The City of Berkeley is seeking a Housing Development Specialist (Community Development Project Coordinator)! In this role you will have the opportunity to be part of the team responsible for implementing the City’s Housing Trust Fund and Small Sites Programs. This position will work on renovations and new construction projects, the latter of which will include developments at the North Berkeley and Ashby BART sites. You'll work closely with nonprofit developers to underwrite project proposals, recommend funding, negotiate loan and regulatory agreements, and monitor project progress. You will also provide technical assistance and capacity building support to smaller, emerging developers.
As a contributing member of Housing and Community Services Division (HCS) and the Health, Housing and Community Services Department (HHCS), this position is part of a team that is dedicated to enhancing community life and supporting housing, health, and wellness for all. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
A typical way of gaining the knowledge, skills, and abilities for this position is:
Equivalent to graduation from a four-year college with major coursework in business, planning, or public administration or a closely related field and four (4) years of professional project management experience in community development, such as housing, economic development, public works, or planning. Lead and/or supervisory experience is desirable.
A master's degree in a related program is desirable and can be substituted for one (1) year of the required experience.
Must be able to attend evening meetings. A valid California driver's license is desirable.
