San Mateo Medical Center is seeking an experienced Surgery Scheduling Specialist for a Full-Time, Extra-help position for the Surgery Department. The Surgery Scheduling Specialist provides technical, complex and specialized administrative support to surgeons and patients scheduled for surgery, which includes interaction with operating room staff and patients; handles multiple competing priorities; interacts with diverse customer groups; handles multiple patient-related tasks such as tracking patient financials to ensure information is correctly entered; and moves patients from the clinic to the operating room, including all pre-operative processes necessary for the patients prior to surgery, pre-op process sheets and clinic schedules, data entry of items into the operative database, financial reconciliation, and post-op order sets, and may have some responsibilities for ordering supplies or equipment.
 
The ideal candidate for this position will possess excellent communications skills, including the ability to communicate complex medical terminology to a variety of people with varying levels of medical knowledge. In addition, they would possess skills in conflict resolution, and problem solving. The ideal candidate will have the ability to work with challenging patients, and patients who may have a language or communication barrier. This position will require attention to detail, and therefore the ideal candidate will possess strong organizational skills and the ability to multi-task.
 
NOTE: The ability to speak, read and write in fluent English and Spanish is preferred for this position.
 
 Duties for this position may include, but are not limited to, the following:

• Tracking patient financials to be sure they are correctly entered.
• Scheduling patients in the procedure clinic.  
• Updating the pre-op process sheet and clinic schedule in the computer.
• Entering data into the operative database.
• Interfacing between the Operating Room and Surgeon.
• Ability to schedule patients using the OR manager program.

Occupational Therapist II is the experienced journey level class in this series. Incumbents in this class perform the full range of general therapy treatments with a greater degree of independence and proficiency, additionally applying more specialized and advanced therapy treatments. The ideal candidate has graduated from an accredited occupational therapy curriculum and is licensed as an Occupational Therapist by the California Board of Occupational Therapy and registered with the National Board for Certification in Occupational Therapy. San Mateo Medical Center and its clinics are currently seeking well-qualified candidates for Physical Therapist II to provide outpatient and/or inpatient services at San Mateo Medical Center - Main Campus in San Mateo, CA. Physical Therapists manage patients with a wide range of diagnoses, chronic and acute, and are part of a dynamic treatment team. Daily opportunities are created in this assignment through the variety of illnesses/injuries seen in our patient population.

Physical Therapists work at SMMC as part of a County rehabilitation program, which provides evaluation, education and treatment. The therapeutic program at SMMC is oriented toward inpatients and outpatients with acute and chronic problems while providing therapy to inpatients with a need for long or short-term rehabilitation.

San Mateo County Health is seeking a qualified Therapy Aide - Extra-Help for the Rehabilitation Services Department in the San Mateo Medical Center.

Rehabilitation Services provides physical, occupational, and speech therapy services to patients in the acute, long-term care, outpatient and acute psychiatric units of San Mateo Medical Center. Under supervision, the Therapy Aide assists Physical and Occupational Therapists with mobilizing patients and assisting physical and occupational therapists in carrying out treatments primarily on the acute medical/surgical and long-term care units of San Mateo Medical Center.

Job Description

Under direct supervision, the Development Strategy & Finance Sr. Analyst works within the Port’s Real Estate and Development Division leading analytical work related to the Port’s Public-Private Partnership Development Projects. Key tasks will include preparing complex financial analyses and reports, analyzing development pro formas and appraisals, coordinating the issuance and disbursement of bonds and associated record keeping documentation, supporting with development negotiations, and managing division-wide contracts, billings, and budgets.

The Sr. Analyst will support Project Managers with all aspects of Port Development projects. The role will receive support in learning and performing all tasks with the goal of independently managing specific areas over time. The Development team and this position are collaborative in nature, and the Sr. Analyst will work with both internal and external stakeholders including all Port Divisions, specifically Port Finance and the Port’s Resilience team, the Office of Economic and Workforce Development, the Office of Public Finance, and private development partners.

The essential functions of this position include:

• Analyzes Port-wide development opportunities to prioritize projects and determine value to support Port-wide Sea Level Rise resilience projects.
• Reviews project pro formas, appraisals, and other financial analyses to determine fiscal feasibility and economic value to the Port.
• Supports Port Development, Finance, and Office of Public Finance teams with tax district formation and bond issuances.
• Tracks ongoing Project finances to ensure projects stay on budget, public sources are sufficient for funding, and Port meets revenue expectations.
• Identifies cost-saving measures for development projects and support the implementation of these actions with other City departments
• Supports Project Managers on development negotiations (term sheets, leases, community benefits) by conducting research tasks and financial projections
• Assists in the drafting of relevant development deal documents (term sheet, leases, Development Agreements)
• Assists in preparation of memos, staff reports, and presentations for Port executives, Port Commission, and Board of Supervisors.
• Coordinates billing and payments for developer reimbursables and Development-related invoices with Development Finance Manager.

