The Big Lift, a collective impact initiative that seeks to increase kindergarten readiness and improve third grade reading proficiency in San Mateo County, is recruiting to fill one Intern Fellow II vacancy.

The Community  Action Program Specialist determines client’s needs for program services and provides case management and/or crisis intervention in one or more various program areas. The City of Berkeley invites you to apply for the position of Assistant to the City Attorney! In this role, you will provide highly responsible and specialized administrative and analytical and support within the City Attorney’s Office. Refuse Truck Driver II

Receives general supervision from a Public Works Supervisor. May receive technical and functional supervision from a Senior Refuse Truck Driver.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Include but are not limited to the following:

• Drives and operates a variety of collection vehicles and equipment including one or two-person-staffed refuse collection truck, front, rear and side loaders in the collection and transportation of residential and commercial refuse; responds to afterhours call-outs if assigned.
• Maintains assigned truck by regular cleaning and washing, including inspecting for mechanical or other operating problems; reports mechanical or related problems for maintenance; may perform minor maintenance as appropriate.
• Operates hydraulic/mechanical controls to load, compress, and dump refuse; collects and disposes of debris on assigned route; transports refuse to/unload at appropriate landfill sites and/or sewage treatment plant.
• Assists with battery sorting, electronic waste collection, bin repair or delivery, cardboard removal, illegal dumping cleanup, and any other related solid waste program or assignment.
• Completes and posts notification tags on containers, bins and dumpsters for unacceptable contents for refuse collection.
• Prepares, maintains and submits records, reports and forms including time records, equipment and maintenance records, and route maps and logs.
• Responds to questions and concerns from the general public; provides information as is appropriate and resolves public service complaints.
• Establishes positive working relationships with representatives of community organizations, state/local agencies, City management and staff and the public.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.

PHYSICAL, MENTAL AND ENVIRONMENTAL WORKING CONDITIONS

Position requires sitting, standing, walking on level and slippery surfaces, reaching, twisting, turning, kneeling, bending, stooping, squatting, crouching, grasping and making repetitive hand movement in the performance of daily duties. The position also requires both near and far vision when inspecting work and operating assigned equipment. The need to lift, carry and push tools, equipment and supplies weighing 25 pounds or more is also required. Additionally, the incumbent in this outdoor position works in all weather conditions including wet, hot and cold. The incumbent may use cleaning and lubricating chemicals, pesticides or herbicides which may expose the employee to fumes, dust and air contaminants. The nature of the work also requires the incumbent to climb ladders, use power and noise producing tools and equipment, operate hydraulic aerial devices, drive motorized vehicles and heavy equipment, work in heavy vehicle traffic conditions and often work with constant interruptions.

Under general direction, the Deputy District Attorney I/II/III performs legal work in the enforcement of laws; prosecutes criminal cases as assigned by the District Attorney; advises the general public and law enforcement officers on criminal matters; and does related work as required. • Prepare legal briefs for motions and appeals; prepares affidavits for search and arrest warrants; prepares trial briefs, checks questions of law.

Under general supervision, provides a variety of office support activities including customer service, telephone and counter reception, document processing, record keeping, data entry and organization, cashiering, and filing; provides information and assistance to staff and the general public; and performs related work as assigned.

Receives general supervision from assigned supervisory or management staff. Exercises no direct supervision over staff.

CLASS CHARACTERISTICS

Initially, under close supervision, incumbents learn and perform general office support work such as customer service at the front counter and over the phone, file and records maintenance, data entry, and screening phone calls, visitors, and mail, and directing questions to the appropriate staff. THE POSITION:

The City of San Rafael is recruiting for a Program Coordinator in the Recreation Division of our Library and Recreation Department.  This position is responsible for overseeing operations of the Terra Linda Community Pool, including hiring, training, scheduling of temp/seasonal lifeguards, swim instructors, cashiers for approximately 100 employees, for a 9-month pool season.  The Program Coordinator will develop, implement, and oversee programing for the pool and be responsible for developing the pool schedule.  An understanding of safety, customer service, managing relationships with user groups, problem solving, and leadership skills are important for this program area.  Although an aquatics background is preferred, it is not required at time of hire.  The Program Coordinator will also support the Terra Linda Community Center with program development, special events, rentals, customer service, marketing and other tasks as assigned. 

This position performs the following essential job duties (including but not limited to and may vary with assignment):

• Provides direction to and supervises regular, temporary and volunteer staff, including selecting, monitoring, training, scheduling and determining workloads; assists with hiring, disciplinary and evaluation processes.
• Assists in the development, recommendation and implementation of goals, objectives, policies, procedures and work standards for the assigned department division(s).
• Participates in the preparation and administration of an assigned recreation center or specialized recreation program budget.

In this entry-level role, you will gain experience in all areas of civil law covered by the City Attorney's Office, including environmental, labor and employment, land use, public safety, and contracts among others. The City Attorney's Office is routinely involved in exciting litigation over issues of national interest, such as climate change, surveillance technology, and homelessness.

As a Deputy City Attorney I, your duties will include performing routine civil legal work, providing advice and counsel to City staff and Boards/Commissions, and representing the City in litigation.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

A typical way of gaining the knowledge, skills, and abilities for this position is:
Equivalent to graduation from a college or university with an appropriate law degree.

Must be a current member of the California State Bar Association. Must be willing and able to attend evening meetings. Specified positions may require possession of a valid California driver's license and a satisfactory driving record.
