The City is seeking a Maintenance Operations Supervisor to oversee the maintenance and operations of the City streets, storm water systems, sidewalks, facilities and building systems, plumbing and irrigation, landscaping, and parks within the Operations+ Environmental Services Division of the Public Works Department. This is a full supervisory-level class in the Maintenance series that exercises independent judgment on diverse and specialized maintenance and repair functions with accountability and ongoing decision-making responsibilities associated with the work.

The Maintenance Operations Supervisor is responsible for leading, planning, organizing, supervising, reviewing, and evaluating the work of the Maintenance team. The Maintenance Operations Supervisor provides technical knowledge on a wide variety of topics including streets, stormwater systems, sidewalks, fleet, HVAC, electrical, facilities, environmental compliance (in particular regarding generators and fuel tanks), landscaping, irrigation, plumbing, and parks. Key responsibilities include planning and coordinating comprehensive maintenance programs, bidding, monitoring and inspecting repair work and service contracts, and extensive procurement administration utilizing the City’s purchasing and contract management systems.

THE POSITION

The Accounting Technician supports the City’s finance team by performing complex accounting tasks, preparing and reconciling financial data, assisting with the payroll and budget processes, and delivering responsive customer service.

IDEAL CANDIDATE

The ideal candidate for the Accounting Technician has a solid background in the municipal accounting process and regulatory compliance, can prepare clear and accurate financial reports, has some experience with payroll software, Excel, and payroll processing, and communicates effectively while working collaboratively and maintaining confidentiality when handling sensitive information.

The successful candidate will have experience supporting month-end, quarterly, and year-end accounting and reporting activities, and may assist with payroll-related filings, labor cost analysis, and audit support. This role requires knowledge of accounting principles, internal controls, financial reporting and office systems, applicable laws, and customer service practices, along with the ability to perform technical accounting tasks. The successful candidate will be able to analyze and interpret financial data, use specialized software, explain policies, provide responsive service, work effectively with diverse groups, and carry out duties safely and efficiently.

• Perform a variety of highly technical accounting duties in support of an assigned area of accounting operations and other assigned duties.

• Prepare, compile, tabulate and maintain data, complex documents and highly technical financial, statistical and operational reports, statements and records; enter data calculate, reconcile; create or update records.

• Prepare summary sheets for use of supervisor or auditors in preparing comprehensive financial statements; prepare trial balances; prepare budget documents and perform related research; and, assist in budget administration and mid-cycle adjustments.

• Assist other accounting personnel with a variety of technical accounting duties in the preparation, maintenance and processing of accounting records and financial transactions including accounts payable, accounts receivable, purchasing or other related functions.
• Receive and screen telephone calls from other departments or the public; handle complaints; and, answer questions and provide information to the public using judgment as to those requiring priority attention.
• Perform special projects or studies; participate in committees or teams as assigned.
• Assist in calculating and processing payroll; determine tax deposits, benefit and other deductions and related adjustments; track accruals; and, process direct deposit.
• Ensure that work is handled on a priority basis, organized, and completed in a timely manner; check documents and records for accuracy, completeness and conformance to applicable policies, rules and regulations.
• Build and maintain positive working relationships with co-workers, other City employees and the public using principles of good customer service.

ABOUT MARY SILVEIRA CHILDREN'S CENTER

Mary Silveira Children's Center is located on campus at Mary Silveira Elementary School and serves the Miller Creek School District.  This is a year-round program, providing after-school care during the school year and transforming into a fun-filled summer camp during the summer months.  Work with an awesome team of instructors, support children and families, and make a lasting impact in our community. 

THE POSITION

The Childcare Division is seeking a full-time Child Care Instructor I/II to join our dynamic after school team, dedicated to making a positive impact in the lives of young children.  We're looking for an enthusiastic and experienced individual who is passionate about childhood development and creating a safe, supportive, and enriching environment where children can thrive.  

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (including but not limited to - view the full job spec HERE)

• Deal effectively with children and act as appropriate adult role model.
• Plan and implement curriculum based on principles of child development.
• Establish and maintain positive working relationships.  Work cooperatively to achieve program goals.
• Interact and communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing, with children, parents, staff, host school and community members.
• Manage time, actives and resources effectively.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

Child Care Instructor I:

• Completion of a minimum of  six (6) units of Early Child Education (ECE) courses and currently working toward the completion of twelve (12) units of ECE courses.
• Six (6) months working with children.
• AA in recreation, education, or related field preferred

Child Care Instructor II:

• Completion of twelve (12) Early Childhood Education (ECE) courses.
• One (1) year working with children in a group setting.
• B.A. in recreation, education, or related field preferred.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS

• Possession of a valid California Driver's License preferred
