Physical Demands

POSITION DESCRIPTION

The District has one regular, full-time opening for the position of Backflow and Reclamation Specialist in the Environmental and Engineering Services Division.  Interested persons must submit a completed District application and Supplemental Questionnaire to the Human Resources Department.

DEFINITION

Under general supervision, implements and enforces the District’s Cross-Connection Control Program and the Recycled Water Program.

DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS

This is a specialist journey level class within the Environmental and Engineering Division responsible for performing the duties associated with the District’s Cross-Connection Control, Recycled Water, and Water Quality Programs. Duties performed include extensive public contact requiring considerable tact, initiative, and discretion in regards to water and recycled water distribution connections. Incumbents in this class work independently in the field and in the office handling consumer issues, conducting field investigations and surveys, performing inspections and related testing, and monitoring and repairing District-owned backflow prevention assemblies.

EXAMPLES OF DUTIES

• Provides technical advice and support on backflow and recycled water issues to other District employees and the public;

The City of San Rafael is seeking a full-time Shop and Equipment Supervisor in the Public Works Department.  Under general supervision, this position supervises preventive maintenance, outfitting, and skilled repair of City fleet and police vehicles and light to heavy-duty trucks and equipment. 

The Shop and Equipment Supervisor is a first full supervisory level in charge of personnel and activities associated with maintaining the City’s fleet of automotive, light, and heavy trucks and equipment.  This position is a working supervisor, participating in the work of the unit as needed.  The position is guided by established policies and procedures, principles of the trade, and supervisory personnel.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: 

• Supervises the repair and maintenance of City vehicles and equipment and equipping of new police vehicles and construction equipment.

DEFINITION: Under general supervision, the Field Monitor provides operational support and supervision of Mill Valley parks, outdoor fields, offsite facilities, and occasionally the Mill Valley Community Center. Responsibilities will include but will not be limited to patrol and observation of outdoor facilities, ensuring compliance with facility regulations and use guidelines, general customer service, light office tasks, and the performance of other related work as required. This is a part-time, year-round position.

EXAMPLES OF DUTIES:

• Monitor user activities in department facilities and enforce all rules, regulations, and safety principles.
• Patrol field, park and offsite facilities to monitor rental schedules and permitted use.
• Act as a liaison to the outdoor recreational community for the Recreation Department.
• Provide quality customer service and information for all Department facilities, classes, programs, and events.
• Maintain appearance and overall environment of facilities by completing daily tasks and cleaning as needed.
• Occasionally assist with the coordination and execution of Department-sponsored outdoor events or classes.
