Under general supervision, a Police Officer is responsible for the performance of law enforcement duties to protect life and property in accordance with applicable laws, to carry out special assignments as necessary, and other related duties as assigned. A wide variety of assignments are available which include Patrol, Traffic, Narcotics, Detectives, Off-Road and Surface Street Motorcycle Patrol, Bike Patrol, Special Weapons Team, Crisis Negotiation Team, Canine, Background Investigations, School Liaison, Gang Suppression, Special Enforcement Section and Intelligence.

This position participates in a 4/10 work schedule. Must be available to work nights, weekends, and holidays.

Requirements:

Candidates must have completed a California P.O.S.T. Certified Police Academy. Must be 21 years of age as of the appointment date, high school graduate or G.E.D., (as recognized by the U.S. Department of Education), and U.S. citizen or a permanent resident alien who is eligible and has applied for citizenship.

Out-of-State Candidates:

The California Commission on Peace Officers Standards and Training (POST) will conduct an evaluation of all out-of-state training. POST is the sole authority on applicable training and determines whether the candidate must attend an abbreviated academy, or a regular police academy. If an academy is required, the candidate will be hired as a Police Officer Trainee. Upon completion of the academy, promotion will be made to Police Officer.

Selection Process:

Applicants passing the Oral Board examination will be placed on the eligibility list based on their Oral Appraisal Board rankings. Summary:
Under supervision, performs routine semi-skilled to skilled grounds landscaping and maintenance work; performs preventive maintenance of District properties; and performs other related duties as assigned.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
The duties listed below are intended only as illustrations of the various types of work that may be performed. • Performs a variety of routine landscape and ground maintenance tasks, including maintaining areas around District facilities, hardscapes and playgrounds, and removing debris and graffiti; maintains assigned areas in a clean, safe and orderly condition.
• Maintains turf and landscaped areas by mowing, edging and weeding; learns and assists with fertilizing, spraying with insecticides and herbicides, aerating and watering.
• Blows, sweeps and washes sidewalks, roadways, parking lots, tennis courts, and other hard­scapes to maintain a clean, safe and orderly condition.
• Assists with planting and removing trees, shrubs and plants; prunes shrubs and trees to shape and encourage growth, using hand and power saws as assigned.
• Assists with the installation, repair and maintenance of irrigation systems.
• Assists with athletic field preparation and the maintenance of play areas and related facilities.
• Operates a variety of power tools, hand tools and motor-driven equipment such as trucks and tractors.

Qualifications:

Education/Experience:

About The Position:

The County of Yuba is actively recruiting to fill current vacancies and establish an employment list for the position of Public Safety Dispatcher within the Sheriff’s Department.  The incumbent receives 9-1-1 system sheriff, fire, medical emergency and rescue calls; dispatches sheriff, fire and medical personnel following established procedures; maintains communication with officers in the field to ensure safety and provide back-up and information; provides relief coverage for the records unit; and performs related work as assigned. Parks Planning and Design Manager Class Specification

Definition
Under administrative direction, plans, organizes, manages, and directs the activities of the Landscape Architecture Division; serves as a key staff member in the administration, development, and implementation of policies, systems, and procedures to facilitate the implementation of the City’s Park Master Plan; oversees and directs the supervision and activities of citywide tree preservation and landscape development policies; and gives professional advice on landscape matters.

Class Characteristics 
This is a single position management classification reporting to the Community Services Director.  The incumbent has considerable latitude in the application of department policy as it relates to division activities and follows general guidelines or professional and administrative standards in accomplishing assignments; the incumbent is expected to identify policy issues and work with other staff to develop options and recommend solutions.  This classification is distinguished from the Senior Landscape Architect by the latter’s responsibility to manage the staff and activities of one or more sections of the Landscape Architecture Division.

