THE POSITION:

The City of San Rafael is recruiting for a Program Coordinator in the Recreation Division of our Library and Recreation Department.  This position is responsible for overseeing operations of the Terra Linda Community Pool, including hiring, training, scheduling of temp/seasonal lifeguards, swim instructors, cashiers for approximately 100 employees, for a 9-month pool season.  The Program Coordinator will develop, implement, and oversee programing for the pool and be responsible for developing the pool schedule.  An understanding of safety, customer service, managing relationships with user groups, problem solving, and leadership skills are important for this program area.  Although an aquatics background is preferred, it is not required at time of hire.  The Program Coordinator will also support the Terra Linda Community Center with program development, special events, rentals, customer service, marketing and other tasks as assigned. 

This position performs the following essential job duties (including but not limited to and may vary with assignment):

• Provides direction to and supervises regular, temporary and volunteer staff, including selecting, monitoring, training, scheduling and determining workloads; assists with hiring, disciplinary and evaluation processes.
• Assists in the development, recommendation and implementation of goals, objectives, policies, procedures and work standards for the assigned department division(s).
• Participates in the preparation and administration of an assigned recreation center or specialized recreation program budget.
• Plans, evaluates and coordinates programs, classes, athletic activities and special events, including scheduling facilities, ensuring facilities are set up, scheduling trips and hiring coaches.
• Monitors the day-to-day operations of programs and events, including making site visits, handling and resolving complaints not requiring the attention of a supervisor and ensuring that programs and events have required materials and supplies.
• Formulates and organizes program plans and schedules for seasonal and year-round activities and special events. 
• Acts as liaison and representative with a variety of advisory boards, commissions, community groups, law enforcement agencies, schools and councils.
• Creates program flyers, brochures, catalogs and newsletters, including determining content, layout, materials and distribution methods; prepares activity and operating reports.
• Enforces safety and operating procedures and provides for maintenance needs including compliance with health and safety codes and building codes.
• Books facility rentals for customers; attends to facility users needs, including permits and equipment; prints weekly event schedule and ensures that all setups are done, manages facility budget, including maintenance and supplies.
• Performs other duties of a similar nature or level.

OTHER REQUIREMENTS:

• Must possess and maintain a valid California Class C driver’s license with a satisfactory driving record.
• Must have American Red Cross Lifeguard Training (or obtain within 4 months of hire).
• Must have American Red Cross Lifeguard Instructor (or obtain within 1 year from time of hire).
• Must have American Red Cross Water Safety Instructor (or obtain within 1 year from time of hire).

• Equivalent to graduation from a four-year college or university with major coursework in recreation administration, physical education, leisure services or a related field AND
• Two (2) years of full-time or its equivalent of recreation experience, OR
• An equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job as listed above.

This position performs various tasks in the office and field, both technical and administrative, supporting the Public Works Department and the City Engineer. Sausalito Parks and Recreation is Seeking Vibrant Skilled Recreation Leaders

The City of Sausalito is recruiting for part-time temporary help for the summer and fall seasonal recreation activities and City-wide events.  The first of these is the Bocce League referee.

Bocce Referee
As a Sausalito Parks and Recreation Bocce Referee, you are responsible for set-up, management, and cleanup of scheduled Bocce matches. You are the enforcer of rules, an impartial judge, and an advocate for fun and fair play. The ideal candidate will maintain a positive attitude and provide a friendly environment when communicating with teams and keeping score. This position reports directly to the Recreation Supervisor.   The ideal candidate must meet all minimum requirements as listed below and be confident and capable of dealing with conflict and intense games.  

Event Staff

As a Sausalito Parks and Recreation Event Staff member, you are responsible for actively participating in set-up, cleanup, and management of your assigned event.  You must arrive on time and remain until the event leader release you after the event.   Event staff may set up chairs, tables, stages, corridors, and barriers.  You may be asked to perform traffic control or direct drivers to parking.   The ideal candidate will have a can-do attitude, smile often, meet all of the minimum requirements below, remain calm under pressure and in the face of adversity, be cheerful, and love the diversity of people. 

The minimum requirements for the position are:

Under direction of the Director of Public Works, or designee, the Associate Engineer or Project Manager performs engineering and project management services in the public setting, collaborating with multiple stakeholders. The City of San Rafael is recruiting for a Code Enforcement Officer in our Community Development Department.  Under immediate supervision, this position assists with the enforcement of all provisions of the San Rafael Municipal Code, performs code inspections, and enforces the zoning code.

This position is a flexibly staffed position and may be filled at any level in the series, dependent upon the candidate’s experience and qualifications.  The distinguishing characteristics between each level is as follows:

Code Enforcement Official I:  This class is distinguished from the Code Enforcement Officer II by the performance of the more routine tasks and duties assigned to positions within the series including field investigations and field inspections.  Since this class is typically used as a training class, employees may have only limited or no directly related work experience.

Code Enforcement Official II:  This is the full journey level class.  Employees at this level are distinguished from the Code Enforcement Officer I by the performance of the full range of duties as assigned.  Employees at this level receive only occasional instruction or assistance as new or unusual situations arise and are fully aware of the operating procedures and policies of the work unit.  Positions in this class shift away from office and group fieldwork to more defined, independent work. 

