The Parks, Recreation & Community Services Manager – Senior Services is responsible for leading the operations, programs, services, and community engagement efforts that support Redwood City’s older adult population. This position oversees a broad range of senior services, including recreation programming, wellness initiatives, social services coordination, special events, facility operations, partnerships, and community outreach, while helping ensure the City’s brand new 45,000 square foot senior center continues to be a welcoming, active, inclusive, and responsive community space.

This role provides leadership and oversight for the day-to-day operations of senior services programs and facilities, including staff supervision, budget administration, program development, strategic planning, contract management, and customer service delivery. The Manager works collaboratively across City departments and with community organizations, regional agencies, volunteers, and service providers to support programs and services that enhance quality of life, social connection, health, and lifelong learning opportunities for older adults.

The Manager also serves as a key liaison to community stakeholders and the Senior Affairs commission, helps guide long-range planning efforts related to aging services and ensures programs and services reflect the evolving needs of Redwood City’s diverse senior community. Responsibilities include overseeing operational logistics, evaluating program effectiveness, supporting staff development, and maintaining strong partnerships that advance the City’s commitment to accessible and high-quality community services.

The City of Brisbane is currently recruiting for a Communications Coordinator. Under general direction, performs and administers the City’s digital communications activities, including website content management, social media publishing, digital asset management, photography, and video content support; ensures public-facing communications are accurate, timely, and accessible to meet current standards. POSITION:
This classification is distinguished from all other classes by its responsibility in carrying out day-to-day digital communications functions and supporting the City’s public information program. The incumbent exercises independent judgment in content development, organization, and publishing, and is expected to perform a significant portion of work independently. This position is responsible for executing communications initiatives and supporting the implementation of citywide communication strategies as directed by the City Manager’s designee. This classification does not exercise direct supervision but may provide technical guidance to staff.

• Implements communications priorities and projects as directed by the City Manager’s designee, ensuring timely and consistent delivery of public information.
• Updates and maintains content on the City’s website; ensures information is accurate, current, and consistent with established standards and accessibility requirements.
• Reviews, edits, and publishes content submitted by departments; ensures alignment with City policies, branding, and communication practices.
• Publishes and monitors content on official City social media accounts; supports consistent posting and timely dissemination of public information.
• Designs and produces clear, engaging, and accessible graphics and visual materials to effectively communicate City news, programs, and initiatives to a broad and diverse community across digital and print platforms.
• Develops and executes editorial calendar for City-administered pages, social media pages, and digital signboards.
• Maintains and organizes a centralized digital photo and media library, including file naming, tagging, archiving, and retrieval.
• Applies digital accessibility best practices, including alt text, captioning, and document formatting, in alignment with current standards (WCAG 2.1 AA).
• Reviews and edits captions and transcripts for recorded video content to ensure accuracy and accessibility.
• Coordinates with City departments to gather, verify, and prepare content for publication, while independently managing assigned projects and deadlines
• Provides on-site support at City events, including photography and basic media coverage.
• Tracks and reports basic website and social media metrics; uses data to develop and optimize marketing communications strategies.
• Captures and edits photographs of City programs, events, and facilities for use in digital and print communications; maintains archives.
• Assists with layout and design of digital and print materials, including newsletters, flyers, and reports, in collaboration with the City Manager’s designee.
• Livestreams shorter city events.
• Performs related duties as assigned.

ABOUT THE POSITION

The City of Redwood City Public Works Services Department invites you to apply for the position of Public Works Maintenance Worker III Equipment Operator in the Right-of-Way Division. The Right-of-Way Division is responsible for maintenance of the City’s public right-of-way including streets and roadways, parking lots, roadway markings and painting, streetlights, traffic signals and signs, and street cleaning.  

The position will report to the Public Works Field Supervisor and will serve as a skilled maintenance worker operating a variety of heavy equipment in the construction and maintenance of public right-of-way- assets, assist in scheduling and reviewing work, perform a variety of skilled tasks in the construction, maintenance, repair streets and sidewalks, and occasionally lead a field crew in assigned work. Work will include the skillful operation of construction and maintenance equipment such as street sweepers, backhoes, paving machines, dump trucks, rollers, trucks, tractors, and skip loaders. The position will be involved in the construction and maintenance operation of streets, sidewalks and gutters, will spread asphalt in patching and repairing streets, read and interpret maps of service areas and sweeping districts, and provide technical guidance to less experienced workers.

The Fire Department is an active participant in the San Mateo County automatic aid system and responds regularly in support of neighboring jurisdictions throughout the county, including the San Francisco International Airport.  Department members are eligible to participate on FEMA USAR California Task Force 3, sponsored by the Menlo Park Fire Protection District.  The department is also an active participant in the Bay Area Maritime Search and Rescue Council and regularly trains with other fire agencies and the United States Coast Guard.  

The City is planning for the replacement and expansion of two of its existing fire stations, modernizing and relocating the facilities to better serve the public.

In support of the San Mateo County automatic aid agreement, all entry level candidates will attend a regional, county-wide, fire academy where they will be introduced to all agencies in the county and rotate through a variety of training sites.  The roughly 12-week academy also includes specialized training depending on candidate certifications.

An eligible employment list will be created for the position of Paramedic/Firefighter and will be used to fill current and future vacancies.  This classification encompasses the full range of firefighter duties and Paramedic Ambulance Transport Services.  Incumbents currently work a 2/4 work schedule with a 24-hour work cycle (2/24 hour shifts with 4 days off). Training is provided to protect life, property, and the environment from the risks of fire, explosion, and hazardous materials.

The South San Francisco Public Library is a full-service library committed to delivering quality services to a diverse community.  Library services are available at three sites, including the Main Library (901 Civic Campus Way), the Grand Avenue Library (306 Walnut Avenue) and the Gene Mullin Community Learning Center (520 Tamarack Lane).  Lifelong literacy services are provided by Project Read at the Main Library and the Gene Mullin Community Learning Center (GMCLC).  The City currently has one opening in this classification, for a position in the Youth Services Division providing programs and services at the Main Library.

THE POSITION

The current opening for this position is in Youth Services, with responsibilities overseeing youth programs, collections, and makerspace activities. Under general direction, the Library Program Manager II plans, organizes, manages, supervises and coordinates library-wide activities covering core library services in technical, public, and literacy service areas. Incumbents work under the general direction of the Library Director or Assistant Library Director and exercises direct supervision over supervisory, professional, technical, paraprofessional and clerical staff, and volunteers. Incumbents in this class may serve as Library Director in the department head’s absence; may function as the Library’s project manager for specialized projects; and perform related work as required.

The Library Program Manager is a professional managerial position requiring the possession of a high degree of technical knowledge and supervisory responsibilities and is characterized by the comprehensiveness and complexity of the programs administered. An incumbent in this classification demonstrates strong professional, service-oriented leadership and interpersonal skills.

The standard schedule is 9:00 am – 6:00 pm, plus one evening per week (11:00 am – 8:00 pm) and one Saturday per month (9:00 am – 5:30 pm).
