DEFINITION: To plan, organize, assign, and review the construction activities of the City’s Public Works Engineering Services and Development Engineering divisions, and to enforce conformance with City’s codes and ordinances.
This is a Level I Peace Officer designation that performs a wide variety of duties in the enforcement of law and order; and to carry out special assignments in the protection of life and property within the City of Ceres. Receives general supervision from a police sergeant or other designated authority.

Under general supervision, the selected candidate will perform professional library work in the Harrison Memorial Library, including in the areas of reference, youth services, circulation/outreach services, or local history services as well as other work as assigned. This recruitment will establish an eligibility list that will be used to fill vacancies in the maintenance division within the Public Works Department. These are semi-skilled, manual labor positions reporting to the Public Works Superintendent. These positions are responsible for performing a wide variety of tasks to maintain the City’s core infrastructure including streets, sidewalks, traffic control devices, drainage facilities, forest, beach, parks, and building facilities.
