There is currently one Cash Management Specialist vacancy in the Office of the Treasurer-Tax Collector.  Under general supervision, a Cash Management Specialist receives and processes large sums of cash, checks and negotiable items for monies due to the County.  Associated duties include maintaining financial records, reconciling County accounts, balancing cash drawers, and preparing checks for remittance processing.  Duties of the position may also include providing difficult, technical, complex or specialized fiscal, financial, statistical and accounting office support.

One requirement for this position is successful experience handling large sums of cash.

The Ideal candidate for the Cash Management Specialist position will:

• Possess bank teller and/or similar experience handling cash
• Demonstrate outstanding oral and written communication skills
• Provide high quality service to a diverse customer population
• Have the ability to operate most standard office equipment and check processing equipment

The Cash Management Specialist may be expected to:

• Review and reconcile reports, journals, budget, payroll or related fiscal and statistical data
• Audit and verify various financial information, including source data as well as manual and computer-generated reports.

Desirable characteristics of the ideal candidate include:

• Prior knowledge of, and the skill and ability to use OFAS, the County-wide accounting system, or a similar electronic accounting system
• Fluency in Spanish. (This language skill is highly desirable, but is not required for the position.)

Examples Of Duties: 
Duties may include, but are not limited to, the following:

• Accept deposits made by other County departments at cashiering window; count monies and verify amounts against deposit permits; issue receipts and credit deposits to County departments.
• Accept cash, checks or other negotiable instruments for the payment of taxes, license fees, permits and other sources of revenue for the County; issue receipts for payment.
• Explain procedures for small business licenses, determine and collect appropriate fees and issue licenses and permits.
• Record and process all incoming and outgoing monies from numerous bank accounts.
• Verify and authorize ACH debits for all County departments.
• Prepare deposits and journal entries to record the transactions in the County's accounting system.
• Maintain accurate records of treasury and tax transactions.
• Manage cash drawers for property tax and treasury deposits.
• Balance cash drawers, security statements and other revenues on a daily basis by tracking prior balances, revenues received and monies disbursed. Reconcile warrants and checks issued by the County with bank statements to check for proper dollar amount and correct numerical sequence.
• Prepare checks for remittance processing, calculate batch totals and maintain relevant financial logs and records.
• As a back up support to prepare deposits of State apportionment funds, lockbox warrants for various County departments per current State and Local Government funding regulations.
• Operate office equipment and use relevant computer systems and software in completing transactions.
• Maintain various financial records and provide various fiscal office support related to collections.
• Consolidates daily bank statements of all County departments.
• Process tax payments, look up property tax information in the system, and print tax bills as needed.
• Process daily mail and answer phone calls to provide information to customers
• Research transaction inquires for other County departments
• Submit foreign checks for collection and counterfeit bills to U.S. Secret Service
• Perform related duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS 
Knowledge of:

• Methods, practices and terminology used in the proper management of cash, collections and other negotiable instruments.
• Banking methods and terminologies.
• Revenue collection payment plans and debtor requirements.

Education and Experience:
Any combination of education and experience that would likely provide the required knowledge, skills and abilities is qualifying.  A typical way to qualify is two years of experience as a bank teller within the last five years. 

APPLICATION/EXAMINATION 
Anyone may apply. Current San Mateo County and San Mateo County Superior Court employees with at least six months (1040 hours) of continuous service in a classified regular, probationary, SEIU or AFSCME represented extra-help/term, or temporary position prior to the final filing date will receive five points added to their final passing score on this examination.

The examination process will consist of a Two-Part Screening (weight pass/fail) and a Panel Interview (weight 100%). 

The first part of the screening process will consist of a Written Examination. Those applicants who achieve a passing score on the Written Examination will advance to the second part of the screening. The second part of the screening will consist of a Review and Rating of the Application Packet, including a careful review of the responses to the supplemental questions. Those applicants who receive a passing score on the rating of the application packet will then be invited to the Panel Interview.

