THE ENGINEERING DEPARTMENT

Pay: $30.00 - $90.00 Hourly

Interim Professional is a temporary employee hired to meet a specific, short term need to perform complex professional level and/or advanced technical responsibilities, which may require the application of technical skills and/or knowledge of detailed or specialized activities related to the functions of the Engineering Department.

For this assignment the City of Sebastopol is seeking an engaging, inclusive, collaborative, and talented leader who is well-versed in engineering principles and practices, project management, facility and infrastructure maintenance, water distribution and wastewater collection systems, public parks and facilities maintenance, laws, regulations, and safety standards. The incumbent serves and coordinates assigned activities with other departments and outside agencies.

This position plans, organizes, directs, and reviews the full range of activities and operations of the Engineering Department, including engineering design, public works construction and inspection, repair and maintenance of City infrastructure and streets, and transportation programs. The City of Sunnyvale is searching for a Budget Manager in the Department of Finance. The Budget Manager is a division-level manager responsible for developing, administering, and overseeing the City's sophisticated Operating and Capital Budgets and Twenty-Year Financial Plans. This position participates in the development of the City's financial systems, conducts and presents complex financial information and analysis to executive management and others to assist in policy decision making. This classification receives administrative direction from the Director of Finance or Assistant Director of Finance and exercises direct supervision over management, professional, technical and clerical staff in the Budget Division.

Minimum Qualifications

A Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in economics, accounting, finance, business or public administration or a closely related field, AND

Under direction, the Custodian performs routine manual cleaning tasks in public buildings, schools, other facilities, and surrounding areas. 

Examples of essential duties include but not limited to the following:

The responsibilities of the Staff Specialist may include, but are not limited to, being part of a team to co-develop a local community plan with environmental justice communities as part of the Air District's Community Health Protection Program(Assembly Bill 617). The person in this position may work on other Community Engagement and/or Environmental Justice projects, as assigned, such as Home Air Filtration Programs, community workshops and events, community grants, youth-oriented engagement projects, or other projects. Distinguishing Characteristics

Staff Specialist I is the entry level in this series. Initially under close supervision, incumbents learn District, state and federal procedures and policies while performing the more routine technical duties. As experience is gained, assignments become more diversified and are performed with less supervision. This class is alternately staffed with Staff Specialist II and incumbents may advance to the higher level classification after gaining experience and demonstrating proficiency which meet the qualifications of the higher level class.
Staff Specialist II is the journey level class of this series, fully-proficient to perform difficult and technical work. Incumbents are expected to exercise independent judgment.
This class is distinguished from Senior Staff Specialist in that the latter is responsible for more complex work and may perform lead duties.

Maintenance Worker II: This is the journey level in the maintenance worker series. Distinguishing Characteristics

Payroll/Personnel Coordinator IV is the lead or specialist level class in the Payroll/Personnel Coordinator series. This level is distinguished from the Payroll/Personnel Coordinator III in that the former is assigned to larger County departments with 24/7 operations, various locations, programs, and shifts or in central Human Resources or Controller's Office. At this level, work requires the analysis of unusual circumstances, understanding and proper application of complex and multiple labor contract provisions and assessing a variety of approaches to finding solutions. Actions to be taken or responses to be made differ in such things as the source of information, the kind of transaction or scenario, the type of employee and his/her eligibility for labor contract provisions. Positions at central HR and Controller's Office provide lead, guidance, and instructions to other departmental Coordinators.

In addition, the ideal candidate will have experience in Human Recourses and the Payroll System (Workday) and timekeeping system (Infor Workforce Management aka ATKS).

Qualifications

Education and Experience:

THE POSITION

The City of Pacifica is recruiting for a Wastewater Treatment Plant Operator I/II/III at the Calera Creek Water Recycling Plant. Under direct or general supervision of the Plant Manager or Assistant Superintendent - Operations, operates and controls wastewater treatment plant and reclamation and recycled water facilities; performs preventative and routine corrective maintenance on a variety of equipment, facilities and related appurtenances; and performs related work as required.

DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS

This is the full journey-level classification in the wastewater treatment plant operator series. Incumbents independently perform the full range of wastewater treatment and reclamation and recycled water facilities and equipment operations and maintenance duties. Responsibilities include inspecting and attending to assigned areas in a timely manner to ensure the proper operation and maintenance of the City’s wastewater treatment plant systems and equipment. Positions at this level work independently, exercise judgment and initiative and receive occasional instruction or assistance as new or unusual situations arise. This class is distinguished from the Lead Plant Operator in that the latter is responsible for providing technical and functional direction to operations staff and is capable of performing the most complex operations and maintenance duties assigned to the division.

SUPERVISION RECEIVED/EXERCISED

Receives supervision and direction from the Wastewater Treatment Plant Manager or designee. Exercises lead oversight, including provision of technical supervision, assignment of work and/or the training of less experienced staff.
