Under general supervision by the Building Management Administrator , the Sr. Facilities Repair Worker will perform a wide variety of semi-skilled work in the repair of buildings and equipment at the City 's six interim housing communities and future communities . This Sr. Facilities Repair Worker position will be stationed at Central Service Yard and travel to various sites across San Jose , with an emphasis on the City of San J ose's interim housing communities . In addition to the typical duties of a Sr. Facilities Repair Worker, the successful candidate will interact a n d compassionately communicate with interim housing tenants and pe ople in vulnerable housing situations . The position requires flexibility and adaptability to : respond to afterhours alarms , navigate exposure to situations and issues surrounding unhoused, and make decisions in stressful or ambiguous situations. The position may also oversee other Facility Repairs Workers in their day-to-day tasks and special projects. Other duties of this position include, but are not limited to:

• Leads, repairs, and maintains water faucets, urinal valves, commode valves, shower heads, minor pipe leaks, and various other water control valves.
• Leads and performs minor repair on buildings caused by vandalism and normal wear, including patching, full area painting and spot painting, floor tile repair and replacement, glass replacement, door adjustments, wall panel replacement, and wood trim replacement.
• Leads and performs minor repairs and maintains PTA C AC units .
• Leads, repairs, and maintains equipment, including generators and power tools.

• Schedules and manages contractor activities and reviews and approves payments.
• Prepares work orders for major repair and alterations and monitors progress and completion of projects.
• Prepares reports on materials, labor, and cost on damage caused by users in order to recover cost.
• Maintains records of repair equipment.
• Maintains records of work and projects in a work order system database.

The Public Works Department is recruiting for an Operations & Maintenance Superintendent, who, under general direction from the Operations & Maintenance Manager, will oversee the operations and maintenance activities of the Facilities, Streets, Parks, and Vehicle Maintenance divisions. This position will manage budgets of the respective divisions, supervise and guide division supervisors, and advance technical knowledge and skills to affect the research, analysis, planning, and implementation of operations functions.

• Public Works will be implementing computerized asset and maintenance management software that will require significant change management within operations and maintenance. The superintendent will play a key role in the implementation and change management of this technology.
• It is a goal to implement safety and developmental programs that engage, educate and train staff for their current and future roles. The superintendent will assist with the development and management of these programs.
• Improving service delivery is a constant challenge. The superintendent will assist with finding creative ways to improve service delivery that benefits internal and external stakeholders.

THE POSITION:

This position performs the following essential job duties (including but not limited to):

• Provide leadership, direction, and supervision to operations and maintenance staff, including assigning tasks, monitoring performance, and providing feedback and coaching.

• Develop and implement operational plans, policies, and procedures to ensure the efficient delivery of services.

• Oversee the planning and execution of maintenance activities for city infrastructure assets, including streets, sidewalks, parks, buildings, vehicles, and utilities.
• Coordinate with contractors, vendors, and service providers to ensure timely and cost-effective completion of maintenance projects.
• Monitor the condition of infrastructure assets and develop strategies for preventative maintenance and repairs.
• Maintain accurate records and inventory of city-owned infrastructure assets, including condition assessments, maintenance history, and replacement schedules.
• Develop and implement asset management strategies to optimize the lifecycle of infrastructure assets and maximize return on investment.
• Prepare reports and presentations on asset performance, budget projections, and recommendations for capital improvements.
• Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations, codes, and standards governing public works operations and maintenance activities.
• Coordinate safety program for department staff ensuring proper training and protocol.
• Obtain necessary permits, licenses, and approvals for maintenance projects and activities, and ensure timely renewal and compliance with regulatory requirements.
• Respond to inquiries, complaints, and requests for information from the public, elected officials, and regulatory agencies regarding operations and maintenance issues.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

Any combination of education and experience that demonstrates possession of the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities.  A typical way to obtain these would be:

• Graduation from high school or G.E.D. equivalent, supplemented with training/education in supervisory principles.
• Five (5) years of progressively responsible experience in streets maintenance and repair, parks maintenance, facilities maintenance and/or vehicle maintenance, including a minimum of two (2) years in a supervisory capacity.
• Training/experience in database management and/or experience using database systems is highly desirable.
• Ability to converse in Spanish is preferable
• Valid California Driver’s License

Glenn County is recruiting individuals to fill three full time and multiple Part Time/ Extra Help positions in the Public Works Agency. The Public Works Maintenance Worker I/II/III position performs a variety of semi-skilled and skilled labor in the construction, maintenance and repair of County roads, bridges, and other related structures, and in various traffic control maintenance and  repair activities of the Public Works Agency; operates a variety of construction, maintenance and transportation equipment as necessary to complete daily tasks at the Glenn County Public Works Agency. MAINTENANCE WORKER (Full time)

DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS:

Maintenance Worker I:  This is the entry level class in the maintenance worker series. Positions in this class normally perform a variety of unskilled and semi‑skilled maintenance tasks. Although trucks and other motorized equipment may be operated by a Maintenance Worker I, the equipment is used on a training basis or for tasks which are repetitious in nature. Under this training concept, positions assigned to the class of Maintenance Worker II which become vacant may reasonably be filled at the Maintenance Worker I level, with the understanding that reassignment to the Maintenance Worker II class may be expected following successful job performance and personal development.

Maintenance Worker II: This is the journey level in the maintenance worker series. The County of Yuba is currently recruiting for Extra Help-Cook within the Yuba County Jail. Under close supervision, prepares and provides institutional meals following federal and state nutritional guidelines, and performs other duties as assigned.  Yuba County staffs the Cook classification at the County Jail division in the Sheriff’s department  This position performs a full range of tasks associated with the preparation and distribution of meals to juvenile detainees and adult inmates.  The incumbent ensures that properly prepared nutritional meals are produced in a large volume, institutional setting.  Responsibilities also include overseeing detainees and/or inmates and institution workers assisting with food preparation. 

For successful performance, the incumbent would be required to have knowledge of principles, methods and equipment used in high volume meal preparation in an institutional setting; basic food groups and nutritional values; safe work practices related to food preparation, storage and service; basic business arithmetic; and basic inventory and record keeping principles and practices. The Yuba County Sheriff's Department is responsible for the administration of the Yuba County Jail and Jail staff.   The Mission of the Yuba County Jail is to provide safe, efficient, humane and secure custody of all persons incarcerated.  The county prisoner population is made up of those who are sentenced to county jail, those serving state prison sentences in the county jail under AB109, and those who are pre-trial and who have not yet been sentenced. The jail provides a necessary link in the criminal justice system. There are numerous programs operating within the facility including medical, kitchen, exercise, commissary, visiting, law library, inmate education, work programs, work furlough program, and inmate classification.

This is a part-time non-benefited position. Work schedule is flexible up to 29 hours per week.

This position will be assigned to Utilities Division of the Public Works Department.

POSITION

• Perform a variety of unskilled and semi-skilled work in the maintenance and repair of beach facilities, including dumping trash cans, picking up debris along waterline, cleaning rest rooms, driving 4-wheel drive trucks on beach, performing minor plumbing and building maintenance, removing graffiti, painting, hand-picking litter and other related duties as assigned.
