Traffic Safety Assignment

• Replaces, maintains and repairs guard rails, traffic dividers, signs, and similar traffic control devices.
• Assists in determining color of paint to be applied to street markings.

• Applies stripes and intervals for new street markings.
• Places stencils over old street markings, start compressor and spray inside stencils.
• Cleans and maintains spray equipment, including stencil truck; place and pick up traffic cones during the operation of the striping machine.

• Applies sheeting to metal sign blanks for background color, numbering and lettering.

• Assists with street sign installation.

The Strategic Incentives Division supports the Air District’s mission by implementing incentive programs (grant programs) that achieve voluntary reductions of air pollutants and greenhouse gases, primarily from on- and off-road vehicles and equipment that operate in the Air District’s jurisdiction. In 2023-2024, the SI Division is administering more than $90 million in new revenue to fund programs and projects that replace older diesel-fueled vehicles and equipment such as school and transit buses, marine vessels, locomotives, trucks, construction equipment, agricultural equipment, and other mobile equipment, with newer, cleaner alternatives, including zero-emission technologies, and install refueling/charging infrastructure that supports the accelerated adoption of zero-emissions vehicles and equipment. Other programs administered support the reduction of single-occupancy vehicle, provide cash and mobility options to residents for turning in their older vehicles, and provide grants to reduce pollution from woodburning devices. The Division develops programs to meet community identified strategies for reducing air quality disparities and that benefit the Bay Area’s most overburdened communities.

 

About you in the position

The Principal Staff Specialist (AB 617 role) in the SI Division will coordinate the division's efforts in bringing greater equity to grant programs through program development, collaboration with other divisions, and engagement with communities under the AB 617 program. With your in-depth knowledge of the Air District’s emission reduction grant programs, you will lead the division's participation in internal and external AB 617 engagement, including communicating the role of the division; analyzing, reporting, and presenting information about air quality improvement incentive programs and mobile sources, participating in community meetings, proposing and guiding discussions on incentive-related emission reduction strategies and actions, developing plans/programs to implement action, and soliciting feedback on strategy implementation. Examples of other tasks include preparing written materials related to grant programs, reports and plans; proposing recommendations for updates to current incentive programs; developing and supporting the development of new programs; assessing impacts of regulatory actions on mobile source categories; presenting to the Board of Directors and other stakeholders; and leading and training staff. This position will require working nights and weekends on occasion to attend community meetings and public events. DISTINGUISHING FEATURES

This is the trainee and entry-level class in the Courtroom Clerk series. The Courtroom Clerk I receives formalized and on-the-job training in the techniques and procedures of courtroom work. Progression to Courtroom Clerk II requires demonstration of proficiency in functioning independently in a variety of courtroom settings and in performing the full range of duties expected of a Courtroom Clerk.

A new eligibility list will be established to fill Courtroom Clerk I vacancies at various court locations. Courtroom Clerks may be assigned or reassigned to various locations within the County and work between the hours of 8:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., as determined by the business needs of the Court.

8. Maintains and coordinates calendars; consults with attorneys, judge and others regarding calendar continuances for pretrial motions, hearings, trials and other calendar matters.
9. Participates in training to ensure competency in providing services in all case types; and assists in cross-training co-workers as needed.
10. Provides coverage for courtroom clerks in departments and locations other than primary assigned as needed.
11. Assists in the Clerk's Offices as needed when court is not in session.
12. Operates electronic equipment such as communication, recording and duplicating devices when required.

Minimum Qualifications
Option I

Experience:

The equivalent to two years of full-time experience as a Legal Processing Assistant with the Superior Court of California, County of Alameda.

or Option II

Education:

Possession of an Associate of Arts or Associate of Science degree or equivalent to two years of college coursework with 60 semester units or 90 quarter units from an accredited college or university.

And

Experience:

The equivalent to two years of full-time increasingly responsible clerical experience in a banking, court, education, health care, law enforcement, legal, probation or social services environment.

