The City of Pacifica is seeking a seasoned, collaborative, and forward-thinking leader to serve as Deputy Director of Public Works - Field Services & Engineering. The Procurement Division of the County Executive’s Office is seeking well-qualified candidates for the position of Buyer II. Under general supervision, a Buyer II provides a full range of detailed and complex procurement services for all county departments.

Examples of Duties:
Duties may include, but are not limited to, the following:

• Receive, review, and check purchase requisitions to determine needs of departments, market conditions, and product availability.

QUALIFICATIONS

Any combination of experiences that would likely provide the required knowledge, skills, and abilities is qualifying.  

• A typical way to qualify at the Buyer II level might be three years of experience that would demonstrate knowledge and command of complex commodity areas, and the principles, policies, and procedures of public agency procurement.

 
Knowledge of:

• Principles, practices, procedures, and applications of large-scale procurement. 
• Laws and regulations governing procurement policies and procedures in public agencies. 
• Procedures and requirements of governmental procurement. 
• Commodity sources of supply, trade, brand names, publications, and source material in the field of procurement.
• Procedures and practices of procurement using formal and informal bidding. 
• Sources of supply, marketing practices, and pricing methods and differentials.

DEFINITION: Under general supervision from Preschool Instructor(s) and the Recreation Supervisor, the preschool aide assists in planning, organizing, and implementing preschool programming for children ages 2-5 years old in a range of classes from introductory drop-off preschool classes to Kindergarten preparedness preschool classes. Program hours are M-F PM 8:30am – 1:00pm. Approximately 20– 23 hours a week. Preschool aides must be willing and able to both take direction from the Preschool Instructor and work independently when fulfilling tasks. Substitute and on-call positions also available.

General

The Principal Transportation Planner, Multimodal Corridor Programs will report to the San Mateo County Transportation Authority (SMCTA) Manager, Planning and Fund Management, and will be responsible for leading strategic planning initiatives for the Corridor Connect Program, managing the Highway Program Call for Projects, and leading major multimodal safety and congestion relief planning projects. This Principal Transportation Planner will work in partnership with jurisdiction staff across San Mateo County to support local agencies with complex transportation projects, community engagement, and grant or funding strategy development. This role will also support the Planning & Fund Management team members with other SMCTA managed programs, as needed, including the Pedestrian & Bicycle Program and Transportation Demand Management Program. 

Essential Functions & Duties

Examples of Essential Functions: 

• Coordinate on-going initiatives and programmatic activities, monitor progress of priority projects, and communicate updates regularly to stakeholder groups along SMCTA Corridor Connect major highways include US 101, El Camino Real, and Highway 1   
• Manage complex and multi-disciplinary planning projects, or significant portions of such projects, involving a high level of technical complexity, public visibility, and coordination with numerous stakeholders.
• Compile, arrange, analyze, and interpret transportation, demographic and financial data, and presenting them in both quantitative and qualitative formats.
• Facilitate public meetings/workshops and assist with promoting community-based organization partnerships in planning efforts.
• Provide technical assistance to stakeholder agencies on various transportation subject areas by leading projects on behalf of outside agencies, managing consultant contracts, and providing strategic guidance on an as needed basis.
• Lead the development of funding strategies to assist with advanced planning for implementing projects.
• Work collaboratively with internal and external teams to help advance and support mobility initiatives with a focus on multimodal safety and congestion relief for highways and major arterials.
• May supervise staff including hiring, mentoring and taking appropriate corrective and/or disciplinary action. Ensure EEO and affirmative action policies and procedures are followed. Coordinate staff training and professional development, establish performance objectives, monitor and evaluate employee performance. 

• Advance planning work related to a number of wide-ranging topics including but not limited to the following: mobility hubs, transportation demand management, bicycle and pedestrian planning and concept design, signal operations, and/or multimodal highway planning efforts.

• Manage projects and/or programs in partnership with outside agencies, including but not limited to cities, County of San Mateo, and City/County of San Mateo Association of Governments (C/CAG).

• Prepare or coordinate the research, analysis and writing of reports for the SMCTA Board and/or advisory committees.

