About the Roles

The duties of the Maintenance Workers include, but are not limited to,

• Inspects and/or repairs equipment at frequent intervals to ensure that all aspects of the equipment are safe and functioning safely.

• Maintains a variety of records relating to inspections, maintenance activity, materials supply, consumption, etc.
• Determines and marks the locations of system wirings and stormwater and water lines from the appropriate sources prior to excavation.
• Responds to complaints regarding functional areas; evaluates situation; explains findings to supervisor. Functional areas for Public Works include street conditions, street signs, storm water system problems, traffic signals and street lighting.  Functional areas for Community Services include tree conditions, ball field conditions, irrigation system problems, park, building and ball field lighting.
• Ensures the proper maintenance of equipment and tools by cleaning and checking equipment and tools after use.
• Safely operates vehicles of various sizes and weights in the loading, hauling and unloading of various equipment, and other job functions. For Public Works, this includes gravel, sand, concrete, asphalt and base rock.  For Community Services, this includes soil and sand and performing tree work.
• Performs routine inspection and preventive maintenance on assigned equipment and refers defects or needed repairs to supervisor; cleans equipment.
• Performs all duties in conformance to appropriate safety and security standards.
• Performs required labor involved in construction and maintenance projects as part of a crew.  For Public Works, this includes pavement cutting, ditch digging, manhole and line cleaning, main and pipe repair, laying pipe, trenching and backfilling.  For Community Services, this includes laying pipe, trenching and backfilling, maintaining ball fields including original layouts such as installation and leveling of surfaces; base positioning and installation; and layout of all field markings.

• Performs other duties as assigned.  

Minimum Qualifications

Maintenance Worker I:
Graduation from high school education or GED equivalent.

Maintenance Worker II:
Graduation from high school education or GED equivalent, and a minimum of two (2) years street, stormwater or parks maintenance work experience.

Valid California driver’s license. Possession of or ability to obtain and maintain a valid Class "B" Commercial Drivers license by completion of probationary period.

Compensation

The annual salary range for this position is currently $67,660 to $95,526. These are represented positions.

THE POSITION

This position receives general supervision from the assigned Director and will be considered a position that carries dual responsibilities. The selected candidate will exercise direct supervision over park maintenance workers, janitorial staff, and support service personnel.  He/she will be a working supervisor who provides leadership and direction to assigned staff while also functioning as a skilled tradesperson who is able to take the lead and fill in as needed, in any section of Parks and Facilities.

As Parks Supervisor, the incumbent directs and coordinates park maintenance employees and supports service crews.  

• He/she will oversee, coordinate and/or lead park and facilities personnel, support service crews, and park maintenance crews.
• Schedules and directs the work of assigned parks maintenance personnel, including ensuring parks and facilities are properly prepared for rentals and reservations.
• Works with crews to assure accuracy and compliance with City standards.
• Submits weekly logs of work in progress and jobs completed by crews.
• Responds to public complaints regarding parks projects through proper channels and informs appropriate staff of City standards and policies.
• Coordinates with the Recreation Division on all events to ensure parks and facilities are properly prepared; assigns staff to assist with events as needed.
• Performs employee evaluations for assigned staff.

As Facility Supervisor, the incumbent directs and coordinates maintenance, repair, and upkeep of City buildings and facilities, and supervises janitorial staff responsible for the cleaning and sanitizing of City buildings and facilities.

