Working under close supervision, Employment & Training Worker I is the entry/trainee level in the Employment & Training Worker series. Employees in this class receive in-service training in the performance of routine duties related to the provision of employment services. As requisite skills and knowledge are developed, greater independence and the full scope of responsibility are exercised. Employees are expected to promote to Employment & Training Worker II after one year of satisfactory performance at the trainee level.

• Utilizing Motivational Interviewing techniques, interviews and evaluates eligible program participants' employability to assist participants in achieving self-sufficient employment.Administers and interprets vocational measurement tests.
• Assesses clients' employment and education history; identifies employment related skills, abilities and barriers; develops goals and plans to improve skills and abilities and overcome barriers; provides career guidance and employment and training counseling; provides labor market information related to local employment possibilities; and as appropriate, refers clients to employment related educational and training opportunities.
• Refers clients to other staff members or to community resources for direct and intensive services and specialized counseling as necessary; advocates on clients behalf for most appropriate services including enabling services.
• Assists applicants and recipients in utilizing available resources.
• Makes home visits in connection with casework assignments.
• Provides community outreach for various agency programs.
• Conducts orientation workshops and one-on-one training for new and returning program participants.
• Reads, comprehends and applies complex regulations, rules, policies and procedures including the federal Work Participation Rate.

• Completes and processes disbursement of funds, documents for clients' authorized supportive services, i.e., childcare and transportation.
• Places clients into appropriate paid and/or non-paid work training assignments and monitors performance and progress.
• Completes and processes documents, correspondence, and reports for authorized supportive services, manually or using an automated system.
• Operates a personal computer, including software programs and an automated system, to enter and retrieve data, manage individual client cases and overall caseload, compile statistical reports, and perform other assigned duties.
• Maintains regular contact with clients to monitor each client's completion of tasks and progress toward attaining goals that will lead to securing employment, and compliance with program requirements.
• Documents evidence of individual clients' compliance or non-compliance with program rules and regulations, and follows procedures related to the imposition of sanctions.
• Performs a variety of clerical duties related to organizing, prioritizing and scheduling assignments; meeting deadlines; completing forms, reports and other documents; maintaining automated and manual files and logs; managing client cases; and fulfilling other responsibilities as required.
• Establishes and maintains cooperative, effective working relationships with program participants; department employees; regional employers, educational facilities, trainers and all others who are program stakeholders and supporters.
• May assess family situation to determine if Family Stabilization services are appropriate.
• May develop Family Stabilization service plan with family and service providers.
• Performs related duties as assigned.

Positions also responsible for determining the eligibility for public assistance programs perform the following additional duties:

• Analyzes financial information and eligibility information to determine initial or continuing eligibility for multiple aid programs.
• Enters and retrieves numerical and narrative data and issues benefits from an automated computer system.
• Assists clients in accessing community services.
• Organizes caseload so that necessary case records and documents are processed and updated within specific time limits established by regulation and local policy.

THE POSITION

To perform a variety of skilled and semiskilled horticulture tasks in the construction, maintenance and repair of parks, pools, recreation, and cemetery facilities and buildings.  The purpose of this recruitment is to hire multiple temporary/part-time positions.  Candidates who do not currently meet the minimum qualifications for the Park Maintenance Worker I position may be considered for an Intern position instead.

Temporary/part-time employees work no more than 130 hours per month and 960 hours per fiscal year.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

Performing general grounds cleaning, including emptying trash receptacles, mopping, sweeping, and raking City park and recreation sites as needed. Water, mow, cultivate, prune, weed, renovate, and fertilize grass, plants, trees, flowers, and shrubs. Operate power mowers, chain saws, rototillers, aerators, hedgers, spreaders, front-end loader, edgers, air compressors, and other equipment. Utilize proper safety precautions related to all performed work. Drive vehicles and equipment as required. Prepare and maintain athletic fields and related facilities, swimming pools, and cemetery/interment operations.  Regular and consistent attendance.

OTHER JOB FUNCTIONS

Install, maintain and replace playground equipment and fences; assemble tables, benches and bleachers. Works as a member of the City pest control crew spraying various fertilizers, herbicides, pesticides, and other related chemicals in City park and recreation areas. Respond to inquiries from the general public. Install, maintain and repair irrigation systems. Assist in setting up community services and special events. Maintain, repair and replace plumbing systems and fixtures such as light switches, motors, wall receptacles, conduits, faucets, drinking fountains, water heaters, water closet, urinals, water regulators and pressure valves.  Work cooperatively with others. Work any shift including weekends and holidays. Perform related duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

Park Maintenance Worker I

Education:  High School Diploma or equivalent.

Experience:  Six (6) months of experience in the care and maintenance of landscapes or facilities.

License and Certificate:  Required upon hire, possession of a valid California Driver’s License

The Department

The Parks and Recreation Department is the third largest department in the City and is organized by program area, with each program administered by a supervisor, coordinator, or specialist. The department is comprised of the Recreation, Parks, and Facilities divisions. The Position 

Under direct supervision of the Natural Resources Specialist and general supervision of the Parks Supervisor and/or Parks Program Manager, the Natural Resources Aide performs a variety of tasks and maintenance activities, including the removal of invasive plants, installation of native plants, trail repair, erosion control, and other related duties as assigned.

