The City of Thousand Oaks has an exciting opportunity! We are seeking a knowledgeable and results oriented Plan Check Supervisor who will be responsible for staff oversight, assigning, reviewing, organizing, and participating in the work of the Plan Check Section staff in the Building Division of the Community Development Department.

Plan check functions include ensuring permits are issued only for those plans that meet all state and local codes regulating life-safety, quality of life, energy conservation, and structural safety standards. This position is responsible for the more technical and complex plan check tasks and serves as a technical resource to staff.

The Engineering Group Manager – Facilities will oversee a diverse and talented team responsible for managing the planning, design, and construction of capital projects at the Santa Clara Valley Transportation Authority (VTA). This individual will lead the delivery of high-impact projects ranging from transit infrastructure upgrades to the improvement and rehabilitation of maintenance yards and other critical facilities. The role includes overseeing staff, consultants, and stakeholders in the successful execution of these projects, while also ensuring compliance with VTA’s overall objectives and community needs.

The Aging and Adult Services Division of San Mateo County Health is seeking a Deputy Public Guardian Conservatorship Investigator III (DPG). The position is on the Probate Conservatorship Investigation team and is the intake section of the San Mateo County Public Guardian program.

The team receives referrals from all sources, for individuals who are no longer able to make decisions for themselves due to a disabling condition other than mental health. The probate conservatorship investigators conduct a very involved inquiry into the individual's past and present life to prove to the court that there are no other alternatives to conservatorship that will allow the individual to continue to live independently in the community. Conservatorship is a very invasive process as it removes most of an individual's rights. Therefore, it is as a last resort that a petition for conservatorship is filed with the Superior Court.

The current vacancy is in the Aging and Adult Services Division located in San Mateo, but will drive to visit clients at various locations, attend meetings, and perform various duties of the position. This person will report to the Supervising Deputy Public Guardian of Aging and Adult Services.

DPG's have responsibility for managing estates and providing casework services. They administer complex property and litigation cases, prepare complex court reports and testify in Court as needed and may develop comprehensive care plans. DPG III's also provide lead direction and training to other deputies, serve as liaisons with specific County and State department and community agencies, handle those cases that present the greatest liability to the client and/or the County, and may provide 24-hour emergency response services.

Ross Valley Sanitary District is seeking an Inspector excited to join our high performing team. Inspectors work with contractors, homeowners and real estate agents to ensure construction projects meet District standards while educating and providing excellent customer service to the public.

Under general supervision of the Senior Engineer, the Inspector performs advanced, complex, and critical inspections of District infrastructure. Working independently, the Inspector is responsible for ensuring compliance with District regulations and codes related to the repair of District infrastructure, construction of private sewers, and collection system pump stations. Inspectors are also responsible for ensuring safety measures are applied at job sites.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:

• Check and review construction plans for construction and repair on public and private sewers.
• Perform civil, structural, mechanical, and basic electrical inspections on construction and repair on District sewer mains, and private sewer laterals performed by contractors or other agencies.
• Communicate status of work to Engineer and co-workers as appropriate.
• Check surveys and plans for accuracy and document site conditions prior to start of construction.
• Inspect construction and backfill materials in all stages of progress to ensure compliance with District specifications, standards, ordinances, and for approval of authorized construction.
• Read and interpret construction plans, documents, and specifications.
• Ensure compliance with District and regulatory standards, plans, ordinances, and specifications regarding construction methods, equipment, workmanship, and quantity and quality of materials used in the project.

• Confer with contractors’ field representatives regarding either work or materials that deviate from plans and specifications; ensure approved corrective measures are applied.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education, Training, and Experience

PHYSICAL, MENTAL AND ENVIRONMENTAL WORKING CONDITIONS

Position requires sitting, standing, walking on level and slippery surfaces, reaching, twisting, turning, kneeling, bending, stooping, squatting, crouching, grasping and making repetitive hand movement in the performance of daily duties. The position requires acute hearing and both near and far vision while performing work including customer interactions, reading and inspecting plans, electronic or physical documents, field work and operating assigned equipment. The need to lift, drag, carry and push documents, equipment and supplies weighing 50 pounds or more is required. Additionally, the incumbent in this position periodically works in all weather conditions, including wet, hot and cold. The position entails working in situations that may expose the employee to fumes or airborne particles, electrical shock or mechanical hazards. This is an entry-level position that can serve as the first step in establishing a career in Planning or Building services. Licenses and Certifications

• ICBO Permit Technician Certification is required within the first full year of employment with the City in this position

Selection Process
Applications will be reviewed for relevant education, experience, training and other job related qualifications. Based upon a review of employment applications received, a limited number of the qualified applicants will be invited to participate in the examination process. 

The process will consist of an Oral Panel Interview. An eligibility list will be established from those who pass the examination process with a score of 70% or higher. Current and future vacancies may be filled from this list. The list will remain in effect for at least one year unless exhausted sooner. 

The department will invite the most qualified candidates from the eligibility list to a final department interview. The Community Development Department will make the hiring decision.
