The Department: 

The City of Santa Clara is looking to fill multiple As-Needed- Temporary Employee positions to support the Annual Cleanup Campaign. Successful incumbents will be assigned to work as ground crews shoving, sweeping, and lifting up to 50lbs of debris left by Santa Clara residents.

The Position: 

In this temporary employment opportunity, you will gain valuable experience working with the public and demonstrate teamwork amongst your peers as you become part of a dedicated crew.

A mandatory paid orientation is tentatively scheduled for April, 2026, where employees will receive training, safety boots, and the necessary equipment to perform the job. This position will work from 6:45am-4:15pm, 40-45 hours a week, Monday-Friday between April 27, 2026 - May 22, 2026. 

As an as-needed employee, this is an "at-will" position and there is no guarantee of hours. Hours are limited to 999 in a fiscal year or 960 hours in a fiscal year for retired CalPERS annuitants.

Typical Duties:

Duties may include, but are not limited, to the following:

Under immediate supervision:

• Operates a Class C license vehicle, hauling personnel, materials, and equipment to and from various work sites;
• Loads and unloads trash and assists in the work required to maintain the cleanliness of the City;
• Represents the City in contacts with property owner, answering questions pertaining to City services;
• Assists in setting up and staffing traffic safety work zones;
• Refers complaints to superior;
• Maintains daily records of activities; and
• Performs other related duties as assigned.

DEFINITION: Under general supervision of the Youth and Teens Supervisor, the Preschool Instructor plans, organizes, and implements preschool programming for children ages 3-5 years old in the Kinder Cubs Preschool Program, our preparatory class for Transitional Kindergarten (TK.) Program hours are Monday, Wednesday, and Friday from 8:30am – 1:00pm.  Approximately 20-23 hours per week including curriculum preparation time. Substitute and floating positions in other youth programs also available daily from 8:30am - 5:30pm.

About the Position:  The Facilities Maintenance Specialist is responsible for performing all aspects of facilities maintenance for Midpen’s Administrative Office, including building operations, vehicle fleet inspections, landscaped grounds, parking areas, and various physical systems such as HVAC, plumbing, painting, assembly, construction, electrical, data cabling, and security systems.  This unique position has a foundation in older residential property improvements in a rural setting, including spring systems, old style construction including log framing, historic farm building construction, multiple materials and additions to the buildings are all aspects and considerations for repairs and tenant improvements. Work Environment:  This position is part of the  Facilities & Fleet Department and will be required to work onsite Monday through Friday on a 9/80 schedule.  Work will be performed at Midpen’s administrative office in Los Altos, field facilities, and also at residential properties located primarily in the field. The Office Technician I/II position at the Assessor/Clerk-Recorder Office performs a wide variety of specialized technical duties and provides information and assistance to the public regarding departmental policies, procedures and laws. The Office Technician II position is distinguished from the class of Office Technician I by the responsibility to perform the most complex technical duties in the program to which assigned. • Applies departmental policies and procedures, as well as applicable state laws, in determining accuracy and completeness of various applications, forms and records.
• Assists in coordinating and implementing assigned programs.

The Office Technician I/II position at the County Counsel Office performs a wide variety of specialized technical duties. This position will also work with Personnel, where they will provide information and assistance to the public regarding departmental policies and procedures. The Office Technician II position is distinguished from the class of Office Technician I by the responsibility to perform the most complex technical duties in the program to which assigned. This position is scheduled for forty (40) hours per week.

JOB DUTIES

• Prepares, types, maintains and/or processes a variety of records, reports, correspondence, charts, tables, logs, legal documents, etc., as required.
• Receives and responds to inquiries, requests for assistance and complaints from County staff, outside agencies and/or the general public.
• Performs routine clerical duties as required, including but not limited to typing reports and correspondence, copying and filing documents, retrieving files, entering computer data, completing and processing various forms, maintaining inventory, ordering supplies, assembling materials, faxing information, answering the telephone, greeting and assisting customers I clients, processing mail, etc
