Work Environment:  This position is part of the Land and Facilities Services Department assigned to a primary field office and will visit other Midpen field sites. Education and Experience:  Any combination of training and experience that would provide the required knowledge, skills, and abilities is qualifying. A typical way to obtain the required qualifications would be:   

 

Equivalent to the completion of the twelfth (12th) grade supplemented by college-level coursework in park maintenance, resource management, or a related field and three (3) years of experience in construction, maintenance, and/or repair of parks, open spaces, and/or related facilities, and/or resource management.

 

Licenses & Certifications Required:    

• Possession of a valid California Class C Driver’s License.
• Possession of, or ability to obtain, Basic First Aid and Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certification within six (6) months of employment.
• Depending on assignment, possession of, or ability to obtain, a valid California Class A Driver’s License and required endorsements within the probationary period.
• Depending on assignment, possession of, or ability to obtain, a valid Grade I Water Treatment Operator Certificate and Grade I Water Distribution Operator Certificate issued by the California Department of Public Health (CDPH).
• Depending on assignment, possession of, or ability to obtain, a California Qualified Applicators Certificate with Landscape Maintenance (Category B) for pesticide application within (12) months of employment.

The City of Berkeley is seeking applications for a part-time Mealsite Coordinator! In this role, you will be responsible for setting up mealsite areas in preparation for senior meal service as well as assigning and training volunteers. LIBRARIAN I/II (For internal/promotional only)

Serve the City of San Bruno by developing Library Resources and Programs in our community! 

The City of San Bruno offers a unique opportunity to serve as a Librarian I/II, with a particular focus on youth services. Librarians perform professional library work including programming, reference services, cataloging, interlibrary loans, and children’s or adult services, with an emphasis on fostering literacy and lifelong learning among young patrons. They work under the supervision of the Library Services Manager and the Community Services Superintendent and may provide indirect supervision to paraprofessional staff of the library, ensuring high-quality support for youth and other community members alike. 

 

Librarian I is entry level position, responsible for a limited scope of a library program area, which requires the application of fundamental library science principles and practices.  

 

Librarian II is a journey level position, distinguished from that of Librarian I, by the greater complexity of the assignments and by the greater independence with which the employee is expected to operate. 

 

Examples of the essential duties and responsibilities include:  

 

• Perform professional work in rendering reference services, reader's advisory, and library instruction to patrons, with a special emphasis on youth and children’s services. This includes classification and cataloging of materials, ordering of books, documents, periodicals, and other materials. 

• Secure books through interlibrary loan system; search appropriate databases and identify books and other materials; request materials from an appropriate source; process materials for distribution to the patron; respond to requests from other libraries for interlibrary loans. 

• Assist in the development and implementation of programs and services such as outreach to homebound patrons, public relations, coordination of volunteers, children's services outreach through the city’s programming network and other social media outlets. 

• Conduct children's story times, focusing on early literacy development and engagement. 

• Prepare publicity; coordinate the publication of brochures; coordinate the dissemination of Library program publicity, particularly for children’s and youth services. 

• Review book collection to determine additional materials needed; selects materials for repair or discard. 

• Attends and represents the library at professional meetings as required. 

• Perform other duties as assigned. 

 

In addition to graduation from a master’s degree in library science from an American Library Association (ALA) accredited college of university, the ideal candidate will demonstrate the following competencies:

THE POSITION

The Human Resources Manager, an at-will position, under general direction of the Assistant City Manager, recommends, develops, implements and evaluates goals, objectives, policies and procedures related to assigned human resource program functions, such as benefits, classification and compensation, recruitment and selection, among others. Consults and collaborates with City departments, employees, labor organizations, commissions, advisory boards and the public on relevant aspects of assigned program area. This is a management classification located in the City’s central Human Resources Division with overall responsibility for the day-to-day operations, which has Citywide impact.
