Job Summary:  Under the direction of the Coordinator of Early Learning Quality Improvement Initiatives, perform a variety of professional activities involved in the research, collection, organization, processing, analysis, reporting, and presentation of county, district, preschool, and student-level enrollment, assessment, quality improvement, accountability, demographic, program, and a variety of other data; utilize an assigned computer system to input and extract data, maintain automated records and generate a variety of statistical reports and documents.

Essential Job Functions:              

• Perform a variety of professional activities involved in the research, collection, processing, analysis, reporting, and presentation of county, district, preschool, early learning and student-level enrollment, assessment, accountability, demographic, program, and a variety of other data
• Input, process, extract, and analyze a variety of data in an assigned computer system; format data, develop spreadsheets and generate a variety of reports and documents related to enrollment, assessment, accountability, demographics, and programs; verify and assure accuracy, integrity, and completeness of input and output data and reports
• Prepare a variety of narrative and statistical lists, records, and reports related to county-, district-, preschool-,teacher- and student-level enrollment, assessment, quality improvement, demographic, and other assigned data and activities; compare data and identify errors/discrepancies; make corrections, additions, and modifications
• Serve as a technical resource to County Office staff, administrators, school districts, preschools, outside agencies, and the public concerning assigned projects and studies and related research, analysis, and statistics; respond to inquiries and provide detailed and technical information concerning related findings, reports, data, information, practices, standards, requirements, and procedures
• Participate in monitoring and analyzing County Office and early learning quality improvement programs for educational effectiveness, outcomes and operational efficiency; provide input concerning the development and implementation of practices, policies, programs, projects, and procedures to enhance educational effectiveness, outcomes, and operational efficiency
• Contact early learning programs and partner agencies to request and collect a variety of statistical data and information; assure data is recorded, analyzed, and reported according to established procedures and time lines; distribute data, findings and reports to appropriate school district and County Office staff, administrators, sites, and the California Department of Education
• Provide County Office and school district administrators with assistance in the development and preparation of a variety of reports, and the collection, organization, analysis, interpretation, and presentation of data; develop and generate tables and graphics to enhance data presentation and reporting as needed

Qualifications:  Any combination of education and experience providing the job knowledge, skills, and ability for successful job performance will be considered for positions in this classification.  Typical qualifications would be equivalent to:

EDUCATION:   Bachelor’s degree in Mathematics, Computer Science, Business Administration or a related field

Job Summary:  Under the direction of Visually Impaired teachers, coordinate, and arrange for the adaptation of a wide variety of instructional and student services related materials for students with visual impairments. Materials may be adapted into a variety of formats including, but not limited to braille, tactile graphics, large print, and electronic files, using online alternative media sources and automated translation software.  Support organization and distribution of materials.

Essential Job Functions:              

• Transcribe a variety of instructional materials into an appropriate media such as Braille, raised-line drawings and large type print; determine appropriate format for visually impaired students; assure materials are prepared in accordance with student needs and established time lines
• Transcribe a variety of special materials such as menus, train and bus schedules, diplomas, agenda items, and Individual Education Plans (IEP), into Braille and other media as directed
• Utilize a computer and various specialized software and peripherals to scan, import, transcribe and adapt a variety of documents into Braille such as math, chemistry, foreign language, tests and other instructional materials according to Braille guidelines; emboss, collate and bind Braille materials
• Operate adaptive instructional software programs and other technology for use in the visually impaired program
• Proofread, edit and verify accuracy of transcribed materials; type instructional materials, lessons and other documents in large type print for partially sighted students; utilize a copier to enlarge documents to appropriate size
• Maintain records of transcription work and archive braille and tactile graphics produced for the San Mateo County Office of Education (SMCOE)
• Monitor and maintain student memberships in institutional alternative media accounts, e.g. Learning Ally, Bookshare, American Printing House and software licenses; maintain file folder of memberships    
• Confer with teachers and other personnel concerning instructional materials and student needs; monitor and assess student needs to determine equipment and material requirements; modify instructional materials to meet the individual needs of students as appropriate
• Receive, process, and distribute a variety of books and instructional materials for the visually impaired; notify instructors of new books and materials; apply bar codes to new items and input related information into assigned computer system
• Utilize the internet, State-wide lists, and other resources to research, obtain and confer with others concerning Braille and instructional materials for the visually impaired; recommend the purchase of textbooks and instructional materials as appropriate
• Communicate with County Office personnel and outside agencies to exchange information and resolve issues or concerns; clarify illustrations, special directions, graphs and other materials for students as needed

• Catalog and maintain SMCOE’s library of large-print and Braille books and other materials; check materials in and out of the library as needed; assist with locating specialized instructional material for the visually impaired when needed

Literacy Services Coordinator position available is a grant-funded, non-benefited, temporary appointment which operates out of the Community Learning Center, a branch of the Library Department. Incumbents coordinate the delivery of tutoring and support services for learners. Coordinator exercises considerable initiative and judgment, possesses good communication and assessment skills, and is able to work accurately and independently. The South San Francisco Public Library is a full-service library committed to delivering quality services to a diverse community. Library services are available at three sites, including the Main Library (on West Orange Avenue) the Grand Avenue Branch Library, and the Community Learning Center (CLC). Lifelong literacy services are provided by Project Read and at the CLC. The CLC offers reading, writing, computer, parenting, and workplace literacy skills, and homework assistance for elementary school students. This position would require the Coordinator to work a regular afternoon shift from Monday through Friday and occasional nights or weekends.

TYPICAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Works cooperatively with colleagues, volunteers, and participants; develops relationships with other agencies to ensure that necessary services are provided to clients.

The Child Care Division of the Parks, Beaches & Recreation Department of the City of Pacifica is recruiting for part-time Associate Teachers. Immediate openings exist! 

The Child Care Division is seeking entry level and experienced Child Care Associate Teachers for immediate hiring. Ideal candidates will be available to work year-round, Monday through Friday with varying shifts. Associate Teachers may be assigned to school-age or pre-school programs, depending upon the needs of the program. 

This position is responsible for leading activities and supervision of small groups of children at a State-funded Title V program. Duties include but are not limited to:

• Assisting staff in implementing youth recreation activities, sports, arts, crafts, and other age-appropriate activities;
• Maintaining discipline, site safety and observe the overall physical and emotional well-being of the program participants;
• Interacting with parents; participants, school district and city employees in a professional manner;

The Child Care Division of the Parks, Beaches & Recreation Department of the City of Pacifica is recruiting for a part-time Child Care Aide. Immediate openings available!

The City of Pacifica’s Child Care Division is seeking Child Care Aides for immediate hiring. Ideal candidate will be available to work year round, Monday through Friday with varying shifts. 

This position works with a Site Coordinator or Lead Teacher at a variety of pre-school or K-6/ K-8 school sites depending on program needs. The Child Care Aide is responsible for leading activities and supervision of small groups of children at a State-funded Title V program.

Duties include but not limited to:

• Assisting staff in implementing youth recreation activities, sports, arts, crafts, and other age-appropriate activities
• Maintaining discipline, site safety and observe the overall physical and emotional well-being of the program participants
• Interacting with parents, participants, school district and city employees in a professional manner
• Attending staff meetings and in-service trainnings as required

Job Requirements

• Must be 18 years old and possess either a high school diploma or GED equivalent
• Either have experience working with children or have completed Early Childhood Education (ECE) units
• Ability to communicate and work effectively with young children
• Reliability and ability to work as a productive team member

Prior to appointment, must pass a background check and fingerprint submission to the Department of Justice and State Licensing screening process, a TB test and immunizations. Interviews ongoing.
