The City of Sunnyvale is looking to fill the Golf Services Assistant position with a team member that believes the impossible is possible. Sunnyvale Golf Course is a par 70 regulation 18-hole course with numerous bunkers, dog legs and water holes. Sunnyvale is a well-manicured test of the player's skill stretching out to 6,255 yards. Sunken Gardens Golf Course is a 9-hole, 1,502 yard executive course. Sunken Gardens is ideal for the beginner golfer with ample practice facilities and shorter length holes. 

The Golf Service Assistant is responsible for performing customer service and cash handling tasks in accordance with standard procedures and following specific instructions from the supervising staff. The Golf Service Assistant classification is distinguished from the higher classification of Assistant Golf Professional in that the latter has increased level of responsibility, such as explaining and enforcing rules of the game of golf, equipment repair, golf starting, and event coordination.

Under direction of the Utility Systems Manager, supervises, schedules, and coordinates the utility operations and personnel assigned in the repair and maintenance of water and wastewater facilities; performs related administrative tasks in the operation of assigned work unit; performs other related work as required.

Class Characteristics: An incumbent in this classification may be distinguished from an incumbent in the next lower classification of Senior Utility Worker in that the Utility Supervisor provides oversight and is responsible for directing personnel assigned to the maintenance of the City's water production, storage and distribution systems and wastewater collection systems.  Incumbent is also responsible for ensuring that day-to-day maintenance activities are in conformance with generally accepted principles, standards, laws, and regulations governing the utility maintenance department.  As a supervisor, incumbent independently directs and reviews the work of assigned staff in the maintenance and repair of potable water production, storage and distribution facilities and wastewater collection systems.

Under general supervision of the Utility Systems Manager, is responsible to assist and advise in development, implementation, and maintenance of drinking water and wastewater system quality control standards.  Lead the development and implementation of backflow and cross connection control, water quality monitoring, and water management plans as directed.  Assist in the operation of Water and Wastewater Systems programs including sampling plans, backflow device management, regulatory reporting, and sample collection.  Prepare technical reports as directed.

Class Characteristics: Water Quality Specialist is journey-level class who works independently and is expected to perform essential job duties to ensure the continued safe operation of the City's drinking water and wastewater systems with a minimum of supervision.

The Milpitas Recreations and Community Services Department is seeking a student intern to assist with community special events.

Job duties will consist, but are not limited to some of the following: contact vendors, setting up special events, working on holidays and weekends and more.

The hours will be 25 hours per week from July 2018 through June 2019.