Additional qualifying work experience as described above may substitute for the required education on a year-for-year basis. One year (2080 hours) of additional qualifying work experience will be considered equivalent to 30 semester units/45 quarter units.

Knowledge of modern office practices and procedures, including filing, operation of standard office equipment and personal computers and business correspondence; English usage, grammar, spelling, vocabulary and punctuation; and basic math and record keeping systems.

Specific to Sports & Fitness and Facility Management

Responsible for the development and implementation of sports programming, including aquatics, and organizing a variety of recreational sports leagues for youth and adults.  Work closely with the school district.  Supervises seasonal Aquatics program to include staff training and in-services. Requires a basic understanding of sports terminology, concepts, and rules. Responsible for sports & fitness fee classes offered in the Danville Activity Guide.  Support facility management through facility rentals.

Air Quality Planning Section (AB 617 Role)

You will lead and contribute to the successful preparation and implementation of community-scale air quality plans in partnership with Air District staff, community members, partner organizations, local governments, the California Air Resources Board, and other state agencies. You will work to support community steering committees and other community partners determine how to best improve air quality and reduce health disparities while centering equity and addressing environmental justice. To be successful in this role, you must be a strong team player, have strong communication, project management and analytical skills, and be able to work with people of varied backgrounds and perspectives, including low-income communities of color and communities overburdened by air pollution. You will leverage your knowledge of land use, transportation, air quality, equity and environmental justice to lead and conduct research, analyze issues, prepare community centered planning materials including preparing and delivering presentations, writing summaries and plan documents, and craft recommendations to support community and Air District decision making.
 

Air Quality Planning Section (State and Federal Attainment Planning Role)

DEFINITION:

Under the general direction from Union City’s Cybersecurity Manager and/or Director of Information Technology Services, the Cybersecurity Intern will fulfill a variety of valuable functions. Recreation Supervisor (Aquatics and Fitness)

This is an exciting opportunity to join our team at the forthcoming state-of-the-art aquatic and recreation facility set to open in Summer 2024. The brand-new 49,360 sq ft facility will feature indoor and outdoor lap pools, a zero-entry wading pool, fitness amenities, a gymnasium, a walking track, and ample space for programming and rentals. 

The successful candidate for the Aquatics and Fitness opening will be responsible for professional recreation duties, encompassing the planning, organization, coordination, and supervision of aquatics and fitness programs at the facility. We are seeking candidates with substantial experience in Aquatics and Fitness, and preference will be given to those holding certifications such as AFO, CPO, LGI, WSI, or other relevant Aquatics and Fitness Certifications.

The ideal candidate for the Programs, Classes, and Events opening will assume responsibility for professional recreation duties, encompassing the planning, organization, and supervision of contract and in-house recreation programs, classes, and camps, and the permitting of external special events. The supervisor will also have oversight of youth and adult sports leagues, enrichment classes for youth and adults, and other programs within the Recreation division. The position provides technical and functional supervision for the Recreation Services Coordinators assigned to these programs.

Responsibilities of the Recreation Services Supervisor include, but are not limited to:

•    Managing and supervising assigned operations to achieve goals within available resources; planning and organizing workloads and staff assignments; trains, motivates and evaluates assigned staff and volunteers; reviews progress and directs and implements changes as needed.

Requirements

In addition to graduation from a four-year accredited college or university with major coursework in recreation, physical education, social work, gerontology, public administration or another closely related field of study – the candidate will also have three (3) years related paid recreation work experience at a level comparable to Recreation Services Coordinator or similar position with significant experience in the implementation of recreation and human services program or activities. 

Additionally, the candidate should possess a valid California driver’s license or ability to obtain one, and may be required to obtain and maintain a Class B driver’s license. First Aid, American Red Cross Lifeguard  Instructor, CPR, and other specialized certifications may be required based on supervisory assignment.