Qualifications

Education

Baccalaureate degree from an accredited college or university; AND

Experience

Three (3) years full-time equivalent experience performing professional-level analytical work. Qualifying professional-level analytical work includes analysis, development, administration, and reporting in major programs and functions of an organization in the areas of budgets, contracts, grants, policy, or other functional areas related to the duties of positions in the 1823 Class series; AND

License and Certification

Possession of a valid California driver’s license (to be presented at time of appointment).  Employees must be insurable under the Port’s automobile liability insurance.  Insurability must be maintained throughout employment.

Substitution

Education Substitution: Additional qualifying work experience as described above may be substituted for the education requirement on a year-for-year basis, up to a maximum of 2 years (1 year of work experience is equal to 30 semester units or 45 quarter units).

The City Manager is the administrative head of the government of the City. THE DEPARTMENT

The Community Development department is responsible for ensuring a sustainable and vibrant community that supports a high quality of life for residents, businesses and visitors. It includes the Building, Planning and Housing divisions, and core services include building permits, plan check, inspections, affordable housing administration and housing initiatives, as well as long-range planning and development review. The Building Division is responsible for managing the building permit, plan check and inspection processes for compliance with all applicable State laws, local municipal codes and related policies involving building construction, which requires a high level of customer service with the public and coordination within and across departments and agencies.

THE POSITION

The Building Official oversees the development of programs, projects, operations, and services of the Building Division, and is a part of the Community Development management team. This position will manage a 13-member team, including a Permit Manager, Building Permit Technicians, Plan Check Engineer, and Building Inspectors, and will receive general direction from the Assistant Community Development Director or the Community Development Director. Successful performance in this role requires professional and technical skills in the core functional areas of permitting, plan checking and building inspections, as well as knowledge of public policy and municipal services, and excellence in communication and leadership. The individual must be able to assess the current needs of the department and look for innovative ways to help the department advance to improve service delivery and meet the changing needs of the community. This will require guiding modifications to the City’s land management permitting system (Accela) to improve processes, enhance customer service and monitor data.

With the adoption of the General Plan Update in 2016 and, most recently, the Housing Element zoning-related changes, the City is expected to see physical change as plans come to fruition. A key priority for this position will be overseeing the building permit process for a diverse range of projects from tenant improvements to new single-family residential construction to hotels to large-scale, comprehensive planned mixed-use campuses. Currently, the City has approximately 775 residential units and 260,000 square feet of life science uses under construction, with over 2,000 residential units, two hotels and more than 1.8 million square feet of commercial square footage approved, but not yet under construction, along with a number of large development projects currently under review. THE POSITION:  The City of San Mateo’s Community Development Department has an opportunity for an intern to work on a number of projects. San Mateo County Health is seeking an experienced individual for the position of Public Health Clinics Process Improvement Manager that plans, oversees, and provides a wide variety of administrative, analytical, and work-flow support on a County-wide level; analyzes practices and procedures and makes recommendations for organizational, operational, policy, and procedural improvements; conducts needs analysis, feasibility studies, and program evaluation for assigned projects and programs; develops, summarizes, and maintains administrative and fiscal records; fosters cooperative working relationships among County departments and acts as liaison with various community, public, and regulatory agencies; and performs related work as required.

 

There is currently one regular vacancy in the Public Health, Policy and Planning Division, located in San Mateo, but the position will include travel/driving throughout the county to perform duties of the job.

 

This management position will report to the Public Health Clinics Manager, overseeing Edison Clinics and Mobile Clinics and will have broad project management responsibility for key strategic efforts affecting the Public Health clinics, and will exercise direct and general supervision over assigned professional, technical, and office support staff.

 

Primary responsibilities will include, but are not limited to, the following:

• Quality assurance and improvement: build and visualize data in management reports and dashboards; convert data to information and use it to guide process improvement.
• Process improvement: facilitate, document, track, organize, and measure progress, e.g., conduct improvement work within daily huddles.
• Project management: lead projects and provide ad hoc support of projects.
• Knowledge management: inventory and maintain infrastructure of core programmatic documents and processes, how files are stored and shared.
• Partnership building: support internal staff operational needs; coordinate with other stakeholders, such as staff from Behavioral Health & Recovery Services, Human Services Agency, Health IT, San Mateo Medical Center, grant makers, state agencies, etc.

• Contract and MOU support: assist Clinics Manager to write scopes of work, produce required reports and invoices for categorical funding and operational agreements.
• Revenue optimization support: oversee billing quality assurance and improvement, facilitate braided funding opportunities and oversight.
• Policy and procedures facilitation: maintain inventory and lead update processes through completion, including occasional initial literature reviews or research and coordination of stakeholders.
• Change management and leadership synchronization: coordinate staff engagement, training, feedback to ensure successful system changes, facilitate leadership development and decision making, contribute to agendas, take meeting minutes, track on-going project work in support of meeting goals.

Qualifications

Education and Experience :

Any combination of training and experience that would provide the required knowledge, skills, and abilities is qualifying. A typical way to obtain the required qualifications would be:

Equivalent to graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with major coursework in business or public administration, economics, planning, finance, or a related field, and five (5) years of increasingly responsible professional administrative and analytical experience in municipal government, including experience in budget, strategic planning, policy analysis, and organizational development.
