The Charge Nurse, in collaboration with the clinic manager, directs nursing care, coordinates resources for their clinic and performs administrative activities, while providing leadership and support to staff. The Charge Nurse provides quality care to patients in compliance with prescribed standards and participates as member of the clinic management team in the development and implementation of clinic goals, interfacing with the Clinic Manager, Supervising Providers and Patient Services Supervisors for long and short-term problem solving.

The Charge Nurse assesses, evaluates and directs nursing activities to provide quality care to patients in compliance with prescribed standards. This position supervises licensed and non-licensed staff in the OB/GYN clinic, the Optometry Clinic, and Specialty Clinic. The Charge Nurse ensures adequate staffing in all areas and cross trains staff as appropriate. The Charge Nurse also interviews candidates for positions and completes performance evaluations. The position participates in the training and disciplinary counseling of staff.

The ideal candidate has outpatient nursing experience and at least one year of supervisory experience. The ideal candidate is also experienced in providing education and updates to staff, as well as in scheduling for multiple shifts, and has excellent communication skills. Knowledge of quality improvement processes and community health systems is strongly preferred. The ideal candidate has also worked with the underserved population; and is bilingual in Spanish and English.

The Controller’s Office

The mission of the Controller’s Office of San Mateo County is to promote the County's operational effectiveness and ensure its financial transparency and integrity by providing quality accounting, audit, and financial reporting services.
   
The Controller's Office maintains the County’s accounting system and records, and prepares independently audited, award-winning annual financial reports (ACFR and PAFR) that disclose the financial condition of the County to the public. We are staffed with 51 full-time accounting, audit, and information systems professionals. The office also calculates annual property tax bill amounts, distribute taxes collected to local government agencies, and performs internal audits of the County’s operations.
  
We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated individual to join our Controller’s Information Systems (CIS) team to support various mission-critical applications for the County as they pertain to finance, expense reimbursements, timekeeping, as well as support Countywide system integrations.  
  
As an Application Support Analyst III, you will leverage your systems expertise to collaborate and consult with colleagues within the Controller’s Office and other County fiscal and/or technical staff and resolve issues related to the systems, improve business processes by recommending and implementing solutions within the systems, process requests such as report and integrations development, and maintain application security at both an authentication and application access level.  
  
This role will entail hands-on support, administration, configuration, and maintenance of multiple related financial systems, including Finance Enterprise by CentralSquare for general accounting, Coupa for accounts payable and vendor onboarding, and Workday Expense for employee expense reimbursements.  
 
While the ideal candidate has experience in all of these systems, we are also accepting candidates who have experience and expertise in at least one of the aforementioned systems but can demonstrate transferable skills to learn the other systems and applications.
   

The ideal candidate will also have:

• 5+ years of proven application support and administration experience, preferably in Finance Enterprise, Coupa, and/or Workday Expense.
• A Bachelor's Degree or higher in Management of Information Systems, Information Technology, or an equivalent field of study is preferred.
• Proven experience leading end-to-end small to medium-sized application projects and implementing solutions for operational improvements and automation.
• Knowledge of VB Script, SQL, and Cognos (or other reporting platform).

Physical Demands
Must possess mobility to work in a standard office setting and use standard office equipment, including a computer; vision to read printed materials and a computer screen; and hearing and speech to communicate in person and over the telephone.  Standing in and walking between work areas is frequently required.  Finger dexterity is needed to access, enter, and retrieve data using a computer keyboard or calculator and to operate standard office equipment.  Positions in this classification frequently bend, stoop, kneel, and reach to perform assigned duties, as well as push and pull drawers open and closed to retrieve and file information.  Employees must possess the ability to lift, carry, push, and pull materials and objects up to 25 pounds with the use of proper equipment.

Environmental Elements
Employees work in an office environment with moderate levels, controlled temperature conditions, and no direct exposure to hazardous physical substances. Employees may interact with upset staff when providing application system support.

 

Application/Examination

Open & Promotional. Anyone may apply. Current County of San Mateo and County of San Mateo Superior Court of California employees with at least six months (1040 hours) of continuous service in a classified regular, probationary, or extra-help/limited term position prior to the final filing date will receive five points added to their final passing score.

Responses to the supplemental questions must be submitted in addition to our regular employment application form. A resume will not be accepted as a substitute for the required employment application and supplemental questionnaire.

The examination process will consist of an application screening based on the candidates' application and responses to the supplemental questions (weight: pass/fail). Candidates who pass the application screening may be invited to a panel interview (weight: 100%). Depending on the number of applicants, an application appraisal of education and experience may be used in place of other examinations, or further evaluation of work experience may be conducted to group applicants by level of qualification. Applicants meeting the minimum qualifications are not guaranteed advancement through any subsequent phase of the examination. All examinations will be given in San Mateo County, California, and applicants must participate at their own expense.
