Under immediate supervision, the Assistant Planner evaluates projects to ensure compliance with local policies and regulations as well as California planning laws and provides information to the public. This position provides a high level of service to a variety of clients and stakeholders, including professionals in architecture, engineering, and construction, as well as individual property owners. The Current Planning Division is a collaborative, team-oriented environment that coordinates with other County divisions and departments, as well as other agencies and districts.

The City of Healdsburg is currently recruiting a Fire Inspector to join our team! From inspections, to plan reviews, to code compliance, to fire prevention education, to investigating the cause and origin of fires - this position offers a variety of exciting ways to make a big impact in the community.   In addition, the Fire Inspector will have the opportunity to participate in fire suppression and medical response activities.

As a key member of the Fire Department, the future Fire Inspector has the unique opportunity to work closely with colleagues across department lines – including Police, Public Works, Code Enforcement and Community Development. This role will be responsible for enforcing laws related to fire prevention, suppression, and investigation, contributing to the overall safety of the community. The Fire Inspector works 40 hours/week. The City of Patterson is looking for a highly qualified Accounting Manager for the Finance Department. Under minimal direction of the Finance Director, the Accounting Manager plans, manages, and coordinates the activities of complex accounting functions.  Oversees the work of supervisory and professional level staff and performs the more complex accounting duties, in the areas of general accounting, accounts payable, budget, debt, fixes assets, grants, payroll, treasury, and Financial information systems.

The Associate Planner supports the Town’s planning and development functions by reviewing and analyzing a variety of land use and development applications to ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations. This position provides technical assistance and guidance to property owners, developers, and the public on zoning, design review, environmental assessment, and related planning matters. The Associate Planner also prepares staff reports, presents recommendations to the Planning Commission and Town Council, and contributes to long-term planning initiatives that promote thoughtful, sustainable development consistent with San Anselmo’s General Plan.

The Bolinas Fire Protection District is a combination paid/volunteer fire department providing services in emergency medical care, fire protection, disaster response, fire prevention and community education. Bolinas is a unique coastal community with approximately 1,500 year-round residents. Thousands of visitors are also attracted to our beaches and surrounding National Parks year-round. The District employs a full-time Chief, full-time Administrative Manager, and three full-time Firefighters. We also rely on the support of a dedicated group of approximately 20 volunteer firefighters and EMT’s. The department responds to approximately 300 emergency and public assistance calls annually, with approximately 80% medical aid calls.

DUTIES:

• Report to the Bolinas Fire Chief
• Perform scene command and personnel supervision during incidents
• Perform fire apparatus engineer and firefighting duties
• Perform fire prevention activities and public education
• Assist in leading volunteer trainings and support the volunteer firefighting program
• Provide BLS emergency medical care
• Drive and operate fire apparatus and related equipment
• Maintain fire station, grounds and related equipment & apparatus

• Maintain proficiency in a variety of technical fire and EMS applications
• Maintain effective working relationships with colleagues, volunteers, and the public

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

• At least 18 years of age
• In possession of a high school diploma or a General Equivalency Diploma (GED)
• Have good vision in both eyes, with the ability to distinguish Occupational Safety and Health Act (OSHA) color codes for hazardous materials and have no depth or peripheral impairment
• Possession of Firefighter 1 (FF1) certification from an accredited organization
• Possession of California Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) certification
• Possession of (or ability to obtain within 3 months) a California Driver’s License (Class C w/ FF endorsement or Commercial Class B) with a driving record in good standing
• Possession of a current Candidate Physical Ability Test (CPAT)
• Pass a standard pre-employment background check
• Desire to advance by acquiring new skills and responsibilities

PUBLIC WORKS DIRECTOR

COMMUNITY

Chowchilla is an 11-square mile rural city of between 19,000 and 20,000 residents. Located in California’s San Joaquin Valley, Chowchilla is home to some of the state’s most productive agricultural areas. Many of California’s iconic travel destinations such as the Yosemite, Kings Canyon and Sequoia National Parks, the San Francisco Bay Area and the Pacific Coast are within an easy two-hour drive.

Area residents enjoy a Mediterranean-type climate of abundant sunshine with dry, hot summers and mild to cool winters. The rain months of January through March can provide an average 12 inches of annual precipitation to the region.

The community has the benefit of an established commercial downtown surrounded by a mix of varied older homes. In recent years, newer housing developments were built on the east and west sides, as well as retail properties and industrial developments. Three school districts provide a strong educational foundation for families. POSITION

The Public Works Director is appointed by and works under the direction of the City Administrator and serves as a member of the City’s executive team. The Public Works Director supervises 20+ employees and directs the operations and activities of the City’s Public Works Department including streets and sidewalks, water drainage, parks, facilities, water and sewer utilities, storm drainage, manages all municipal construction, and prepares and administers departmental budget.

The ideal candidate will be a proven leader with the ability to direct and manage office and field staff.  The Public Works Director is a highly visible position with frequent public interaction. This position will have oversight over Planning and Engineering; general background of these two fields is preferred.

The Public Works Director will be familiar with the dynamics of rural communities and be able to ensure ongoing city services within the constraints of limited budgets. Candidates with the education and/or experience that demonstrate the ability to perform the functions of the position will be considered.

This salary range(s) includes an approximate five percent (5%) ongoing non-pensionable compensation. Actual salary shall be determined by the final candidates’ qualifications and experience. 

Position Duties  

The Department of Public Works is recruiting to fill two (2) Building Inspector-Electrical Specialty, Combination/Certified I/II/III/Senior positions within the Engineering Services Division, Code Inspection Section.   

The Building Inspector Combination/Certified I/II/III/Senior position will be located subject to business need. This position will provide inspection support at a variety of City of San José facilities, including the Airport, Regional Wastewater Facility and Central Service Yard.  

Key responsibilities and duties may include, but are not limited to the following:  

• Conduct inspections of industrial, commercial, manufacturing, and facilities to ensure compliance with codes, regulations, ordinances, standards, and contract agreements which includes setting up inspection schedules; gathering information and evidence; and, ensuring conformance to plans, specifications, and safety regulations.   

• Investigate building, construction, and land use changes in the field by gathering factual data to ascertain present use of land and location of structures; conducting background investigations and research; and preparing reports to use as evidence.   

• Provide technical assistance for development of codes and policies.   

• Generate written reports and enforcement orders which includes noting deficiencies in standards and submitting final documentation.   

• Review plans and specifications for compliance with codes which includes assisting in projects in complying with regulations, prioritizing deficiencies, and preparing timetables.   

• Provide technical support for agencies and the public which includes inputting data into system for general public access.   

• Meet with architects, engineers, City officials, and building contractors to discuss construction projects.   

• Perform other duties of a similar nature or level.