Depending on the number of applicants an application appraisal of education and experience may be used in place of other examinations or a screening committee may select those applicants whose education and/or experience appear to best meet the needs of the position.

Under general supervision, this part-time position performs a wide range of library tasks; assists patrons by answering reference and other questions and in selecting library materials; and performs related duties as required.

In addition to performing public services tasks in the Healdsburg Regional Library, this position also provides assistance in the Sonoma County Wine Library (located within the Healdsburg Library). The ideal candidate will have the knowledge and abilities to support both aspects of the position.

Class Characteristics

Physical Demands

Must possess mobility to work in a standard office and library setting and use standard office equipment, including a computer; vision to read printed materials and a computer screen; hearing and speech to communicate in person, before groups, and over the telephone.  This classification primarily works indoors and requires movement between work areas.  Finger dexterity is needed to access, enter, and retrieve materials and data using a computer keyboard or calculator and to operate standard office equipment.  Positions in this classification frequently bend, stoop, kneel, and reach to retrieve and shelve materials.  Incumbents must possess the ability to lift, carry, push, and pull items, storage containers, and shelving units weighing an average of 20 pounds, and up to 50 pounds of weight, in order to move materials from one place to another, with the aid of lifting/moving equipment.

Environmental Elements

The San Mateo County Sheriff's Office is seeking an analytical and collaborative Payroll & Personnel Services Specialist.

This full-time, benefited position plans, oversees and participates in the inspection, repair and maintenance for library infrastructure, systems and facilities throughout Sonoma County; sets priorities for facilities maintenance staff; provides project management for contracted work; and performs related work as required.

TYPICAL TASKS include, but are not limited to:

• Plans, oversees and performs a wide variety of skilled maintenance, repair, and installation work on the Library’s infrastructure, systems, and facilities, including electrical, mechanical, plumbing, carpentry, painting, air conditioning, heating, masonry, glass, security/emergency safety systems, and other mechanical systems

• Directs the work of facilities maintenance support staff and outside contractors to ensure high safety and quality standards

• Prepares formal bid specifications, requisitions, and other documents to procure services, supplies, equipment, tools and materials for various construction projects or other operational needs

• Conducts administrative management duties related to facilities management including maintaining accurate logs and records of work completed, processing work order forms, producing cost estimates for repairs and responding to emails regarding facilities maintenance

• Observes and promotes safe work methods and makes appropriate use of related safety equipment as required

• Responds to after-hours emergencies

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Education and Experience:

Equivalent to the completion of the twelfth (12th) grade and five (5) years of increasingly responsible experience in a skilled building and/or construction trade.

Licenses and Certifications:

Possession of a valid California driver’s license.

Knowledge of:

• Principles and practices of providing lead direction to others, including work planning, assignment, review and evaluation, and the training of staff in work procedures

SENIOR BUILDING MECHANIC

DEFINITION

Under general supervision, provides excellent customer service, plans, oversees and participates in the inspection, repair and maintenance for library infrastructure, systems and facilities; sets priorities for facilities maintenance staff; provides project management for contracted work; and performs related work as required.

SUPERVISION RECEIVED AND EXERCISED

Receives general supervision from the Facilities Manager or an assigned supervisor. Exercises direct and/or general supervision over and provides training to assigned building mechanic and support staff.

CLASS CHARACTERISTICS

This is the advanced journey-level class in the facilities maintenance series. Incumbents plans, oversees and participates in the inspection, repair and maintenance for library infrastructure, systems and facilities to ensure that Library facilities are maintained in a safe and effective working condition and provide the highest level of safety for public use. Incumbents are expected to work independently, exercising sound judgment and initiative within defined procedures and policies to determine appropriate action. This class is distinguished from the Facilities Manager in that the latter engages in management level planning, decision making, and has greater authority regarding oversight of the facilities budget.

THE POSITION:

The City of San Rafael, Child Care Division is accepting applications for Child Care Instructor I to work in our School-Age Programs.  Under the supervision of the Child Care Director or Head Teacher, you will assist in the planning and implementation of daily activities for the school-age program.
