The Emergency Dispatcher I/II position in the Sheriff’s Department performs a variety of difficult work in the provision of 24-hour-per-day, seven-days-per-week public safety emergency dispatch service, including all 911 communications. Emergency Dispatcher I is the entry level class in the Emergency Dispatcher series.  It differs from Emergency Dispatcher II in that the II level is fully trained as a dispatcher and may provide training for the Dispatcher I. This position is scheduled for forty (40) hours per week.

WHAT YOU’LL DO

• Receives incoming calls from the public; determines type of assistance required, including law enforcement, fire or ambulance personnel, etc., and dispatches emergency and non-emergency radio and telephone communications to appropriate jurisdictions and agencies.
• Operates a law enforcement 911 communications network.
• Maintains radio communications with field personnel as necessary to relay messages and information, and to determine the location and safety of field personnel.
• Performs a variety of clerical duties as required, including but not limited to answering business telephones; processing and/or maintaining department records, including case files; compiling information and statistics for reports; preparing criminal history reports; entering/cancelling/retrieving data on computer; ordering supplies, copying and filing documents, etc.
• Processes civil, misdemeanor, juvenile and felony warrants.

About the Technology Implementation Office
The Technology Implementation Office (TIO) was established in 2017 and its mission is to advance emerging solutions to reducing greenhouse gas emissions for the transportation and industrial source sectors. TIO connects climate technologies and customers by providing financial incentives (through grants and loans) as well as technical and matchmaking support. Climate technology areas include zero emissions vehicles and infrastructure, zero emissions energy storage and backup systems, composting, and waste-to-energy projects (co-digestion, waste treatment, anaerobic digestion, combined heat and power). By supporting the scale-up of climate technologies, TIO can help achieve state and regional greenhouse gas emissions targets, reduce emissions in impacted communities, while also making technologies cost-effective even in regions without strong climate policies.

In addition to electric vehicle and charging programs, the TIO administers the Climate Tech Finance program which offers loan guarantees to help entrepreneurs secure debt financing, such as a loan through a community bank, so they can commercialize emerging technologies faster. By offsetting the risk for banks, the program helps entrepreneurs bridge a challenging financial gap on the path to commercialization. In many cases, the Climate Tech Finance program is helping entrepreneurs get their first business loan.

About the Strategic Incentives Division
The Strategic Incentives (SI) Division supports the Air District’s mission by managing incentive funding that is awarded to eligible projects that achieve voluntary reductions of air pollutants and greenhouse gases, primarily from on- and off-road vehicles and equipment that operate in the Air District’s jurisdiction. Annually, the Strategic Incentives Division administers more than $90 million in new revenue to fund programs and projects that replace older diesel-fueled vehicles and equipment such as school and transit buses, marine vessels, locomotives, trucks, construction equipment, agricultural equipment, and other mobile equipment, with newer, cleaner alternatives, including zero-emission technologies, and install refueling/charging infrastructure that supports the accelerated adoption of zero-emissions vehicles and equipment. Other examples of programs administered by staff in Strategic Incentives support the reduction of single-occupancy vehicles, provide cash to residents for retiring their older vehicles, and provide grants to reduce pollution from woodburning devices and lawn and garden equipment. The Strategic Incentives Division also works to develop and implement incentive programs to meet community identified strategies for reducing air quality disparities and that benefit the Bay Area’s most overburdened communities.

Definition
Under direction, provides lead direction and performs the more complex administrative, technical, and specialized functions in the areas of incentives, contracts, business services, finance, budget, and facility management; and performs related work as assigned.

Distinguishing Characteristics
This is the advanced lead level in the Staff Specialist series. Incumbents may provide lead direction and may be assigned to perform the more complex duties. This class is distinguished from the Supervising Staff Specialist in that the latter assigns, supervises, reviews and evaluates the work of assigned staff. This class is distinguished from Staff Specialist I/II, which is at the journey level, and does not typically perform lead work or the most complex duties.

About the Division
The Legal Division provides a wide array of legal services to support the entire Air District, including prosecuting violations of air laws; advising on legal compliance with the Brown Act, California Environmental Quality Act, AB 617, and other federal, State and local laws; supporting rulemakings by developing regulatory language and advising on compliance with rulemaking requirements; supporting the permitting program; reviewing records under the Public Records Act; researching legal issues; and staying abreast of current legal developments in air quality throughout California and nationwide. The Division utilizes a variety of tools to resolve enforcement actions, such as abatement orders, civil enforcement, and coordinating with other enforcement agencies, like local district attorneys or the state Attorney General. For cases in environmental justice communities, Air District staff can directly engage with community members when determining the appropriate legal remedies, including high enough penalties to reach deterrence-based outcomes and ensure the community benefits from the related funds and measures to bring the facility into long-term compliance and prevent the potential recurrence of violations.

Definition
Under close supervision, the legal intern performs various work related to and in support of legal casework being undertaken by attorneys in the Legal Division. The intern gains practical work experience through assisting the Air District’s attorneys while following guidelines and procedures defined by the Legal Division.

Distinguishing Characteristics
This is a temporary training position for current law students and recent law school graduates. Interns will apply their legal education to work and gain practical experience assisting experienced attorneys on a variety of cases and projects. Through this work, interns will gain valuable environmental law and regulatory experience.

Position Summary

Under general direction of the Director of Engineering Contracts, performs technical work related to preparation of contract documents, requests for proposals and formal bids, and administration of professional services agreements and construction contracts. May act as a liaison between District staff and professional consulting engineering firms or construction contractors. May serve as a contract administrative assistant to project engineers on design and construction projects. Maintains detailed and accurate records of contract compensation invoices, progress payments, status and schedules. Communicates with other District departments regarding engineering contracts. • Reviews contractors' certified payrolls for compliance with contract requirements; performs labor and Small Business Enterprise / Disadvantaged Business Enterprise (SBE/DBE) compliance duties, such as, but not limited to, verifying certified payrolls with inspection daily diaries, performing contractor and sub-contractor employee interviews, verifying on-site postings of Federal and State required notices, keeping current records of Federal and State Wage Determination changes
• Assists with the review of extra work bills from contractors
• Assists with maintaining Engineering Department budgeting and accounting records
• Types correspondence, reports, forms and specialized documents related to the engineering contracts
• Researches information on the Internet and in the electronic and hard copy files for government rules, regulations and codes, historical information and certified documents
