Salary range for this classification is: $144,274.00 - $176,586.02 annually

Planning, Building and Code Enforcement position:

The Public Information team works closely in support of each of the Department's divisions to provide information to the public and within the organization. ?The Department is currently seeking a highly qualified and experienced individual to fill the role of Public Information Manager. As the Public Information Manager, you will be responsible for developing and implementing public information strategies to effectively disseminate information to the public, media, and other stakeholders regarding the department's operations, policies, and initiatives.

Working under the direction of the Director, this includes additional aspects such as developing marketing and communication programs, developing and maintaining effective communication with media, community, and public relations sectors, developing and strengthening community partnerships and commitment to public education, as well as managing marketing and internal/external outreach strategies.

Parks, Recreation and Neighborhood Services position:

The PRNS Department is seeking an experienced senior communicator with a diverse skillset to establish and guide the strategy for all communications, website, public relations messages, and collateral to represent the PRNS Department to the public. The successful candidate will demonstrate excellent writing and presentation skills and have substantial experience with developing and executing effective communication plans using a wide range of appropriate tactics, including traditional and new media. Creativity, good judgment, initiative, and a collaborative attitude are essential, as well as the skills necessary in developing strategic partnerships, including with potential partners and donors, to ensure that equitable access to recreational opportunities are provided to all San José residents.

• Develop and execute internal and external communication plans, including implementing communication/media strategies, marketing efforts, development updates, and educational resources

As experience is gained, assignments become more varied and are performed with greater independence.

THE POSITION:

The City of San Rafael Library & Recreation Department, Child Care Division, is accepting applications for Child Care Instructor II to work in our School-Age Programs at Mary Silveira and Vallecito Children’s Centers.  Under the supervision of the Child Care Director, the Child Care Instructor II will provide developmental care and supervision to children enrolled in the childcare program; implement age-appropriate curriculum for children; establish and maintain supportive relationships with children and parents.  Incumbents in this position assume primary responsibility for planning, scheduling, and organizing curriculum and other activities for childcare participants.  In the absence of the Child Care Director, the Child Care Instructor II may assume those duties.

This position performs the following essential job duties (including but not limited to):      

• Plan, implement and supervise enrichment and recreation-based programs.
• Develop age-appropriate curriculum and activities to stimulate children’s cognitive skills, abilities, and development.
• Evaluate needs of children, staff, and site to maintain a safe and healthy environment for children and staff.

The total salary range for the Council Chief of Staff classification is $86,318.44 - $172,058.64. This amount includes an approximate five percent (5%) ongoing non-pensionable pay. The actual salary shall be determined by the final candidates’ qualifications and experience. 

The District 8 Council Office, supporting Councilmember Domingo Candelas, is recruiting for a Chief of Staff position. The position will work closely with the Councilmember and lead the staff support team for the Councilmember. The Chief of Staff is an integral link between the Councilmember and the Mayor and City Council colleagues, City administration, and the community. The Chief of Staff must have excellent oral and written communication skills, effective organizational, analytical, and management skills, and a dedication to public service. The position requires the ability to develop and maintain effective and collaborative working relationships with community members and neighborhood organizations, key stakeholders, and City staff. The Chief of Staff will serve as a liaison to the Councilmember and will regularly represent the Councilmember at City-related meetings and functions. • Advises the Councilmember on policy, budget, and community matters.

THE POSITION:

The City of San Rafael Library & Recreation Department, Child Care Division, is accepting applications for Child Care Instructor I to work in our School-Age Programs.  Under the supervision of the Child Care Director or Head Teacher, you will assist in the planning and implementation of daily activities for the school-age program. 

This position performs the following essential job duties:      

• Assist in planning and implementing age appropriate curriculum, activities, and events.
• Provide continuous supervision to children in day-to-day activities; ensures health and safety of children.
• Maintain childcare center, rooms and play areas in a clean, orderly and safe condition; sets up rooms and areas for various activities such as lunch, naps, games, etc.
• Monitor behavioral patterns and assists with assessment and child development profiles.
• Meet with parents as necessary or requested.
• Perform lead work responsibilities over Child Care Aides.

To be eligible for this position you must have knowledge of: 

• Stages and phases of Child Development.
• Appropriate disciplinary techniques.