• Performs a variety of work in the maintenance, construction, alteration, and repair of City buildings and facilities; identifies and corrects building and equipment problems to maintain facilities in a safe condition, prevent degradation of City property, and prevent failures that would cause reduction in service.
• Performs skilled work across multiple building trades including carpentry, plumbing, painting, electrical, HVAC, welding, and related crafts to maintain and repair City buildings, structures, and equipment.
• Inspects City buildings and structures to identify repair needs; evaluates conditions and recommends appropriate corrective action or modifications to meet City standards and building codes.
• Obtains estimates and quotes for materials and equipment needed for repairs and completion of job tasks; prepares reports of inspections and labor and material estimates for the Director.
• Supervises janitorial staff responsible for cleaning and sanitizing City buildings, facilities, and park restrooms; ensures facilities are properly prepared for rentals and reservations; monitors service standards and schedules.
• Performs general maintenance and janitorial duties as needed.
• Installs, programs, and maintains security camera systems at City buildings, parks, and facilities to ensure proper coverage and functionality.
• Performs and schedules preventative maintenance on City buildings, facilities, and equipment to minimize deterioration and reduce the need for costly repairs.
• Remains current on job-specific expertise through trade publications, vendor communication, and other sources to keep abreast of the latest technological developments and products.
• Performs related work as required.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

May include, but are not limited to, the following:

Knowledge of the methods, procedures, equipment, tools, practices, and techniques used in facilities building maintenance and parks, including carpentry, plumbing, woodworking, painting, electrical, heating, welding, and/or ventilation work; methods, materials, practices, and tools of the building and construction trades; principles and practices of effective supervision, training, and performance evaluation; cost estimating and design; basic principles of mathematics; occupational hazards and standard safety procedures; pest control; and irrigation systems. Ability to oversee, coordinate, and direct the work of others in a supervisor capacity; plan, organize, and implement a comprehensive maintenance program for the City's parks and facilities; inspect buildings and equipment to locate conditions needing repair; estimate time and materials needed to complete work projects; program computerized energy control systems; interpret and work from blueprints, diagrams, and sketches; safely operate necessary equipment efficiently and skillfully; maintain records and logs; observe safety principles; follow written and oral directions; prepare accurate written reports; establish and maintain effective working relationships; and communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing. Skill to safely and effectively operate a variety of power and hand tools used in the construction, maintenance, and repair of facilities.

Resources:  Including Equipment, Materials and Records; various hand and power tools, digging and cutting tools, portable generator, telephone, reports, forms, pencils, and pens, calculators, automobile, maps, plans, and blueprints, key to City locks.
 

Solving Problems and Performance of Others: Troubleshoots and resolves non-routine maintenance and repair issues across parks and building systems and independently determines appropriate corrective action. Supervises parks maintenance workers, janitorial staff, and support service personnel and performs building and facilities repair and maintenance work independently.
 

Relations: Internally works with supervisors, other construction and maintenance personnel, and all City departments. Externally represents the city and communicates with various outside agencies.
 

Communications: Communicates effectively in oral and written form; prepares accurate written reports; recognizes unusual, inefficient, or dangerous operating conditions and takes appropriate action.

Safety: Daily exposure to hazardous conditions associated with tool and equipment usage and exposure to the elements while performing duties. Consequences range from minor injury such as scrapes, contusions, burns, and abrasions up to and including permanent disability or death.

FLSA STATUS: Exempt

The City of Stockton Human Resources Department is seeking a Program Manager III who will be responsible for managing the department’s budget, contracts, compiling and analyzing data, as well as preparing reports in support of division operations, departmental initiatives, and labor negotiations. These core areas represent key responsibilities of the role; however, the position may also be assigned to oversee projects and additional duties as needed to support broader organizational goals.

The incumbent will work a City of Stockton 9/80 schedule: 7:30am - 5:30pm Monday through Thursday; 8:00am - 5:00pm Fridays, with every other Friday off.

Work is done under the direct authority of the City Manager or departmental senior management due to the critical nature of the policies and programs. Assignments allow for a high degree of autonomy and administrative decision making in their execution. This class is distinguished from the general administrative support classes in that the duties relate specifically to administration of specialized programs.

The San Mateo Medical Center operates five dental clinics located in San Mateo, Redwood City, Daly City, and Half Moon Bay, along with a Mobile Dental Clinic. These clinics provide dental care for children and adults, including homeless and transitional populations. Pregnant women on Medi-Cal and patients with an HIV diagnosis also receive dental services at these clinics, with coverage available through the Ryan White grant. 