• Develop and present oral reports in relation to SMCTA planning and program initiatives.

• Assist with the strategic development and preparation of grant applications.

• Establish and maintain working relationships with key partners at the local, regional, and state levels.  

• Assist with the development of strategic planning efforts.

Sufficient experience, training and/or education to demonstrate the knowledge and ability to successfully perform the essential functions of the position. Development of the required knowledge and abilities is typically obtained through but not limited to:

• Bachelor’s degree in Public or Business Administration, Transportation/Urban Planning, Public Policy, Economics, Engineering, and/or other related field. 

• Four (4) years of increasingly responsible experience in providing professional-level multimodal transportation planning and concept designs. 

• Knowledge of transportation planning and/or engineering for bicycle/pedestrian, transit, transportation demand management, multimodal highways and the environmental process for transportation projects is preferred.
• Knowledge of Caltrans Local Assistance Procedures Manual and best practice design standards such as NACTO, AASHTO, and other sources.
• Knowledge of local, regional, state, and federal grant funding opportunities.  
• Experience with GIS and proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
• Proven experience utilizing analytical, written and verbal communication and presentation skills at many different levels of an organization.

Position Summary

Develops various transit and traffic analyses, plans, and projects which include complying with requirements of Title VI and ADA. Coordinates the District’s data using sources from, Golden Gate Bridge Traffic and Toll Revenue Collection System and data from outside the District, and will plan for new data resources to be integrated into the District’s systems as they become available on-line. Provides District data regarding bridge, road and transit facilities, traffic data and performance, transit ridership and performance, and toll and parking policies to outside and partner agencies. 

Makes regular personal contact with District staff to interpret planning policy and interacts with outside public works and transit partner agency representatives to exchange planning and conceptual design information.  Regularly works with the public and other agencies to develop and implement District programs. Receives general assignments or objectives from the Director of Planning, and performs related duties as required or assigned.

Essential Responsibilities

• Develops environmental compliance documents in support of CEQA and/or NEPA approvals

• Researches, compiles, analyzes and interprets complex technical, demographic, economic, financial and other statistical data for the development of various roadway and transit facility plans and projects such as the District's transit service plan, transit capital improvement program, proposed bridge tolls  or parking facilities.
• Monitors and evaluates transit service performance, bridge traffic patterns, parking occupancy and trends, and transit service patronage, including the use of computer techniques or models where appropriate
• Prepares, or supervises preparation of, routine evaluations of the efficiency and effectiveness of bus on-street operations, major transit facilities and bus stops.  Recommends specific improvements based on these evaluations

• Prepares official recommendations and informational reports for consideration by the general public, the District's Board of Directors, technical staff of the District or other agencies and other groups on technical and planning subjects. Position Summary

Under the general direction of the Supervising Vessel Master, this position is responsible for the safe navigation of the vessel in accordance with Division policy and the requirements of law.  Responsible for the start-up and shut down of engines and generators plus the in-service care and maintenance of machinery and auxiliaries.   Supervises crew in general upkeep and cleanliness of vessel when in-service crew is aboard and performs other related duties as required by management policy.

Essential Responsibilities

• • Navigates the vessel and is responsible for the safety of the passengers and crew.
  • Supervises crew-members in safety procedures.
  • Monitors and inspects the engine room and carries out servicing and maintenance procedures as directed.
  • Conducts and supervises emergency drills prescribed by the US Coast Guard at intervals set by management.
  • Assists with US Coast Guard and FCC inspections when required.
  • Ensures that all US Coast Guard and FCC certificates are valid for vessel operation.
  • Maintain an accurate daily vessel log and prepares such reports and documents as are required by law and District policy. 
  • Knows and follows the safety and health rules and safe working practices applicable to his or her job

The Department of Public Works is seeking experienced individuals for the position of Road Equipment Supervisor. 

The ideal candidate will have at least 4 years' of increasing responsible experience overseeing a crew involved in the operation of heavy equipment in road construction and maintenance activities, as well as experience in planning, organizing, coordinating, directing and participating in projects involving heavy equipment in construction and maintenance of roadways, bridges, channels, landscape areas, and storm drains and sewers. Additionally, the ideal candidate will have experience utilizing e-mail, word processing, spreadsheets, databases, project management, maintenance management systems.

