This position will lead our dedicated department and be instrumental in guiding our department through today’s and tomorrow’s challenges. The City has 85 full-time employees serving 14,000 residents. The APD is a team of 24 sworn officers and 11 professional staff providing patrol, investigations, 911 dispatch and other law enforcement services. The department has an annual operating budget of roughly $6 million.

What You Will Do

The Chief of Police is responsible for the planning, administration and operation of the APD under general administrative direction. Upon hire, the incumbent can expect to work closely with the City Manager, City Council, Placer County and community leaders to further learn, understand and address community public safety issues.

APD utilizes the Community-Oriented Policing philosophy and the Problem-Oriented Policing strategy to better serve the community. This includes serving with the Community Advisory Council and Community Action Team to connect with those who live, work and play in Auburn. The APD team works closely with the Placer County Probation and Health and Human Services departments, along with other groups within our community, to address those in the community experiencing homelessness.

Positions in the PC/LAN Technician II classification are flexibly staffed and normally filled from advancement from the PC/LAN Technician I class, or when filled from the outside, require specific technology experience. The Organization

The City of Pacifica is a General Law City incorporated in 1957 and operates under the Council/Manager form of government. Legislative authority is vested in a five-member City Council elected by district for four-year overlapping terms. The Mayor is selected each year by a majority vote of the other Council members. THE POSITION

To perform a variety of skilled and semiskilled horticulture tasks in the construction, maintenance and repair of parks, pools, recreation, and cemetery facilities and buildings.  The purpose of this recruitment is to hire multiple temporary/part-time positions.  Candidates who do not currently meet the minimum qualifications for the Park Maintenance Worker I position may be considered for an Intern position instead.

Temporary/part-time employees work no more than 130 hours per month and 960 hours per fiscal year.

The Community: 

The Town of Hillsborough (pop. 11,574) is a residential community located in San Mateo County, midway between San Francisco and San Jose.  

Incorporated in 1910, the Town provides a full range of essential municipal services including police and fire protection, land use planning, building permitting and inspection, maintenance of roads, and water, sewer, and storm drainage infrastructures. The Organization: 

The Town is a general law city operating with a Council-Manager form of government. Policy-making and legislative authority are vested in the governing City Council which consists of a Mayor, a Vice Mayor, and three Councilmembers. Council members are elected to overlapping four-year terms in even-numbered years and the members select the Mayor and Vice Mayor annually. Among other things, the City Council is responsible for passing ordinances, adopting the budget, appointing committee and board members, and hiring the City Manager and the City Attorney (on contract). The City Manager is responsible for carrying out the policies and ordinances of the City Council, overseeing the day-to-day operations, and appointing department heads. The Town’s Fiscal Year 2024-25 Adopted Budget is $75.9 million with a General Fund Reserve of $30.7 million. The Town’s staff of 99 FTEs support the residents through the five departments: City Manager’s Office, Finance, Police, Building & Planning, and Public Works. 

The Department: 

The Finance Department is responsible for the overall financial management of the Town. The Department’s core mission is to maintain a sound and secure financial position by providing administrative and technical support to the Town’s management, City Council, staff, and the public. The Finance Department provides support services to the Town departments and citizens.  Support services include budgeting, accounting and financial reporting, treasury, and revenue management, purchasing and accounts payable, payroll, debt management, financial analysis, and other administrative functions.  Services provided to customers include water, sewer and storm drain utility billing and customer support, alarm billing, business licensing, Town main phone line reception and other services.
