About the Role

Reporting to the Director of Partnerships and Government Relations, the Senior Manager of Marketing Communications brings a collaborative spirit and a self-starter mindset. This role requires someone who is equally comfortable leading strategy and rolling up their sleeves to execute on day-to-day marketing needs. They bring thoughtfulness to how messaging is developed and deployed, ensuring all communications reflect First 5 Orange County’s mission and values.
The ideal candidate understands the full spectrum of marketing communications, including how reputation, awareness, and demand intersect to support organizational goals. They have the strategic expertise to shape campaigns and the tactical know-how to implement them effectively. They are experienced in building and managing content for websites, understand best practices in user experience, and know how to leverage digital platforms to educate and engage the public. An understanding of government agencies is especially important, as is experience navigating the unique communications needs and protocols in those environments.
Social media plays a key role in the communications ecosystem, and this leader will guide its use as a tool for public awareness and education. Essential Job Responsibilities

• Develop and lead a comprehensive marketing and communications strategy aligned with First 5 Orange County’s mission and strategic plan.
• Lead content development across all platforms, including website, newsletters, social media, presentations, and marketing collateral.
• Plan, write, and oversee the production of marketing collateral such as brochures, fact sheets, infographics, flyers, and other outreach materials.
• Manage and produce the organization’s annual report, ensuring it effectively communicates impact, financial transparency, and community outcomes.
• Coordinate visual storytelling efforts, including photography and videography at community events and for campaigns.
• Oversee the planning, creation, and publication of compelling content that educates, informs, and inspires action.
• Manage and optimize the organization’s website for content accuracy, accessibility, SEO, and user experience.
• Design and execute social media strategies to increase engagement and awareness, managing both content and performance metrics.
• Build and maintain media relationships and manage proactive and reactive public relations initiatives.
• Lead or support the development and execution of public education campaigns in partnership with creative agencies and vendors.
• Ensure messaging consistency across all internal and external communications.
• Analyze and report on the effectiveness of marketing and communications efforts, using data to guide improvements.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams and community partners to ensure communications are inclusive, culturally responsive, and effective.
• Manage relationships with marketing consultants, designers, web developers, and other vendors.
• Serve as a thought partner to leadership on communications strategy and crisis communications, as needed.
• Lead and oversee branding strategy to ensure consistent, accurate, and compelling use of logo, visual identity, and messaging across all communications.

The City of Healdsburg is currently recruiting a Fire Inspector to join our team! The Associate Planner supports the Town’s planning and development functions by reviewing and analyzing a variety of land use and development applications to ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations. The Bolinas Fire Protection District is a combination paid/volunteer fire department providing services in emergency medical care, fire protection, disaster response, fire prevention and community education. Bolinas is a unique coastal community with approximately 1,500 year-round residents. Thousands of visitors are also attracted to our beaches and surrounding National Parks year-round. The District employs a full-time Chief, full-time Administrative Manager, and three full-time Firefighters. We also rely on the support of a dedicated group of approximately 20 volunteer firefighters and EMT’s. The department responds to approximately 300 emergency and public assistance calls annually, with approximately 80% medical aid calls.

DUTIES:

• Report to the Bolinas Fire Chief
• Perform scene command and personnel supervision during incidents
• Perform fire apparatus engineer and firefighting duties
• Perform fire prevention activities and public education
• Assist in leading volunteer trainings and support the volunteer firefighting program
• Provide BLS emergency medical care
• Drive and operate fire apparatus and related equipment
• Maintain fire station, grounds and related equipment & apparatus

Position Duties  

The Department of Public Works is recruiting to fill two (2) Building Inspector-Electrical Specialty, Combination/Certified I/II/III/Senior positions within the Engineering Services Division, Code Inspection Section.   

The Building Inspector Combination/Certified I/II/III/Senior position will be located subject to business need. This position will provide inspection support at a variety of City of San José facilities, including the Airport, Regional Wastewater Facility and Central Service Yard.  

Key responsibilities and duties may include, but are not limited to the following:  

• Conduct inspections of industrial, commercial, manufacturing, and facilities to ensure compliance with codes, regulations, ordinances, standards, and contract agreements which includes setting up inspection schedules; gathering information and evidence; and, ensuring conformance to plans, specifications, and safety regulations.   

• Investigate building, construction, and land use changes in the field by gathering factual data to ascertain present use of land and location of structures; conducting background investigations and research; and preparing reports to use as evidence.   

• Provide technical assistance for development of codes and policies.   

• Generate written reports and enforcement orders which includes noting deficiencies in standards and submitting final documentation.   

• Review plans and specifications for compliance with codes which includes assisting in projects in complying with regulations, prioritizing deficiencies, and preparing timetables.   

• Provide technical support for agencies and the public which includes inputting data into system for general public access.   

• Meet with architects, engineers, City officials, and building contractors to discuss construction projects.

• Operates light power driven, hand held and "walk behind" equipment and uses shovels, rakes, other hand tools, jackhammers, dump trucks in the performance of assigned duties.
• Performs manual and semiskilled work in flushing, clearing, maintaining sewer and storm drainage, pipelines, culverts, force mains, and pumping stations.
• Performs or assists in starts, stops, inspects, lubricates and adjusts pumps, valves, motors, drive shafts,  universal joints and flow rates at pumping stations.
• Performs or assists in taking chemical samples and adjusts rate of chemical flows.
• Performs or assists in removing and replacing pumps, motors, valves and related, and performs repairs.  May rebuild components on a limited basis.
• Performs or assists in excavation and repair or replacement of sewer gravity lines.
• Places traffic barriers and warning signs and directs traffic as necessary.
• Assists in the orientation and on-the-job-training of new employees.
• Assists in notifying residents of sewer system work which may affect their lines, and cooperates with other agencies on repairs.
• Assists in emergency Public Works repairs and maintenance including work in other sections of the Department.
• Performs related duties as required.

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:

A typical way of gaining the knowledge, skill, and ability outlined in the job description is:

Level I:

• Sufficient formal and/or informal education to provide the necessary reading and communication skills; AND
• Some prior experience in street maintenance work that would include mechanical and hydraulic repair of pumps, gates, valves, pipelines and related.

Level II:

• Equivalent to graduation from high school.
• Two years of increasingly responsible experience in the operations and maintenance of Public Works sewage pumping stations and gravity sewer lines, equivalent to the Sewer Maintenance Worker I classification at the City of San Rafael.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:

• Within one year of hire as a Sewer Maintenance Worker I, must possess a valid California Driver's License with a tank endorsement to drive the vactor in a training capacity.
• Level II:  Must possess a valid California Class "B" license and have a satisfactory driving record
• Level I and Level II:  Must be willing to work underground, in confined places, in and near bacterially contaminated liquids, and in exposure to unpleasant and potentially hazardous conditions. 
• Level I and Level II:  Must be willing to work overtime and on call as needed for emergency repairs.