This entry-level classification will perform maintenance and labor tasks in support of habitat management and restoration activities under the Sign Hill Habitat Restoration Project. Work may be performed independently or as a member of a crew. Depending upon assignment, work is performed under close to general supervision. Work is reviewed while in progress and by the results achieved. Incumbents may provide limited work direction to temporary or volunteer workers.

The Position

The City of South San Francisco seeks customer service-oriented individuals to join the Community Resource Team at the new Library | Parks and Recreation Center. This position is shared between the Library Department and Parks and Recreation Department and works under the direction of the Community Resource Analyst. The Community Resource Clerk will typically be stationed at the lobby desks on the first and second floors of the new Library | Parks and Recreation Center at 901 Civic Campus Way in South San Francisco, however, may temporarily be assigned to other sites, or to represent the departments at special events. The Department

The South San Francisco Public Library is a full-service library committed to delivering quality services to a diverse community.  Library services are available at three sites, including the Main Library (901 Civic Campus Way), the Grand Avenue Library (306 Walnut Avenue) and the Gene Mullin Community Learning Center (520 Tamarack Lane).  Lifelong literacy services are provided by Project Read at the Main Library and the Gene Mullin Community Learning Center (GMCLC).  The City currently has one opening in this classification, for a position providing programs and services at the GMCLC.

THE POSITION

Tri-City is currently hiring to fill one full time vacancy for a bilingual Office Specialist. The Office Specialist provides difficult, complex, and specialized administrative support to assigned departmental projects and programs; develops, summarizes, and maintains administrative and financial records; types, edits, processes, distributes, and files a variety of documents; enters data and information into various databases and computer systems; and performs related duties as assigned.

• Inputs, updates, tracks, and extracts information into appropriate databases and billing systems; searches records and files for data.

• Under the supervision of Medication Support Team manager or assigned designee, candidate will be responsible for scheduling all Initial Medication Evaluations, as well as keeping count of number of IME’s scheduled, attempts made, rescheduling, removal of candidates and all necessary functions related to the scheduling of IME, including documentation of action taken per Electronic Health Record.

• Completion of all Pharmacy requisitions and flex funds as indicated on a monthly basis.

• Under the Supervision of Medical Director-Compile Weekly Initial Medical Eval Reports, Monthly IME reports, blocking of all MD schedules including for vacations, trainings and meetings.

Midpeninsula Regional Open Space District (Midpen) has an excellent career opportunity for an experienced and motivated Field Resource Specialist who will plan, organize, manage, oversee, and participate in the implementation of vegetation management, fuel reduction, and natural resource protection and restoration projects on Midpen lands. The Field Resource Specialist participates in long-term and short-term project planning, grant application and administration, coordinates assigned activities with other Midpen departments and outside agencies. This position will supervise staff and will direct consultants, contractors, and volunteers to assist in completing this work. Supervisory and administrative tasks will include budgeting, project management, setting priorities, and providing guidance to multi-disciplinary teams. • Field Resource Specialist will report to the Foothills Field Office (FFO) in the Rancho San Antonio Open Space Preserve in Cupertino, CA, to the Foothills Area Manager.

About the Position:   The Field Resource Specialist is an exempt/salaried position, which is responsible for administering the principles and practices of public land management including: open space or undeveloped park maintenance, resource management including resource protection, managing budgets, prioritizing work tasks, and responding to public; stakeholder agencies; and other department inquiries. The Field Resource Specialist directs the day-to-day implementation of fuel reduction and vegetation management goals of Midpen’s Wildland Fire Resiliency Program. The Field Resource Specialist will support Midpen’s utilization of contractors and act as a point of contact for a wide variety of vegetation maintenance and management tasks. The successful performance of this work will require a working knowledge of a broad range of resource management trades and technical principles, as well as a professional background and the ability to coordinate work with other Midpen departments.  Candidates with background in fire risk prevention activities and vegetation management trades are desirable. Licenses & Certifications Required:    

• Possession of a valid California Class C Driver License
• Possession of, or ability to obtain, a valid Professional Rescuer Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certification within six (6) months of employment.

• Possession of, or ability to obtain, a valid First Responder or equivalent certification within six (6) months of employment.
• Possession of, or ability to obtain, the level of certification in the Incident Command System courses as specified under the National Incident Management System (NIMS) within 12 months of employment.

The Department

The Human Services Department (HSD) delivers and supports services by forging long-term community partnerships; engaging with and building the capacity of the community to do its own problem-solving; and leveraging financial and volunteer resources.

The Position

The Human Services Specialist (Family Partner) will work as part of a team with counselors and case managers to provide services to parents and their children in Fremont, Newark and Union City. The incumbent will provide peer support and assist families in navigating systems and accessing needed services while promoting independence and advocacy skills through a respectful and non-judgmental manner. The Family Partner uses their own personal lived experience and ensures that the family’s perspective is represented in the provision of all services which will be conducted in the child’s home or school, at Youth and Family Services’ clinic located at the Fremont Family Resource Center or in other community settings.

The City of Menlo Park seeks per diem librarians to contribute to operations activities, projects and programs in the Library and Community Services Department. Per diem librarians may support a combination of the activities below depending on the needs--location of service may vary. Schedules vary based on the needs of the library system. Both Menlo Park Library locations are open on Saturdays and Sundays, and until 8pm three nights per week.