This position performs the following essential job duties (including but not limited to):

• Exercises enforcement and abatement responsibilities under the land use regulations of the City’s Municipal Codes.
• Conducts field investigations of reported complaints of municipal code, ordinance and resolution violations.
• Advises individuals of violations and methods of abatement.
• Seeks abatement (remedies) through voluntary compliance or informal administrative process or administrative hearings or judicial action.
• Conducts field inspections to uncover violations, gathers supporting evidence, inform individuals of code provisions and encourage compliance.
• Issue warnings and violation notices and see remedies through voluntary compliance or informal administrative process or administrative hearings or judicial action.
• Explains and interprets municipal codes, ordinances, and resolutions at the counter and in the field to City staff, to property owners and the generic public.
• Confers with other agencies and City departments, verbally and in writing, on the investigation and disposition of related violations.
• Prepares written staff reports and presents evidence at hearings before the Planning Commission, City Council, Hearing Officer, and/or Courts of law related to current code enforcement administrative and judicial proceedings.
• Complete forms, prepare reports, investigation narratives and related correspondence.
• Maintains case records, program statistics, and related materials.
• At the Level III, function as a lead work supervisor over other Code Enforcement Official (I/II) employees.
• Performs related duties as required.

Code Enforcement Official II:

• Graduation from an accredited high school or equivalent.
• Three (3) years of full-time experience involving the enforcement and interpretation of administrative rules and regulations, two (2) years of which must be in a code inspection capacity.
• Valid driver’s license.

DUTIES:

• Receives, classifies, and prioritizes incoming calls to the dispatch center including 911 calls and business line calls received from citizens requesting service or information; operates a variety of public safety communications equipment including 911 emergency telephone equipment, computer aided dispatch systems, and multi-channel radio systems; dispatches police and fire units and personnel.

• Evaluates response necessary as dictated by a given request for service; determines nature, location, and priority of calls; operates computer aided dispatch system to create calls for service within response criteria guidelines; assigns and dispatches appropriate police, fire, or other emergency vehicles, equipment, and personnel in accordance with policies and procedures; transfers calls to other appropriate agency in accordance with established procedures; obtains and dispatches other support services as necessary.

THE POSITION:

The City of San Rafael, Child Care Division is accepting applications for Child Care Aide to work in our School-Age Program.  We are looking for people who are available Monday thru Friday from 2:00 – 6:00 pm.  This is a great part-time position for someone who attends school in the morning.  No weekend work required!

This position performs the following essential job duties (including but not limited to):

• Assist Director and Instructors in planning and implementing activities.
• Assist in the supervision of children at the child care center or on outings/trips.
• Assist in the cleaning and maintenance of equipment and materials.
• Assist in the preparation and cleanup of snacks.
• Other related duties as assigned.

• Child guidance methods.
• Developmentally-appropriate practices and curriculum.

• Accept direction from supervisor.
• Establish and maintain effective relationships.
• Work as scheduled.

• Some experience with school age children, preferably 6 months.
   

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:

Facility and Sports Field Attendants work in the formal Suisun City classification of Recreation Specialist I. Starting hourly rate will depend on qualifications. This position works on average 19 hours per week.

The Department: The Recreation, Parks and Marina Department is responsible for the operations and programs of the Suisun City Marina, the Senior Center and the Joseph A. Nelson Center, including preschool, after-school programs at various sites, recreation classes and sports leagues, community events and special event rentals.

The Position: Facility and Sports Field Attendants work behind the scenes making all Recreation and Community Services excel! This job entails performing participant or event rental check-in and reception duties, opening and closing facilities, general janitorial services including but not limited to sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, bathrooms, room set-up and break-down, field preparation by dragging, chalking, placing bases, hole filling, safety checks, restroom opening/closing as well as restocking and general cleaning, working in concessions, stocking, preparing, and selling food during tournaments and league play. We’re looking for highly motivated people with a customer service orientation who genuinely enjoy helping others and who are flexible problem-solvers.

This recruitment is for an hourly/temporary (at-will), non-benefited position limited to 999 hours of employment in a fiscal year (July 1 through June 30) with an approximately 16 hours per work week. Days and hours worked may be flexible, depending on the department's operational needs.

The Town of Los Gatos is recruiting for a temporary/hourly Code Compliance Officer as part of the Town's Code Compliance team in the Community Development Department. Under direction, the Code Compliance Officer performs a variety of duties and assignments including patrol, which is principally the performance of a variety of routine, nonhazardous municipal law enforcement duties for which sworn personnel are not required.

This position reports to and is supervised by the Town's Building Official. The successful candidate will receive appropriate training in the collection of information, the use of noise meters and other equipment, compliance tactics and strategies, and other matters consistent with the Town's high degree of respect and courtesy to all parties.
 
THE IDEAL CANDIDATE
The Code Compliance Officer must be able to communicate clearly and effectively with the public and exercise sound judgment, tact, and integrity. The Code Compliance Officer must possess a calm demeanor and remain alert and coherent while under routine or stressful situations. The successful candidate must understand how to respond appropriately to changing field situations and work well with staff from Police, Community Development, and other Departments.

EXAMPLE OF DUTIES

• Patrols the Town on assigned shifts for the purpose of enforcing and preventing violations of applicable codes and ordinances and reporting unsafe conditions and other related conditions.
• Focuses on public disturbance, or other nuisance behaviors.  Documents field observations and actions accurately.
• Implements Town procedures in collecting information, responding to the public's inquiries or complaints, and reporting of fieldwork.
•  Meets with businesses to understand late night offerings and to assess compliance with Town permits.  Prepares necessary reports using computer databases, word processing, or other tools.
•  Appears in court to present evidence and testimony as required.

REQUIRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING 
Any combination of experience and training that would likely provide the required knowledge, skills and abilities is qualifying. 

• Bachelors Degree in planning or a related field. 
• One year experience in investigation, zoning administration, law enforcement or related field. 
• Additional related experience may be substituted year for year for the education requirement provided the minimum attainment is high school graduation.
• Possession of a valid California Class C driver’s license.
• Desirable experience interpreting policies and ordinances and demonstrated work experience in code compliance and preferably with a municipality.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

• Current principles and trends in urban planning and zoning. 
• Drafting and mapping techniques.