• Recommends design direction on high-profile urban design of public and private projects that impact landscape design and urban projects within the City.
• Manages the Park Planning and Development Plan for the City.
• Provides staff support and recommendation alternatives to the Recreation Commission and City Council in park planning policy and implementation of facility development.
• Recommends modifications to ordinances, policies and procedures and implements after approval.
• Performs professional landscape architectural work including preparing landscape plans, coordinating master plan development, and performing park planning and preparing related specifications, contracts, and cost estimates.
• Reviews and approves landscape proposals for private development, ensuring compliance with codes, policies, regulations and procedures.
• Prepares reports.
• Recommends approval or denial of various projects for submission to the Planning Commission and/or the City Council.
• Directs the inspection of and/or inspects public and private landscaping work for conformance with plans, specifications and ordinances.
• Administers and implements the Tree Preservation Ordinance, including recommending approval or denial of permits for tree removal.
• Administers the tree planting program, including maintenance of the street tree master plan, botanical designation, inspection of plantings, issuance of permits for planting, removal, and pruning.
• Serves as technical adviser to other City departments and officials on park, street tree and landscape matters.
• Reviews and analyzes federal, state and local landscape and water legislation and its implementation in the City of Fremont.
• Participates as a team member in the work of the department’s management team, understanding and then implementing assigned duties and responsibilities to support team goals and objectives.  
• Works cooperatively with other team members, receiving and sharing information, soliciting input, identifying operational and interpersonal issues, participating in the development of problem solving solutions.
• Acts as the City's representative in dealing with public and private agencies, groups and individuals concerned with parks and open space, trees, and landscape.
• Conducts park location studies to evaluate park site feasibility and proposed land acquisition and/or development.

JOB TYPE

Part-time, Temporary/Seasonal (no more than 18 hours per week)

THE POSITION

Under general supervision, lead and conduct activities in the delivery of recreation program areas for the preschool program.

The Recreation Leader classification is distinguished from the Recreation Aide level in the complexity of duties assigned, independence of action taken, the amount of time spent performing the duties, the nature of the public contact made, and its training responsibilities of new staff. Positions at this level are required to be fully trained in all procedures related to assigned area of responsibility.

Work Schedule:
A typical work schedule is Monday - Friday 11:30 am - 3:00 pm - school days only; summer and school holidays off.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

The following duties are normal for this classification. The omission of specific statements of duties does not exclude them from the position if the work is similar, related or a logical assignment to this class.

• Plan, oversee, and conduct recreational activities in program areas such as preschool, playground, parks, after school programming, teens, sports, museum, special events, and senior citizen activities.
• Conduct activities in areas such as arts and crafts, games, sports, music, drama, and nature study. Instruct participants in the rules and methods of playing indoor and outdoor games.
• Inspect activity areas and related equipment, make written reports of damage to equipment or facility and recommend maintenance and repair, as appropriate.
• Enforce safety rules and regulations; maintain orderly participant conduct.
• Provide minor first aid to recreation program participants/spectators and/or perform related first aid/emergency techniques.
• Exercise precautions necessary to ensure the safety of recreation program participants and spectators.
• Build and maintain positive working relationships with co-workers, other City employees and the public using principles of good customer service.
• Open and close facilities as scheduled for use; clean up after facility users and set up for subsequent activities; secure the facility upon leaving.
• Set up furniture or equipment for activities scheduled and see that it is in proper condition and is replaced after use.
• Sweep and mop floors as required; keep restrooms and kitchen clean and well stocked with paper towels, tissues, etc.; empty trash receptacles throughout the facility as necessary.
• Responsible for monitoring adherence to building rules and party limitations. Maintain records and complete written program plans and reports.
• When work assignments are in public area of assigned facility, greet visitors, collect fees, have visitors sign guest book.
• Provide facility and exhibit orientations and/or tours including appropriate tour materials.
• Develop weekly lesson plans; plan and direct lessons, games, crafts and songs for after school and pre-school programs.
• Post City information as required and remove outdated and or unauthorized notices. Confirm reservations for specific permitted areas; resolve conflicts when appropriate.
• Make determinations and interpretations regarding reservations for specific permitted areas.
• Provide advice and information on park and recreation regulations to the public when requested and/or as needed; prepare incident reports and related documentation as needed.
• Train and oversee activities of part-time staff, as assigned.
• Ensure that activities operate in accordance with general department philosophy, objectives and guidelines.
• Perform related duties as assigned.