All Clinics are open Monday through Friday, 8 AM to 5 PM and some Saturdays and evenings. The Fair Oaks Health Center hosts UCSF dental students, while both the Fair Oaks Health Center and the Mobile Dental Clinic host UOP dental students to aid in patient care.

The Dental Assistant Series levels include:

Dental Assistant ($29.55 - $36.92 hourly) is the experienced level class in the Dental Assistant series, competent to independently perform the full range of journey-level dental assisting work under the supervision of a dentist. This class is flexibly staffed with the Registered Dental Assistant and incumbents may advance to the higher level after obtaining required certification and demonstrating the required proficiency for the higher level.

Registered Dental Assistant ($34.92 - $43.66 Hourly) is the advanced journey-level classification in the series.  Under the supervision of a dentist, incumbents at this level perform dental assisting duties which are limited to a person certified as a Registered Dental Assistant in addition to performing Dental Assistant duties of the lower level.

We are seeking Dental Assistants and Registered Dental Assistants who are motivated and demonstrate the willingness to learn and adapt to new situations. All Dental Assistants and Registered Dental Assistants rotate and should be available to work at any of our dental clinics. Transportation to each work site is the employee's responsibility. The current vacancy is a Part-Time, Extra-Help positions. Spanish speaking is preferred, but not required. 

The ideal candidate will be a skilled and compassionate professional with a strong commitment to providing high-quality dental care to underserved communities. This includes children, adults, individuals experiencing homelessness, and patients with complex medical needs. Ideal candidates will also have:

• Proficiency in chairside assisting, digital X-rays, mixing dental materials, and maintaining a sterile environment. Registered Dental Assistants should also have additional skills such as coronal polishing and sealant application.
• Experience using Electronic Medical Records (EMR) systems, with a strong preference for EPIC.
• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment while remaining composed when handling patient emergencies or high patient volumes.
• A valid California Registered Dental Assistant (RDA) license.
• Capability to conduct oral inspections and provide preventive services, including coronal polishing and topical fluoride application.
• Ability to provide chairside assistance in all phases of clinical dentistry, including oral surgery, pediatric dentistry, and other specialized procedures.
• Experience in testing pulp health, fabricating temporary fillings and crowns, and re-cementing dislodged temporary restorations.
• Competency in assisting with the administration of Nitrous sedation.
• Fluency in Spanish (reading, writing, and speaking) is highly desirable.

NOTE: This is an extra-help, at-will assignment, paid on an hourly basis. Extra-help hours are dependent on the business needs of the department and therefore work hours may vary from week to week. Extra help employees are not guaranteed permanent status at the end of the assignment.

 

 

Examples Of Duties

Duties may include, but are not limited to, the following:

• Prepare patients for examination, treatment or surgery; arrange dental instruments, equipment and accessories on trays; set up medical and dental charts and X-rays.
• Take, develop and mount dental X-rays; maintain cleanliness of the X-ray room.
• Maintain dental/medical records of patient examinations and treatments, dental charts and medical histories; complete insurance forms; schedule return appointments for patients; schedule patients per provider request.
• Maintain office, operatories and equipment in sanitary and orderly condition; clean, oil, and prepare dental equipment for sterilization.
• Mix dental medicaments.
• Follow prescribed procedures in response to patient emergencies during treatment such as gagging, vomiting, convulsions, etc.; clean patients' air passages, remove obstacles from mouth and support head.
• Perform related duties as assigned.

Additional duties for Registered Dental Assistant, include, but not limited to:

• Conduct mouth inspections and provide preventative services, including, pit and fissure sealant application, coronal polishing, and topical fluoride application.
• Provide chairside assistance to dental providers in all procedures of clinical dentistry, including. oral surgery, pediatrics, and other procedures as permitted by the California Dental Board for Registered Dental Assistant.
• Under direct supervision, perform pulp vitality testing, and record findings. - Fabricate and cement temporary crowns and place temporary fillings-Under direct supervision, assist in the administration of nitrous oxide sedation (i.e. adjust the flow of gas as directed).

