The Town of San Anselmo is seeking a motivated Administrative / Permit Services Technician to support the Community Development Department. This mid-level classification performs a wide range of technical and administrative duties with a high degree of independence, primarily in a fast-paced, customer-facing environment.

This hands-on position serves as a primary point of contact at the public counter and requires significant daily interaction with residents, contractors, and other stakeholders. Responsibilities include accepting, reviewing, and tracking building and land development applications; calculating and collecting fees; issuing minor permits; performing data entry and maintaining permit tracking systems; coordinating the distribution of legal notices; maintaining files and records; preparing reports; and supporting website updates.

Success in this role requires delivering a consistently high level of customer service, the ability to manage multiple priorities in a high-volume, fast-paced setting, and a commitment to helping customers navigate processes efficiently and effectively. The position also requires building and maintaining positive, professional working relationships both internally across departments and externally with the public and working effectively with a wide range of individuals while maintaining a respectful, service-oriented approach.

Description 

Under the general direction from the Recreation Supervisor, the Recreation Specialist – Enrichment is responsible to act as a liaison to the Department’s flourishing enrichment (after school) program and ensure the smooth operation of programming for preschool and elementary aged classes both on and off-site. This includes the elementary-aged afterschool programs Supervised Play at Old Mill Elementary School and Center of Play at the Mill Valley Community Center. This position requires a high level of customer service, attention to detail, marketing prowess, evaluation and oversight of programs, independent contractors, and part-time staff, and the ability to build relationships throughout the community. The Recreation Specialist- Enrichment will assist other staff in the Youth and Teens Division for seasonal programs as needed. 

The ideal candidate will have significant experience working in elementary aged programs, ideally in a fast-paced and dynamic setting. A bachelor’s degree from an accredited four-year college or university with major coursework in early childhood education, recreation, or a related field with a minimum of two years of experience in delivering kindergarten, elementary and/or youth programming, etc. is preferred.

NOTE: This is a part-time, non-benefitted position for the Mill Valley Arts and Recreation Department.  

DEFINITION: Communicate with participants, families, instructors, staff and elementary school sites to coordinate class schedules, registrations, and program needs for the TK-5th grade After School Enrichment programs. Hours are approximately Monday-Friday, 12:30pm-5:30pm. 

EXAMPLES OF DUTIES: 

• Facilitates recreation activities for specific age group: Transitional Kindergarten through 5th Grade. 

• Organizes, implements, directs, supervises and/or promotes specific programs and activities. 

• Processes program payments promptly and thoroughly. 

• Programs enrichment classes for each season (Fall/Winter/Spring/Summer).  

• Participates in the preparation and administration of assigned program budget. 

• Works with local School District, PTAs, and community groups in developing, promoting, and providing programs and activities. 

• Communicates clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing. 

• Demonstrate excellent customer service and communicate effectively and professionally with schools, staff, parents, and children. 

• Monitors the day-to-day operations of the programs, including making site visits, handling and resolving complaints not requiring the attention of a supervisor and ensuring that programs and events have required materials, staff, and supplies. 

• Assists in the evaluation of programming including conducting customer satisfaction surveys and analyzing reports on program effectiveness. 

• Enforces safety and operating procedures and provides for maintenance needs including compliance with health and safety codes. 

• Creation and development of new programs, as needed. 

• Accurately maintain attendance records. 

• The ability to speak English clearly and understandably. 

• Perform related duties as required. 

• Must be able to lift 50lbs.  

TRAINING & EXPERIENCE: Any combination of education, training, and experience, which likely provides the required knowledge and abilities.

The San Rafael Public Library is hiring Teen Interns (2 Positions Available) for the Summer Lunch at the Library Program.  This important initiative helps ensure that youth in the City of San Rafael have access to free, healthy lunches throughout the summer.  As a Lunch at the Library Intern, you will support a variety of program activities while working under the direction of library staff, gaining valuable experience and contributing to your community.  All City of San Rafael teens age 16-18 are encouraged to apply.  NO PREVIOUS WORK EXPERIENCE REQUIRED!

The Teen Intern is an energetic and dependable individual who enjoys engaging with diverse children an families (ages 0-12) and teens (ages 12-18).  The Teen Intern will arrive on time with a positive attitude, is able to manage multiple tasks efficiently, communicate well with library staff and community members, and is open to learning new skills.  They are willing to begin and end each workday at the library, participate in off-site outreach, assist in preparing and breaking down materials for each shift, and help track program statistics.  Above all, they foster a welcoming and inclusive environment, ensuring all community members feel accepted at the library.

This position performs the following essential job duties (including but not limited to):

• Attend orientations and trainings.
• Set up pop-up outreach site, track book distribution, and lead interactive off-site program.
• Promote the library's Summer Reading Challenge.
• Lead activities with children and parents.
• Lunch at the Library is a joint partnership between the library and a federally funded program.  Teen interns will be expected to learn and adhere to all Federal guidelines, as well as San Rafael Public Library policies and procedures.

• June 15, 2026 to August 7, 2026
• Required Schedule:  Monday thru Friday - 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.
• The total time commitment is 10 hours of required training and 60 hours of regularly scheduled shifts over 7 weeks.
• Interns must be able to complete all 10 hours of training and 60 hours to be considered for the internship opportunity.

The Skywalker Fire Brigade Fire Chief (FC) position will supervise, lead, and train the Skywalker Fire Brigade (Department). This is a management position for 9 employees that staffs one private fire station and has the opportunity to build and direct a motivated staff of firefighters. The Fire Chief will oversee three duty Captains and their projects, providing guidance and leadership for the organization. The Fire Chief will oversee daily schedules with regard to standard prevention activities, training, and special events. Oversee fire prevention inspections, lead vegetation management projects including pile burning, shaded fuel breaks, and interact with the property insurance agent and facilities manager for future projects. The Chief will represent the Skywalker Fire Brigade during county-wide meetings for Operations and Training. Skywalker Fire employees provide an extraordinary level of customer service and hospitality to Skywalker Properties' clientele. While this role operates within a Brigade fire department, the position itself is mostly comprised of prevention and training. Schedule:

There is currently one (1) full-time, regular hire Civil Engineer (Engineering) vacancy.

The Senior Civil Engineer (CE) plans, manages, and coordinates the engineering program. Using broad parameters of departmental policy guidelines, this position exercises substantial initiative, judgment, and expertise to meet program and project outcomes. The Senior Civil Engineer creates the scope on large civil engineering projects with complex budgets and timelines, integrating numerous elements that significant stakeholder involvement and sensitivity. This position provides direction and mentorship to more junior staff and oversees both technical and administrative work performed by their staff and ensures that projects are completed efficiently and effectively for the public good. Informing the public and Board of Supervisors, selecting consultants, preparing contract documents, reviewing project plans and specifications prepared by consultants, and administering contracts during construction are performed by the Senior Civil Engineer.

Signing bonus:

In addition to a competitive compensations package, new, full-time, regular hire Senior Civil Engineer are eligible to receive a $10,000.00 signing bonus which will be split into two equal payments: 50% at time of hire (i.e. first paycheck) and the remaining 50% after successful completion of their probationary period.

Hybrid schedule:

The Department of Public Works has embraced a hybrid work schedule that considers that some duties of this position may be performed remotely. However, the successful candidate must be able to report to County facilities for meetings, work assignments, and/or disaster service work upon short notice, as needed and deemed appropriate. During the initial probationary period, the successful candidate may be required to work primarily onsite before establishing a hybrid work schedule.
