Horizons Family Counseling, a division of the Livermore Police Department, provides a variety of services to Tri-Valley families and their children, including individual and family counseling, case management, and parent education training. Horizons partners with the City, community organizations, police, and school districts to provide innovative and exceptional service to help create solutions to the challenging problems facing families today.
The City is looking to fill two half-time limited duration Family Therapist positions to provide crisis intervention, individual, family, and group therapy for families of minors of the Tri-Valley.
The first position will provide counseling services to families residing at multi-family housing developments. Bilingual Spanish/English skills are required for this position.
The second position does not require bilingual skills.
Examples of Duties
Conduct therapy with families in crisis, emotional distress, and high conflict
Provide family-based services that allow parents to regain control of at-risk children and learn effective parenting skills
Facilitate workshops and support groups to ensure continued use of skills
Work with families referred by police for law violations, school attendance review boards, or other governmental agencies
The City of Livermore is currently accepting applications for the position of Family Therapist. We currently have two limited duration half-time (20 hours per week) positions. Limited duration appointments are temporary, unrepresented, and at-will. A limited duration employee does not have a legal right to continued employment with the City and may be separated from employment with or without cause and without the right of appeal. Positions are currently funded for two years and are subject to renewal.