Qualifications

Knowledge of:

• Preparation of patients for examination.
• Methods of use, care and sterilization of instruments and equipment.
• Dental hygiene instruction, prophylaxis or coronal polish (for RDA level), and sealants (for RDA level)
• Dental X-ray techniques and safety procedures.
• Dental terminology.
• Office procedures and record keeping.

Skill/Ability to:

• Take, develop and evaluate dental X-rays.
• Work tactfully with patients and other personnel under stressful conditions.
• Respond appropriately to patient emergencies during treatment or surgery.

Education and Experience:

• Any combination of education and experience that would likely provide the required knowledge, skills and abilities is qualifying.  A typical way to qualify is completion of a course of instruction for dental assistants.

Licensure/Certification:

• Possession of a Certificate of examination for radiation safety from the California Board of Dental Examiners.
• Possession of a Certificate of completion for a course in Basic Life Support as approved by the American Red Cross or American Heart Association.

Additional licensure/certification for Registered Dental Assistant:

• Possession of a valid California License as Registered Dental Assistant issued by the California Board of Dental Examiners.

The City of Berkeley invites you to apply for the position of Forestry Climber in the Parks, Recreation and Waterfront Department! In this role, you will have the opportunity care for and maintain trees throughout the City. You'll climb trees of various heights using belts, lines, and similar equipment, and you will use a variety of hand and power tools to prune, trim, and shape street and park trees.

You'll also help keep our parks and streets safe by removing dead or broken branches, clearing street lights and overhead wires, and removing stumps and roots. 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
A typical way of gaining the knowledge, skills, and abilities for this position is:

Equivalent to graduation from a high school and one (1) year of skilled experience in tree climbing, topping, trimming and maintenance of a wide variety of very tall shade and park trees.

Other requirements: Must possess and maintain a valid California non-commercial (Class C) driver's license and have a satisfactory driving record. Must obtain and maintain a valid California Commercial (Class B) driver's license by the end of the probationary period and maintain a satisfactory driving record. Must be willing to work in tall trees and out of doors in all weather conditions. Must possess sufficient strength and stamina to lift and carry objects weighing up to 75 pounds and sufficient agility to perform job duties while working in tree tops or from ladders or hydraulic buckets.

JOB ANNOUNCEMENT SECTION:

The Department

The Parks and Recreation Department is the third largest department in the City and is organized by program area, with each program administered by a supervisor, coordinator, or specialist. The department is comprised of the Recreation, Community Services, Parks, Facilities and Common Greens divisions.

The Parks Division is in charge of planning and maintaining the city’s parks, playgrounds, sports fields, and other landscaping. There are approximately 25 parks and play lots, including Sign Hill Park, which has 60 acres of open space, and Centennial Way Linear Park, a 3-mile pedestrian and bicycle trail. Amenities include Centennial Dog Park, bocce ball courts, an above-ground skate park, a variety of ball fields, tennis and basketball courts, picnic shelters and group picnic areas.

IDEAL CANDIDATE SECTION:

The ideal Park Maintenance Worker will be able to prioritize work and coordinate multiple tasks while working cooperatively with a variety of people, consistently ensuring excellent customer service. Capable of organizing duties, meeting critical deadlines, and following up on assignments with minimal supervision to maintain parks and public facilities according to established standards. Additionally, the ideal candidate will have knowledge of basic techniques, tools, equipment, and materials used in park and landscape maintenance, as well as an understanding of occupational hazards and related safety practices.

