The City of Sunnyvale is searching for a Budget Manager in the Department of Finance. The Budget Manager is a division-level manager responsible for developing, administering, and overseeing the City's sophisticated Operating and Capital Budgets and Twenty-Year Financial Plans. This position participates in the development of the City's financial systems, conducts and presents complex financial information and analysis to executive management and others to assist in policy decision making. This classification receives administrative direction from the Director of Finance or Assistant Director of Finance and exercises direct supervision over management, professional, technical and clerical staff in the Budget Division.

Minimum Qualifications

A Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in economics, accounting, finance, business or public administration or a closely related field, AND

Five years of increasingly responsible management and/or administrative analytical work experience which includes a minimum of three years of budget experience.

Working under close supervision, Employment & Training Worker I is the entry/trainee level in the Employment & Training Worker series. As requisite skills and knowledge are developed, greater independence and the full scope of responsibility are exercised. Employees are expected to promote to Employment & Training Worker II after one year of satisfactory performance at the trainee level.

The Community  Action Program Specialist determines client’s needs for program services and provides case management and/or crisis intervention in one or more various program areas. The Community Action Program Specialist II is the full journey level class within the series and is   distinguished from the entry level class by the performance of the full range of duties, including the more complex cases. This position is full-time and is scheduled for forty (40) hours per week.

WHAT YOU’LL DO

• Analyzes clients’ financial and eligibility information to determine initial or continuing eligibility for programs.

The mission of the Controller's Office is to promote the County's operational effectiveness and ensure its financial transparency and integrity by providing quality accounting, audit, and financial reporting services.

The Controller's Office maintains the County’s financial systems and records, and prepares independently audited, award-winning annual financial reports that disclose the financial condition of the County to the public. We are staffed with 51 full-time accounting, audit, and information systems professionals. The office also calculates annual property tax bill amounts, distribute taxes collected to local government agencies, performs internal audits of County’s operations, and provides payroll services for the County's workforce.

Distinguishing Characteristics

Payroll/Personnel Coordinator IV is the lead or specialist level class in the Payroll/Personnel Coordinator series. This level is distinguished from the Payroll/Personnel Coordinator III in that the former is assigned to larger County departments with 24/7 operations, various locations, programs, and shifts or in central Human Resources or Controller's Office. At this level, work requires the analysis of unusual circumstances, understanding and proper application of complex and multiple labor contract provisions and assessing a variety of approaches to finding solutions. Actions to be taken or responses to be made differ in such things as the source of information, the kind of transaction or scenario, the type of employee and his/her eligibility for labor contract provisions. Positions at central HR and Controller's Office provide lead, guidance, and instructions to other departmental Coordinators.

In addition, the ideal candidate will have experience in Human Recourses and the Payroll System (Workday) and timekeeping system (Infor Workforce Management aka ATKS).

THE POSITION

The City of Pacifica is a General Law City incorporated in 1957 and operates under the Council/Manager form of government. THE DEPARTMENT

ESSENTIAL AND IMPORTANT DUTIES

The Organization: 

The Town is a general law city operating with a Council-Manager form of government. Policy-making and legislative authority are vested in the governing City Council which consists of a Mayor, a Vice Mayor, and three Councilmembers. Council members are elected to overlapping four-year terms in even-numbered years and the members select the Mayor and Vice Mayor annually. The Finance Department is responsible for the overall financial management of the Town. THE POSITION

The Human Services Specialist (Family Partner) will work as part of a team with counselors and case managers to provide services to parents and their children in Fremont, Newark and Union City. The incumbent will provide peer support and assist families in navigating systems and accessing needed services while promoting independence and advocacy skills through a respectful and non-judgmental manner. The Family Partner uses their own personal lived experience and ensures that the family’s perspective is represented in the provision of all services which will be conducted in the child’s home or school, at Youth and Family Services’ clinic located at the Fremont Family Resource Center or in other community settings.

Examples of Job Duties

• Assists family with identifying need, existing strengths, and accessing services.
• Provides families with information and referrals to needed supportive services and resources.
• Serves as a peer role model and supports families as they navigate the systems.
• Educates and mentors parents/caregivers, helping them to understand and advocate for their rights.
• Increases families’ awareness about the benefits of parent/professional provider partnerships.
• Participates in clinical team meetings while representing the parent’s perspective.
