Midpeninsula Regional Open Space District is seeking to fill one position as a Risk Management Analyst I/II who will manage the activities of Midpen’s claims and insurance programs, serving as a liaison between Midpen and outside insurance providers and administrators, and support the overall administration of the risk management program District-wide. The ideal candidate is a detail-oriented, organized self-starter with excellent communication and project management skills, who enjoys working within a collaborative team dynamic. Top-level candidates will have experience with public agency insurance and liability concepts.

About the Position:
Risk Management Analyst II Coordinates and performs a wide variety of responsible technical and analytical risk management support functions, implementing the policies, procedures and priorities of the risk management program, including providing information and assistance to staff and insurance administrators; filing claims, maintaining risk management records, and researching and compiling a variety of reports. The Risk Management Analyst II works closely with Midpen’s Safety and Training Coordinator and performs special projects in close communication with Midpen’s executive team, while providing responsible and complex technical support to the General Counsel.
Risk Management Analyst I Performs most of the duties described above, but at an entry level with less independent discretion and under close supervision.
The ideal candidate will communicate and collaborate closely with all Midpen departments to complete project requirements; serve as a liaison with outside insurance providers and administrators including a municipal pooled risk entity to report and process claims; independently evaluate evidence of coverage provided by third parties to Midpen including coverages for contracts, leases, and permits; prepare underwriting reports; maintain property and asset catalogs; coordinate with Midpen’s Safety and Training Specialist, and support the overall administration of the risk management program.
The position is based upon the Management Analyst I/II job description and is focused on risk functions in the Office of General Counsel. The position receives direct supervision from Midpen’s General Counsel.

Work Environment: During this time of COVID-19 restrictions and care for our employees’ health, Midpen employees are working remotely. However, once restrictions are lifted this position will operate in the General Counsel Department at the Midpen’s offices in Los Altos, California and will work in an office environment. This position reports to General Counsel.

A typical way to obtain the required qualifications would be:
Risk Management Analyst II: Equivalent to graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with major coursework in business administration, public administration, or a related field and three (3) years of professional analytical experience, or two (2) years of experience equivalent to Management Analyst I at the District. Experience working in a legal office or a risk management or insurance office is preferred, but not required.
Risk Management Analyst I: Equivalent to graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with major coursework in business administration, public administration, or a related field and one (1) year of responsible analytical experience.
Licenses & Certifications Required: Possession of a valid California Driver’s License.
