The City of Berkeley invites you to apply for the position of Assistant Fire Inspector in the Fire Department! In this role, you will have the opportunity to work in the Wildland Urban Interface (WUI) Division and help administer special projects aimed at assisting residents with defensible space, hazardous vegetation cleanup, and preparing for wildfire. This position also plays an important role in grant-funded projects, program management, and outreach events as well as fulfilling technical work required. This is a unique opportunity to engage with the community to create meaningful, measurable results that increase public safety and preparedness.  

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

A typical way of gaining the knowledge, skills, and abilities for this position is:
Equivalent to graduation from high school and one year of experience in fire, building, or code enforcement inspections in a paid professional, internship, or volunteer capacity. Municipal experience desirable.

Other desirable qualifications include: Completion of California State Fire Marshal's Fire Prevention 1A, 1B, and 1C courses; Fire Inspector 1A, 1B, 1C, and 1D; or International Code Council (ICC) Fire Inspector I; Associate’s degree in fire science, emergency management, fire protection engineering, environmental science, ecosystem management, public policy, public administration, or related field.

EXAM PROCESS

The exam process will include, but may not be limited to: 

• Application review for minimum qualifications and required documents 

• Competitive review and assessment of applicants' education, training, and experience 

• Assessment Center tentatively scheduled for the week of November 4, 2024 

• Written Exercise (50%) 

• Oral Board Interview (50%)

Tests may consist of any combination of written, oral or other exercises or assessment procedures that test content and may include, but are not necessarily limited to, typing, math, reading, writing and analytical skills; problem solving ability; computer and software proficiency, or any other job-related knowledge, skill, ability or qualification. The examination process and dates are subject to change. The City may, without notice, change or eliminate any assessment component as needs dictate. Applicants passing all examination phases will have their names placed on an employment eligible list that hiring departments will use to conduct final selection interviews slated for November 18-20, 2024.

The Newark Recreation and Community Services Department seeks motivated, self-driven individuals passionate about working with the public. Customer Service Representative involves substantial contact with customers, program contractors, instructors, and staff, working in the café or as a birthday party host.  Various tasks may be assigned, from the front desk to facility setup/clean up. 

This position requires you to work at our indoor water park and recreation center.

You must be able to work 15-20 hours a week between 5:30 am and 9:30 pm.

The Newark Recreation and Community Services Department seeks motivated, self-driven individuals passionate about working with the public. As a Senior Customer Service Representative, your role is pivotal in delivering exceptional service to our members and guests. As the primary point of contact, supervises part-time staff, enforces Silliman Center policies, assists in training staff, and serves as the primary contact for customers. This position requires you to work at our indoor water park and recreation center.

You must be able to work 15-25 hours a week between 5:30 am and 9:30 pm

The City of Marysville is excited to announce that we are looking for Intern Fire Fighters.  Currently, we have 3 positions looking to be filled.

This is a NEW program within the Marysville Fire Department.  The Marysville Fire Department is hiring continuously for twelve (12) Firefighter Reserves.  These positions will be funded for four (4) years through the SAFER Grant.  

For each 24 hour shift worked, you will receive $60 for food and mileage, that will be paid monthly in accordance with the City of Marysville's established pay schedule.