Typical Duties and Responsibilities:

• Maintains all types of landscaped areas through mowing, watering, planting, trimming, weeding, and fertilizing.
• Applies insecticides, herbicides, and fertilizers.
• Operates trucks, tractors, mowers, chippers, and related grounds and tree maintenance equipment.
• Cleans and perform minor repairs to park and recreation equipment, buildings, and related facilities; maintains and prepares athletic fields.
• Assists in the maintenance of sprinkler systems; assists in the maintenance and minor repair of power-driven equipment.
• As assigned, works extended or irregular hours.
• Assists in the general cleaning and maintenance of the Corporation Yard.
• Performs other related duties as required.

QUALIFICATIONS: Any combination of experience and training that would provide the required knowledge, skills, and abilities would be qualifying. A typical way to obtain the knowledge, skills, and abilities would be:

Experience: One year of experience in parks and landscape maintenance work is preferred. 

Training: Equivalent to graduation from high school.

Licenses/Certificates: All licenses and certificates must be maintained as a condition of employment.

• Possession of an appropriate valid California driver’s license and a satisfactory driving record.

The Town of Colma Recreation Services Department is currently accepting applications for Recreation Leaders for Summer 2026.  The Recreation Department provides programs and activities for Colma residents of all ages ranging from infants to seniors. Program elements include fitness, enrichment, cultural events, special events, sporting events, trips, and community events. It is the goal of the Recreation Department to offer a balanced program ensuring all elements are offered to all age groups throughout the year. This is a part-time position. Hours will range from 20-37 hours per week.

This position is under direct supervision of the Recreation Coordinator. Leaders will be responsible for planning, coordinating, and implementing the Summer Day Camp at Sterling Park.

As our Alert & Warning Coordinator, you will own this mission. You'll architect the systems, craft the protocols, and build the partnerships that ensure every resident – from Half Moon Bay to Redwood City, from tech executives to farmworkers – gets the information they need to prepare, survive, and recover.

WHAT YOU WILL ACTUALLY DO

Build & Innovate:

• Lead the implementation of the Five Elements Framework—an evidence-based framework developed with leading researchers – in all our alerts and warning initiatives.
• Design multilingual alert systems that reach every community, including those often left behind.
• Integrate cutting-edge technologies: IPAWS, Genasys Protect, AI-powered monitoring, and tools that don't exist yet.
• Develop dashboards and systems that give our partners real-time situational awareness.

Coordinate & Connect:

• Serve as the nexus point between local, state, and federal emergency communication systems.
• Coordinate with 20 cities, 18 unincorporated areas, fire districts, law enforcement, healthcare systems, and community organizations.
• Build relationships with trusted community messengers who can amplify our reach.
• Manage vendor relationships and contracts for emergency notification platforms.

Respond & Adapt:

• Maintain 24-hour readiness and participate in on-call rotation.
• Staff the Emergency Operations Center during activations—from Blue Sky preparedness to Dark Sky crisis.
• Lead after-action reviews that turn every incident into institutional learning.
• Troubleshoot systems under pressure when everything depends on them working.

WHO YOU ARE

The Foundation:

• Bachelor's degree in emergency management, public administration, communications, or related field (Master's preferred but not required).
• 5+ years in program planning, emergency management, or crisis communications.
• FEMA ICS courses (100, 200, 700, 800) and IPAWS certification (IS-247, IS-251)—or willingness to complete.

The Technical Credentials:

• Deep knowledge of IPAWS protocols and alert & warning best practices.
• Fluency with emergency notification platforms, GIS, and communication technologies.
• Coding ability (Python, Java, or C++) to build tools, automate workflows, and solve problems.
• Understanding of radio communications systems and redundant infrastructure.

Under the general direction of the Deputy Executive Director of Projects, the Director of Programming and Project Controls will plan, organize, manage, and provide administrative direction and oversight for all activities of the Programming and Project Controls Department; coordinate assigned projects, programs, and activities with other Alameda CTC staff, local agencies, regional transportation agencies, and state, and federal agencies; provides complex staff assistance to the Deputy Executive Director of Projects in areas of expertise; and perform related work as required.
