The San Jose Police Department's Crime Data Intelligence Center is accepting applications for the position of Crime & Intelligence Analyst (CIA).  The CIA is an essential Police Department position that is responsible for crime and intelligence analysis.  The CIA performs specialized technical support work utilizing automated law enforcement systems, a variety of software, and crime and intelligence analysis techniques to provide a wide range of analytical services and products to police officers and management to use in the identification and apprehension of criminal offenders, the deployment of officers, and the improvement of public safety, as well as for strategic planning.

The purpose of the CIA position is to collect, analyze, interpret, and integrate crime, staffing and deployment, performance, related quantitative and qualitative data, support investigations and related programs.  The CIA performs complex statistical and analytical research involving the use of computer applications, random statistical samplings, correlation and regression analysis and probability studies; develops reports and materials; develops links regarding pattern detection, crime and criminals, terrorist and organized crime, social and demographic factors within a communities; analyzing crime spatially and temporally; works with outside agencies to address crime issues; updates and tracks department gang and intelligence files; provides actionable reports to patrol and investigations for the identification, suppression and apprehension of criminals.  

Responsibilities include but are not limited to: 

Establish and maintain information by devising systems to use information, complying with guidelines, analyzing information and entering information into the computer, designing, creating, maintaining and updating databases, routing information to relevant personnel, preparing and maintaining files, reference materials, researching websites and social media, sharing information with other analysts, preparing flow and link analysis charts and maps, analyzing and preparing reports, and conducting financial investigative research and identifying assets.

Provide training to section personnel by preparing class materials and interviewing and instructing personnel.

Provide information to personnel and other departments by gathering facts on a variety of subjects including wanted individuals, safety issues or other necessary information and attending meetings.

THE POSITION

The City of Woodland Police Department is looking for experienced Lateral Police Officers.  Police Officer positions with the City of Woodland are filled from an eligibility list.  A description of the position, duties and qualifications is available from the City Human Resources Office or on-line at www.cityofwoodland.org/employment.

ABOUT THE POLICE DEPARTMENT

The Woodland Police Department is staffed with 64 sworn officers and 12 support employees. It, too, is expected to expand in size as the City grows. The Department is managed by a Chief of Police, a Deputy Chief, three Lieutenants, ten Sergeants, Support Services Manager, and a Police Records Supervisor. The Department has three Bureaus; Patrol, Investigations, and Community Relations. Police Officers are assigned to all Bureaus where the work in various capacities and teams.   Within the Bureaus are many specialty units including K-9 , Traffic/Motors, School Resource Officers, Street Response Team, Narcotics Agent, Detectives, and Homeless Outreach Street Team.  There are a number of collateral duties available to officers to include SWAT, Crisis Negotiations Team, Field Training Officer, Honor Guard, Arrest & Control Instructors, Firearms Instructors, Gang Resistance Education and Training (G.R.E.A.T) instructors, Social Media Team and Bicycle Patrol. The Position

Reserve Police Officers provide a wide variety of law enforcement services to the community. We are continuously seeking paid Reserve Police Officers who are committed to the vision of pioneering a new way of policing. Reserve Police Officers augment our full-time Police Officers in their primary duties and have the opportunity to work various assignments within the department to gain and expand their expertise.  Upon completion of a Field Training Program, Level I Reserve Police Officers work with minimal supervision to independently provide general law enforcement for the duration of their assignment. Level II Reserve Police Officers work under direct supervision providing general law enforcement and/or support duties for the duration of their assignment. 

A Police Officer that is appointed to the Reserve Program will work in a part-time temporary capacity. Hours worked are not to exceed 960 hours (Non-PERS) during the fiscal year.  Incumbents will be required to work a minimum of 16 hours per month and participate in one full day of training per month.  Citrus Heights invites all to apply for positions; however pursuant to Government Code, hiring restrictions may apply to California Public Sector Pension Plan Retirees.

Minimum Qualifications

• Experience:  Previous law enforcement work experience is preferred, but not required.
• Education:  Equivalent to high school graduation.
• License:  Possession of a valid California Driver’s License at time of appointment.
• Certifications:  Level I Reserves must have completed a California P.O.S.T. Academy or California P.O.S.T. Modules III, II, and I.  
  Level II Reserves must have completed California P.O.S.T. Modules III and II.

Selection Process

Selected candidates will generally be referred forward for an interview by the Chief of Police or his designee(s).  Finalist(s) will be required to complete a California P.O.S.T. Personal History Statement and will be subject to a polygraph or voice stress analysis examination and background investigation, using P.O.S.T. guidelines (http://www.post.ca.gov/selection/).  Upon receipt and review of the background report, a conditional offer of employment may be presented.  Final candidate(s) must then pass medical, drug/alcohol screening, and psychological examinations conducted by City-appointed physicians.
