience
• Valid California Class "C" Driver's License
• Must have a satisfactory driving record and continue to meet District vehicle liability insurance company driving standards.

To be considered for the CSW II classification, two years of collection system maintenance and operations is required.

THE DEPARTMENT

The Water Quality Control Plant (WQCP) processes wastewater discharge for the cities of South San Francisco, San Bruno and the Town of Colma. THE LABORATORY

The WQCP laboratory conducts vital chemical and microbiological tests to the wastewater treatment plant 365 days a year. The laboratory analyzes water samples throughout the various stages of treatment process, and provides the operation with quick feedback critical to maintaining and optimizing the treatment process as well as meeting requirements for regulatory monitoring. The Laboratory is accredited by the Environmental Laboratory Accreditation Program (ELAP) under the State Water Resources Control Board, and maintains accreditation in accordance with the 2016 TNI Standard. 

San Mateo County Health is seeking a dynamic and experienced leader to serve as the Health Services Manager I - Public Authority within Aging and Disability Services (ADS).

About the Role
This position oversees the administration of the Public Authority (PA) for In Home Supportive Services (IHSS) in San Mateo County.

Important Note: The PA Health Services Manager (HSM) is not a County classified position; however, the role reports directly within ADS. The eligible list generated from this recruitment may be used to fill future extra-help, term, unclassified and regular classified vacancies.

This is a full-time position working Monday–Friday. A hybrid schedule may be available; however, approximately four on-site workdays per week are anticipated based on operational needs and County requirements.

• Provides staffing and strategic support to the Public Authority Advisory Committee
• Works collaboratively with County Board of Supervisors staff

• Represents ADS on broader County initiatives, performance measures, and cross departmental projects, as needed

The City of Thousand Oaks Public Works Department is seeking an Assistant Analyst to support the Sustainability Division in advancing the City’s sustainability and energy initiatives. This position plays a key role in managing and analyzing complex data related to energy, water, waste, and electric vehicle infrastructure, while supporting implementation of the Climate and Environmental Action Plan (CEAP).

The Assistant Analyst assists with benchmarking, reporting, GIS mapping, and coordination of external energy programs, as well as contract development and tracking funding opportunities to ensure compliance and maximize program impact. Through public outreach, vendor coordination, and continuous improvement efforts, this role helps advance innovative solutions that promote energy efficiency, renewable energy adoption, and the City’s long-term sustainability and environmental goals.

SALARY 

The anticipated hiring range for the Assistant Analyst position is $80,594 - $100,743 annually, with a full salary range up to $120,892. The City typically makes offers within the hiring range based on the candidate’s experience and qualifications. 
 

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES: 

• Support in collecting, cleaning, and analyzing sustainability data, including energy, water, waste, and EV charging
• Assist with the development of dashboards, reports, and data visualizations for internal and public use
• Support sustainability benchmarking, ongoing reporting, and greenhouse gas (GHG) inventory updates

The Sustainability Analyst I is the entry-level class in the Sustainability Analyst series. Incumbents in this class provide varied professional clerical and technical support in the administration of solid waste, recycling, organics and related sustainability programs.

The Sustainability Analyst II is the journey-level class in the Sustainability Analyst series. Incumbents are expected to be fully competent in all major solid waste and recycling program functions and able to independently perform assignments.

Incumbents at both levels are required to have an in-depth and comprehensive knowledge of the policies and procedures necessary to achieve program results.

Positions in the Sustainability Analyst series are flexibly staffed. Incumbents may advance to the higher level after gaining the knowledge, skill, experience, licenses, and certifications which meet the qualifications for and demonstrating the ability to perform the work of the higher-level class.

EXAMPLES OF DUTIES (illustrative only): 

• Perform research, field investigations and statistical analyses related to integrated solid waste management including waste reduction, reuse, recycling, and composting; compile and analyze data; identify and evaluate discrepancies, and proactively find solutions; formulate recommendations and viable alternatives; prepare, deliver, and/or present a variety of oral and/or written reports. 
• Assist in developing and conducting special projects, studies, surveys, and research assignments, policy, services, public education and outreach, data management, contract administration, for an office, department or division, as assigned. 
• Designs and develops a variety of materials and activities to promote, implement, and evaluate assigned sustainability and environmental programs in a manner that will enhance public awareness, educate citizens to relevant environmental issues, and encourage proactive and cooperative problem-solving activities. 
• Works with program staff on contract administration, program development, maintenance and continuous improvement. 
• Provide sustainability related technical assistance to city departments, divisions, staff, the public, community organization and businesses. 
• Analyze and initiate recommendations to develop, improve, and/or ensure legislation compliance for department or division programs, systems, procedures, and methods of operation. 
• Organizes and participates in assigned program area activities, including contract management and compliance, customer service and outreach, data collection and analysis, and presentation of technical and specialized data. 
• Assist in the implementation and maintenance of programs, services, systems, policies, processes, procedures, manuals, and forms for use in operation; provide personnel training on related areas. 
• Assist in the development, coordination, and monitoring of the department or division budget; research and evaluate costs; provide budget tracking tasks as required. 
• Participate in administering contracts with contractors, subcontractors and consultants, ensure documents and reports comply with City contract standards; monitor programs for compliance with applicable scopes of service, rules, regulations, laws, and policies. 
• Represent the City and/or department in interdepartmental, community, civic and professional meetings, public forums, and conferences as required; make presentations as necessary. 
• Builds and maintains positive working relationships with coworkers, other City employees, other organizations and their representatives, and the general public, exhibiting effective customer service and communication skills. 
• Participates with other City departments, community service providers, consultants, other jurisdictions and agencies in sustainability and environmental program development and coordination efforts as well as legislative advocacy and education. 
• Monitor and coordinate the daily operation of assigned functional area; perform detail-oriented work and maintain accurate records, systems, processes, and statistics; evaluate using appropriate metrics. 
• Develops and maintains databases, contract compliance tracking records, and forms as needed. 
• May conduct presentations related to City's sustainability and solid waste and recycling programs and services upon request. 
• Perform other related duties as assigned.

The Department:

The Water Quality Control Plant (WQCP) processes wastewater discharge for the cities of South San Francisco, San Bruno and the Town of Colma. The Water Quality Control Plant is a division of the Public Works Department staffed by 38 employees including: Plant Superintendent and Assistant Plant Superintendent of WQCP; Maintenance, Laboratory and Environment Compliance Supervisors; Senior Chemist; Chemist; Lead Plant Mechanics; Plant Mechanics; Lead Plant Operators; Plant Operators; Electricians; Senior Environmental Compliance Inspector; Environmental Compliance Inspectors, Utility Workers, and two Administrative Assistants.