 

Examples Of Duties

Duties may include, but are not limited to, the following:

• Plan, prioritize, and coordinate projects with the Road Maintenance Managers.
• Supervise, train, evaluate and instruct a group of equipment operators, drivers, and laborers.
• Ensure compliance with safety practices and procedures.
• Estimate and order materials.
• Assist the Vehicle and Equipment Manager with writing specifications for new equipment.
• Coordinate with Vehicle and Equipment Section on equipment repairs to ensure equipment is available when needed.

Qualifications

Education and Experience:
Any combination of education and experience that would likely provide the required knowledge, skills and abilities is qualifying. A typical way to qualify is:
 
 Four years of experience in the operation of rollers, bulldozers, backhoes, mowers and graders.
 
Knowledge of:

• Supervisory principles and practices, including work planning, scheduling, employee training and evaluation.
• Basic mathematics.
• Provision of the California Vehicle Code applying to the operation of vehicles.
• Safety practices in the operation of heavy construction equipment.
• Capabilities of all types of heavy equipment.
• Road maintenance and construction operations, materials and procedures.
• Operation of and preventative maintenance for trucks and road maintenance equipment.

Skill/Ability to:

• Plan, supervise and inspect the work of others.
• Determine personnel, material and equipment requirements for construction or maintenance projects.
• Read blueprints, read and interpret grade stakes, and use instruments to check grades.
• Operate a wide variety of complex road construction and maintenance equipment and light and medium duty trucks including graders, bulldozers, large loaders, backhoes, hydraulic excavators, rollers and mowers.

The Facilities Team is a component of the agency’s Business Operations Team, which plays a critical role in supporting agency-wide operations by delivering integrated services that ensure continuity, efficiency, and alignment with organizational and building-wide priorities.
 
ABOUT THE ROLE 
The Facilities Manager provides strategic leadership and oversight of building operations and facilities programs. This role leads the Bay Area Headquarters Authority (BAHA) Shared Services Organization (SSO), which works in tandem with the building’s property management team to manage building operations, emergency preparedness programs, guides the agency’s space planning and ergonomic strategies to support evolving organizational needs. The Facilities Manager supervises the Facilities Team and partners with internal leadership sections, and external service providers to align facilities operations with agency priorities.

At a strategic level, the Facilities Manager develops and advances facilities programs that optimize space utilization, ensure operational resilience, manage financial resources responsibly, and maximize long-term asset value. The role serves as a key liaison to stakeholders, promoting a customer-focused approach while ensuring regulatory compliance, fiscal discipline, and sustainable facility operations.

This role requires a leader who can ensure the reliability of existing building systems while identifying and implementing strategic improvements that modernize facilities operations, enhance efficiency, and support evolving workplace needs. Key priorities include maintaining safe and compliant building systems, optimizing space utilization, strengthening stakeholder and vendor partnerships, and reinforcing strong financial and operational discipline.

About the Opportunity

This position is limited to 1,000 hours per fiscal year, averaging approximately 20 hours per week. Work schedules are based on business needs and candidate availability. As part of supporting the City Clerk's Office, the Intern will assist with preparation and setup for City Council meetings held on the 2nd and 4th Tuesday evenings of each month, in addition to occasional weekend events and community activities. The Intern will support the Administrative Services Department, assisting both the City Manager's Office and City Clerk's Office. Under close supervision, the Intern will perform a variety of administrative, analytical, and project-based assignments while gaining valuable exposure to municipal government operations.

Typical Responsibilities Include:

• Assisting with administrative tasks and special projects
• Conducting research, compiling data, and preparing reports
• Drafting correspondence, policies, procedures, and other written materials
• Supporting City meetings, public outreach efforts, and departmental initiatives
• Responding to requests for information and assisting with day-to-day office operations

Qualifications

Education

Current enrollment in, or recent graduation from, an accredited college or university.

Preferred fields of study include:

• Communications
• Political Science
• Public Policy
