The Position:

This position is an entry level, non-sworn position in the Police Department. Incumbents in the position are assigned to the Basic Peace Officer Academy and must satisfactorily pass all of the requirements that lead to the possession of the Basic Peace Officer Standards and Training Certificate before becoming candidates for the sworn position of Police Officer. Performs related duties as assigned.

Desirable Qualifications:

• Working within a law enforcement agency, related agency, or the U.S. Armed Forces, OR
• Completion of the Corrections Academy (Adult Corrections Officer Core Course) training approved by the California State Board of Corrections

Other Requirements: 

• All candidates will be required to pass a City background investigation, which will include fingerprinting, polygraph and psychological examinations.
• Incumbents will be required to pass various state and county tests that may include CJIC/2 and DOJ/NCIC.
• Successful completion of training to comply with California Code of Regulations §T15-1024 as it pertains to supervising inmates in a temporary holding facility is required within twelve (12) months of appointment.
• Any employee hired or rehired on or after January 1, 2023 will be required to complete the Corrections Academy (Adult Corrections Officer Core Course) within one (1) year of hire as a condition of employment.
• Must be able to perform all of the essential functions of the job assignment.

The City of Sunnyvale is seeking a dynamic and results-driven Engineering Manager to join the Environmental Services Department. This position provides leadership and oversight of engineering functions as well as the operation of the City’s wastewater and storm sewer systems. Experience in the operations and maintenance of sanitary and storm sewer systems is highly desirable.

The ideal candidate will have a passion for public service, operational excellence, and building strong, collaborative teams. This role manages a crew of 14 field staff and requires exceptional communication and problem-solving skills. This position performs a variety of work in the monitoring of county, state and federal detainees and maintains the security and safety of inmates and staff.

EXAMPLES OF DUTIES

• Performs booking procedures, including receiving, booking and assigning prisoners to cells; performing body searches; fingerprinting, and photographing prisoners, etc.
• Maintains custody of prisoners’ private property.
• Maintains the safe and orderly operation of the County jail facility; monitors security cameras and door warning lights; screens and monitors visitors. Inspects all of inmates’ incoming and outgoing mail and telegrams.
• Inspects facilities regularly.
• Monitors the condition and activities of prisoners.

This position performs a variety of paraprofessional technical and customer service functions supporting the Building Division. Incumbents may advance to the higher-level class after gaining knowledge, skills, certification, and experience that meet the qualifications for and demonstrating the ability to perform the work of the higher-level class.  Responsibilities include interpreting policies and procedures relating to building and construction activities enforcing the building codes. JOB DUTIES

• Working knowledge of basic construction drawing and blueprint reading. 
• Working knowledge of office methods, procedures, and techniques; manual and automated filing systems; office equipment operation; business correspondence; record-keeping       practices; correct English usage; standard operating policies, procedures and administrative structure. 
• Applicable Federal, State, and local laws, regulations, codes, and ordinances related to    building plan checking, including basic zoning, grading, and flood zone requirements. 
• Working knowledge of principles and techniques of building inspection work. 
   

Under general supervision of the Water Quality Manager and the Plant Manager, acts as a hands-on Plant Operator II for the operation and routine maintenance of a 0.5 MGD and 1.0 MGD recycled water treatment plant, (RWTP) and related pump facilities; performs a variety of skilled tasks such as electrical, electronic, pneumatic and mechanical instrumentation and controls. Performs installation, troubleshooting and repair of computerized automation control work at a modern MBR wastewater treatment facility and remote pumping stations, and assists in the development of maintenance programs for the preventive maintenance and improvements of all instrumentation and control system; supervises and provides leadership to OIT’s, subordinate Operators, and for the operations of the RWTP as well as other water quality functions for the District such as; sampling and monitoring, Industrial pretreatment, commercial discharge and inspections, Fats, Oils, & Grease management etc.

DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS:
Plant Operator II - This is the journey level class in the Plant Operator series and is distinguished from the I level by the ability to perform the full range of duties assigned without immediate supervision, by having a working knowledge of specific policies which may at times lend itself as a “lead” worker, and by being aware of the procedures unique to the District's treatment plant operations. Positions in this class are distinguished from the III level (supervisor) in that they do not possess supervisory or budgetary responsibility during a shift and are not responsible for handling the more complex problems that may arise within the treatment plant operations.
