SCCHA’s Real Estate Development Division is a mission oriented, dynamic, and collaborative team, working closely together to creatively develop new affordable housing as well as preserve existing assets in service of the tenants and communities we serve.  By embedding the innovative spirit of the Silicon Valley into our agency’s culture, we are elevating our efforts to address the affordable housing shortage in Santa Clara County.  To ensure equity and justice, we prioritize housing developments for extremely low-income individuals and families that embrace residents’ lived experiences.  Our resident-centered approach leverages our real estate capacity, talented staff, and community partnerships. 

We are looking for a dynamic individual who will be a part of the real estate department and help us to develop a pipeline of over 20 projects and over 1200 units of affordable housing.  We are looking for an individual that will oversee and manage a team of project managers with projects ranging from new construction multi-family housing, renovation and rehabilitation of existing structures, repurposing of commercial properties for affordable housing, and master planning of large transit-oriented sites.

What Our Team Is Looking For:

Any equivalent combination of education and/or experience likely to provide the required core competencies may be considered. A typical combination that is qualifying may include: 

• A bachelor’s degree from an accredited four-year college or university with major coursework in community development, business, economics, urban planning, or a related field; and
• Five (5) years of progressively responsible experience in residential property development, acquisition, and/or rehabilitation, Low-Income Housing Tax Credit (LIHTC) from applications and financing through conversion, to permanent financing, including two (2) years of experience supervising and managing affordable housing and development programs, budgets, activities and staff.

The City of Sunnyvale is seeking a Housing Specialist I to join the Housing Division in the Community Development Department. Under direction of the Housing Officer, the Housing Specialist I will play a key role in the planning and development of new affordable housing, creating new housing programs, implementing the Housing Element, applying for grants/funding to support affordable housing, and monitoring housing legislation. The Housing Specialist I will perform technical and professional level planning and community development work, with an emphasis on creation and implementation of affordable housing programs. This position will closely collaborate with affordable housing developers, various housing advocacy groups, local non-profits, and the community. The ideal candidate will be a passionate affordable housing professional who is a motivated self-starter able to work independently, while also being a team player who can communicate effectively with supervisors, colleagues, consultants, and decision-makers. The Novato Sanitary District is seeking a highly motivated, innovative, and goal-driven individual to join our Collection System team as a Collection System Worker (CSW). The District will hire at the level of CSW I or CSW II depending on skills, certifications and licenses held by candidates in the pool of qualified applicants. 

The CSW performs a wide variety of tasks associated with the maintenance of wastewater collection and reclamation systems, including inspection, cleaning, maintenance, and repairs on lines, pump stations, and treatment facilities. The successful candidate will possess experience in general maintenance tasks, including the safe and effective operation of a variety of hand and power tools and equipment. Possession of a commercial driver's license is highly desirable. Experience working with sewer cleaning trucks and equipment is also a plus.

• Assist Swim Instructor to provide all levels of swimming to all age groups.

Read Santa Clara’s adult literacy program serves adults who seek to strengthen their basic literacy skills to achieve their goals as family members, workers, community members and lifelong learners.

The Position:

The Literacy Technology Assistant helps Read Santa Clara's adult learners gain basic digital literacy skills. The person helps adult learners 1:1 or in small groups learn how to use the literacy program's laptops and iPads as well as how to use literacy software on their own devices. The Literacy Technology Assistant may also be called on to support volunteer tutors or Read Santa Clara staff, as the need arises. The Literacy Technology Assistant is a patient, empathetic individual, who can teach basic technology skills to adults who have little or no digital literacy skills.

As an as-needed employee, this is an "at-will" position and there is no guarantee of hours. Hours are limited to 999 in a fiscal year or 960 hours in a fiscal year for retired CalPERS annuitants.

Typical Duties:

• Configure and operate Read Santa Clara's devices.
• Maintain the technology inventory, including keeping track of software subscriptions and licenses.
• Meet one-on-one with adult learners who need help with technology.
• Plan and conduct small group classes for learners on basic technology skills and literacy software.
• Check in and check out RSC devices to adult learners.
• Advise volunteers on how to effectively incorporate technology in literacy instruction and assist them as-needed with the online platform used to turn in monthly tutoring reports
• Write user-friendly instructions/create tutorial videos to help adult learners/tutors use literacy software.
• Record data and provide reports of sessions held with learners and tutors.
• Support Read Santa Clara staff, as needed, on specific literacy projects.

Housing Programs Specialist II

• An associate degree with coursework in liberal arts, humanities, social work, business, public administration, or a related field.

How You Will Make an Impact:

The Santa Clara County Housing Authority (SCCHA) is seeking an Asset Manager to provide professional, technical and administrative asset management duties in support of a portfolio of Agency owned assets. The Asset Manager ensures compliance with programmatic and financial regulations, oversees property operations, and works with property management to ensure the physical, financial and social well-being of affordable housing assets.  The Asset Management Division, along with the Real Estate Development Division, are part of SCCHA’s Real Estate Department.  The team working in Real Estate is mission oriented, dynamic and collaborative. The team works closely together to creatively develop new affordable housing as well as preserve existing assets.

This position requires extensive knowledge of property maintenance, construction project management, capital planning and systems management, budget preparation and financial modeling to analyze portfolio performance. 

What Our Team Is Looking For: 

Any equivalent combination of education and/or experience likely to provide the required core competencies may be considered. A typical combination that is qualifying may include: 

• A bachelor’s degree from an accredited four-year college or university with major coursework in community development, business, economics, urban planning, civil engineering, architecture, or a related field; and
• A minimum of four (4) years of progressively responsible experience performing asset management, real estate development, property management, and/or construction management functions.
• Low Income Housing Tax Credit (LIHTC) experience is desirable.
• Possession of a valid California Driver's License and satisfactory driving record at the time of appointment is required as a condition of initial and continued employment only if the operation of a vehicle, rather than the employee's ability to get to/from various work locations in a timely manner, is necessary to perform the essential functions of the position.
