JOB SUMMARY

Under general supervision this position teaches swimming lessons and/or specialized aquatic classes to the public. This position also monitors the use of the swimming pool and enforces safety rules. The Swim Instructor is a part-time hourly position. This class receives assignments from and reports to the Supervisory Team. Must be available to work evenings, weekends and holidays. Staff meetings are mandatory and held on Fridays at 10am.

REPRESENTATIVE DUTIES

• Conducts swim instruction classes.
• Administers first aid.
• Enforces pool regulations and policies.
• Assists in the maintenance of operational equipment.
• Maintains the pool area, deck and locker room for cleanliness and safety.
• Performs rescues.
• Evaluates student performance.

THE POSITION

To service and perform minor repairs and a variety of semi-skilled preventative maintenance duties on a variety of automotive and other power-driven and mechanical equipment. 

The purpose of this recruitment is to hire a temporary/part-time position.  Applicants who do not meet the minimum qualifications for the Equipment Service Worker position may be considered for employment as an Intern.  Typical work hours are Monday through Friday, 6:30 AM to 2:30 PM. 

Temporary/Part-Time employees work no more than 130 hours per month and 960 hours per Fiscal Year. 

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

Follow a preventative maintenance schedule to assure vehicles are in good repair. Perform minor tune-ups, exhaust system repairs, brake replacements and repairs, and U-joint replacements.  Check and replace tires.  Wash and steam clean vehicles and parts.  Inspect vehicles and equipment for loose or work parts and hydraulic and exhaust leaks.  Bring all needed repairs to the attention of Supervisor.  Keep routine records on maintenance services provided, parts used, and labor performed.  Pick up and deliver vehicles and parts.  Maintain maintenance shop and shop equipment in a safe, clean and orderly condition.  Regular and consistent attendance.

OTHER JOB FUNCTIONS

Perform a wide variety of routine preventative maintenance duties on all automotive vehicles.  Performs related duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

Education: High School diploma or equivalent.

Experience:  One (1) year of basic vehicle maintenance experience.

Licenses:  Required upon hire and maintained during employment, possession of a valid Class C California Driver’s License.

Lifeguard - $11.55 - $14.05/HR

Lifeguard/WSI - $11.84 - $14.39/HR

The City of American Canyon is seeking individuals who will serve as Lifeguards or Lifeguard/WSI.  Lifeguard/Lifeguard/WSI observe the activity of swimmers in and around the American Canyon Aquatics Pool and provide lifesaving services as needed. Lifeguards also assist and teach with swim lessons and other pool-related activities.  The position may be scheduled during hours that may include early mornings, nights, weekends and holidays and are considered temporary/part-time and are limited to no more than 1,000 hours per fiscal year.

QUALIFICATIONS:

The Public Works department is seeking a skilled mechanic with a proven track record to join the Vehicle & Equipment Maintenance division. Under the general supervision of the Fleet Manager, the Auto Mechanic is responsible for making minor and major mechanical repairs to automotive and other power-driven equipment; and to do related work as required.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES
Inspect, diagnose, locate mechanical difficulties on City automobiles and trucks, and on public works department construction equipment, such as tractors, rollers, backhoes, loaders and other automotive equipment used in street, sewer and water utility maintenance and construction; determine extent of necessary repairs; overhaul, repair, and adjust engines, transmissions, differentials and clutches; tune engines, replace ignition parts and clean and adjust carburetors; replace or repair faulty parts including wheel bearings, clutches, oil seals, shock absorbers, exhaust systems, steering mechanisms, and related parts and equipment; replace such components as generators, distributors, relays, lights and switches; perform welding in the repair of equipment; maintain work, time, and material records.

• Conduct proper opening and closing procedures of the aquatic facilities;
• Assist in staff trainings and meetings;
• Analyze program needs and recommend new and innovative program ideas;
• Set up proper furniture arrangements, equipment, and facility maintenance;
• Work as a Lead with Lifeguards and Swim Instructors and offering assistance in maintaining the proper execution of all aspects of facility rentals and programs;
• Ensure all policies of the City of San Ramon are followed during all programs, special events and facility use;

Pool Manager   (salary range:  $16.95 - $20.34 per hour)

• Schedule staff for facility rentals and City of San Ramon programming
• Create, modify, and implement age-appropriate program curriculums
• Create and distribute marketing materials
• Assist in the implementation and scheduling of staff, programs, and services
