The City of San Bruno Public Library is currently recruiting for a part-time, temporary Library Assistant—Homework Center Supervisor. Candidates must be able to commit from January 2026 to June 2026, for 17 hours per week and availability Monday 2-6PM, Tuesday 2-6PM, Wednesday 1-6PM and Thursday 2-6PM (with the exception of Library and San Bruno Park School District holidays). Although this is a six-month position, the program is ongoing. Continued employment in subsequent school years may be considered based on performance and program needs.

Under the direction of the Library Services Manager, the Library Assistant—Homework Center Supervisor is responsible for the daily operations of the Library's after-school Homework Center, including classroom management, homework help, supervising and training volunteers, collaborating with library staff, and maintaining
accurate records of homework center attendance. The incumbent will be responsible for
maintaining a welcoming place for students to do their homework effectively within the larger context of the library, and for planning STEAM weekly activities and training/supervising students in the use of the 3-D printer. The homework center is a free, drop-in, after-school program for children in kindergarten through eighth grade.
 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
 

• Some college coursework
   
• Clear and concise oral and written communication skills
   
• Ability to assist students with homework and computer skills
   
• Ability to relate to the public in a tactful and effective manner

 

IDEAL CANDIDATE

* This is a part-time/temporary/seasonal position with the City of San Bruno.  As such, employees agree to serve in an at-will capacity and understand that service with the City may be terminated at any time.  This position works a maximum of 17 hours per week and does not provide any benefits, except for paid sick leave. In accordance with the Healthy Workplaces, Healthy Families Act of 2014, all temporary, part-time, and seasonal employees, who on or after July 1, 2015, work in California for 30 or more days within a year from the commencement of employment are entitled to paid sick leave for prescribed purposes.  Employees will accrue one hour of paid sick leave for every 30 hours worked and are entitled to use accrued sick days beginning on the 90th day of employment.  Employees may use up to 40 hours (or 5 days) of accrued sick leave in each year of employment.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

A typical way of gaining the knowledge, skills, and abilities for this position is:
Education
Equivalent to graduation from a four-year college with major course work in business or public administration, industrial relations, or a closely related field.

Experience
Four years of progressively responsible experience in public personnel administration and management and labor relations, including one year in a lead, supervising, or management capacity. Experience in a municipal public agency setting is desirable. Additional professional-level experience as outlined above may be substituted for the college education on a year-for-year basis.

Licenses, Certifications, and Other Requirements
Must be willing to work such hours as are necessary to accomplish the job requirements. Must be able to travel to various locations within and outside the City of Berkeley to meet the program needs and to fulfill the job responsibilities. The Departmental Systems Analyst (DSA) will provide complex analytical support for the adaptation of and enhancement to Workday, the County’s incorporated human resources information system.  There is currently one vacancy in the HRIM division of the Human Resources Department.

 

In general, the DSA will provide analytical and technical expertise to support the configuration, maintenance, and continuous improvement of Workday Human Capital Management (HCM), Compensation, and Talent modules. The DSA will also:

The DSA must have knowledge of departmental operations and Workday system functionality, enabling effective communication between technical and non-technical staff. This includes the ability to translate business needs into system configurations to ensure that HR processes are accurately and efficiently supported.

• Strong analytical and technical skills with the ability to research, test, and configure system changes within Workday HCM, Compensation, and Talent.

Qualifications

Any combination of education and experience that would likely provide the required knowledge, skills, and abilities is qualifying. A typical way to qualify is:

• Three years of responsible experience in a position that would provide knowledge of department-specific programs, processes, and/or operations, including at least one year of experience in planning, implementation, oversight, and/or utilization of automated information systems and applications used to support departmental activities.

 

Knowledge of: 

• Principles, practices, policies, procedures, regulations, and applicable state and federal laws pertinent to assigned operational and/or program area.
• Principles and practices used in the analysis and development of procedures and information systems associated with assigned operational and/or program area.
• HRIS concepts, data processing, and workflow design.
• Methods for planning, organization, and prioritizing multiple duties to ensure the ability to meet deadlines.

THE POSITION

Under general supervision within the Police Department, responds to active crisis calls in collaboration with law enforcement and provides field and office based crisis intervention, behavioral health assessments and counseling, psychoeducation, outreach and engagement, transitional case management, consultation, and quality assurance review of assigned cases; works collaboratively with community service providers, behavioral health agencies, and law enforcement to connect individuals to appropriate resources; and performs related work as required or assigned.

This classification is uniquely distinguished by its principal responsibility to co-respond with law enforcement to emergency calls within the City that involve suspected mental health or behavioral health concerns. This integrated response model ensures a coordinated approach to crisis situations designed to improve outcomes for individuals experiencing psychological distress.

Employees in this position operate with a high degree of independence, judgment and initiative within established departmental policies and procedures. While this position does not include direct supervisory responsibilities, the clinician may provide guidance and training to other personnel, community partners or service providers. The Position

Reporting directly to the City Manager, the Administrative Services Director provides strategic leadership and operational oversight of the City’s Human Resources and Information Technology Divisions.

The Director plays a critical role in shaping Belmont’s organizational future—championing initiatives that build workforce capability, strengthen digital infrastructure, and advance a culture of collaboration, learning, and innovation.

To ensure continued excellence, the City is implementing a strategic, holistic approach to organizational development grounded in four key pillars:

The Team

The Administrative Services Department has 8 FTE's - (1) Administrative Services Director, (2) IT Business System Analysts, (1) GIS Coordinator, (1) IT Manager, (1) Principal Management Analyst (HR Manager), (1) HR Management Analyst II and (1) Administrative Assistant.
