San Jose Animal Care Services, a division in the Public Works Department is currently seeking to fill four (4) full-time Animal Care Attendant vacancies. Both day and night shifts are available.

Animal Care Attendants report to the Shelter Manager of Animal Care and Services and are primarily responsible for feeding, caring for, and moving shelter animals; euthanizing animals; and cleaning and disinfecting kennels and cages. Other duties may include receiving animals brought to the shelter by Animal Control Officers or the public; assisting the public in claiming impounded animals or in adoptions; completing and maintaining animal records; responding to questions regarding age, breed characteristics and treatment of animals; and explaining and interpreting animal control laws, ordinances, regulations, procedures, and policies to the public.

Animal Care Attendants are required to work weekends, holidays, nights, rotating shifts, and respond to emergency animal services assignments during off-duty hours.

Employees must possess the ability to lift, carry, push, and pull materials and objects up to 100 pounds while handling animals and equipment. Employees may work outside and be exposed to inclement weather, may be exposed to blood borne pathogens while using hypodermic needles on animals, may be exposed to animal scratches and bites, and may be subjected to moving mechanical parts, fumes, odors, gases, chemicals, pollens, and other airborne irritants.

This position will undergo training (4-6 weeks) during normal business hours and will be scheduled to work 5 days a week in either a daytime shift OR overnight shift ( e.g . 9:00 pm to 5:30 a m) after training has been completed. This position will be require d to work weekends, holidays, rotating shifts, and respond to emergency animal services assignments.

Salary range s for this classification are:

Animal Care Attendant I : The hourly range for Animal Care Attendant I is $2 5.44 - $ 30.94 approximately .

This range i ncludes an approximate five percent (5%) ongoing non-pensionable compensation. Actual salary shall be de termined b y the final candidates' qualifications and experience.

The City of Patterson is currently recruiting to fill one (1) vacancy for a part-time Facility Custodian with the Recreation & Community Services Department and to establish an Eligibility List.

Duties include, but are not limited to: under general supervision, performs routine custodial and cleaning duties in municipal buildings and adjacent grounds; performs related work as assigned.

This is a part time position with hours up to 19 hours per week.  Must be available to work nights and weekends with varying shifts and schedules.  

The City of Patterson is seeking to fill one (1) part-time vacancy for a Facility Attendant in the Recreation Department and to establish an eligibility list.

Duties include, but are not limited to: under direct supervision, performs a variety of facility related tasks to ensure effective operations at the Recreation and Community Services Complex and related facilities and parks. Prepares facilities for use; works with users during events; provides set-up and arrangements for classes, meetings, and public and private events; registers participants for recreational programs; assists with cleaning and maintaining of Community Services' facilities including removing and disposing of trash, sweeping, and mopping of floors.  Provides staff support for recreation events and programs.

The Senior Civil Engineer or Project Manager will manage assigned staff and consultants and assist with budgeting tasks within the Engineering Division. Hours: Casual non-benefited employees are limited to working no more than twenty-five (25) hours per week and no more than 900 hours in a fiscal year (July 1-June 30). Varying shifts are available including Monday through Friday between 8:30 a.m. and 8 p.m. and Saturdays and Sundays from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Contacts are regularly made both internally and externally at all levels of the organization involving tact, discretion, good listening and customer service skills. The position requires creative ability, knowledge of how to generate graphics using The Adobe Suite, Canva, Microsoft Publisher, Word and Excel and the ability to exercise a reasonable degree of independent judgment. This classification assists with development and implementation of standards for consistency in materials, written and posted on the internet. Additionally, the position requires good written communication skills, public relations, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills and abilities. The Marketing Associate receives direction from program supervisors and management staff.

WORKING CONDITIONS
Position is required to work on the Community Center campus and may not work from home. Position requires prolonged sitting, standing, walking, reaching, twisting, turning, kneeling, bending, squatting and stooping in the performance of daily activities. The position also requires grasping, repetitive hand movement and fine coordination when using a computer keyboard. Additionally, the position requires near and far vision when reading and using a computer. Acute hearing is required when providing phone and personal service. The need to lift, push and pull files, paper and documents weighing up to 25 pounds also is required. Minimum Qualifications

Education and Experience:
The minimum qualifications for education and experience can be met in the following way:

• A bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in marketing, communications, graphic arts or a closely related field; AND

Summary Description

Under the administrative direction of the Public Works Director, assists in planning, directing, and organizing the activities and operations of the Water, Wastewater, Streets, Parks, Facilities and Fleet Divisions of the Public Works Department. Specifically responsible for providing leadership, management and administration of highly complex technical, financial, statistical and analytical work of the Department. The incumbent may assist the Director in public activities or meetings and oversees coordination of other services areas as directed.  Provides general supervision to subordinate level professional, technical, maintenance, recreation, and clerical staff.  Performs other job-related work as required.

Representative Duties

The following duties are typical for this classification. Incumbents may not perform all of the listed duties and/or may be required to perform additional or different duties from those set forth below to address business needs and changing business practices.

1. Provides direct technical and administrative assistance to the Director of Public Works concerning the operations of the Public Works Department.
2. Plan, organize, and direct assigned divisional activities, including planning, directing, supervising, and coordinating operations and maintenance activities of assigned division(s), which may include water production, treatment and distribution, construction, operation, maintenance, and repair; wastewater collection, treatment, and disposal; maintenance of the City’s streets and storm drain systems; and parks, facilities and fleet operations and maintenance.
3. Assist and participate in the development and implementation of department goals, objectives, policies, and priorities for assigned programs; recommend and administer policies and procedures.
4. Monitor and evaluate the efficiency and effectiveness of service delivery methods and procedures; recommend, within departmental policy, appropriate service, and staffing levels.
5. Plan, direct, coordinate, and review the work plan for assigned staff; assign work activities, projects, and programs; review and evaluate work products, methods, and procedures; meet with staff to identify and resolve problems.
6. Select, train, motivate, mentor, counsel, coach and evaluate assigned personnel; provide or coordinate staff training; work with employees to correct deficiencies; implement discipline and termination procedures.
7. Builds and maintains respectful relationships, positive working relationships with staff, supervisors, outside agencies, and the public utilizing principles of good customer service; provides effective conflict resolution, as needed.
8. Oversee and participate in the development and administration of the assigned divisions’ annual budgets; participate in the forecast of funds needed for staffing, equipment, materials, and supplies; monitor and approve expenditures; implement adjustments.
9. Assist in the preparation of the City’s Capital Improvement Program as related to assigned division.
10. Develop and standardize maintenance and operating procedures and methods to meet state and federal regulations and improve the efficiency and effectiveness of operations and maintenance activities.
11. Prepare specifications, estimates, and bids for machinery, tools, equipment, and contract services; recommend, monitor, and administer contracts for consulting, construction, or other services as necessary; inspect work in progress and authorizes payment for work performed.
12. Monitor changes in regulatory agency laws and regulations; evaluate their impact upon City activities; recommend and implement policy and procedure changes as required.
13. Develop, implement, and ensure adherence to the department’s Safety Program, Standard Operating Procedures, OSHA regulations, and Radiologic Health Standards.
14. Produce required regulatory reports and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, laws, codes, and enforcement actions.
15. Prepare records related to operations, test results, work performed, and materials and supplies used; maintain accurate records and files; prepare periodic and special reports as required.
16. Research special projects, evaluate alternatives, prepare reports and recommendations; write correspondence, and respond to public and regulatory agency inquiries and provide pertinent information.
17. Respond to emergencies as required; coordinate activities with other responders to provide effective response; direct the work of staff and utilization of resources to affect operational effectiveness and ensure the safety of the community.
18. Serve as the liaison for the Public Works Department with other departments, and outside agencies; negotiate and resolve sensitive and controversial issues.
19. Serve as staff on a variety of boards, commissions, and committees; prepare and present staff reports and other necessary correspondence.
20. Conduct a variety of organizational studies, investigations, and operational studies; recommend modifications to programs, policies, and procedures as appropriate.
21. Attend and participate in professional group meetings; maintain awareness of new trends and developments in the field or fields related to the assigned division(s); incorporate new developments as appropriate.

Education and Experience Guidelines - Any combination of education and experience that would likely provide the required knowledge and abilities is qualifying. A typical way to obtain the knowledge and abilities would be:

Education/Training:

Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with major course work in civil engineering, urban studies, public administration, physical or natural sciences, or a related fields. A Master’s degree is highly desirable.

Experience:

Four years of increasingly responsible professional experience with a public agency in engineering, planning, public administration, or closely related field including two years of administrative and supervisory responsibility.

License or Certificate:

Possession of an appropriate, valid driver’s license.

The City of Sunnyvale is seeking a Building Inspector to provide building construction inspections. Depending on the applicant qualifications, the position will be filled at the appropriate level/salary of either a Building Inspector I or Building Inspector II.
